#ONedchat Archive
The idea for @onedchat stemmed from a conversation between Allison Fuisz and Amy Bowker in the Spring of 2014. They noticed a gap on Twitter where an Ontario-based education chat was concerned. After several conversations and a vision in mind, @onedchat was created.

Don't forget to follow one another! As well, remember Q1, Q2, etc as we get ready to start our questions!
Hi Dylan, welcome to the chat tonight!
Q1 What does it mean to be “connected”?
right, it's about being connected, so let's connect!
Greetings collaborators! Happy to be connectED with you tonight.
A1: Being connected is building up a netowrk of people that you can learn and share with
A1: It means collaboration, global reach, perspective, engagement, diversity, PD, voice, not isolated by classroom or location
Hi Peter, and thanks. Good to be here!
My best guess is there are 80,000 teachers on twitter, and I only follow 3,500...so many more peopel to connect with!
Q1 My definition of "connected" is evolving. It's the building of relationships.
We no longer need to be issolated. issolation is a choice in 2016 https://t.co/s7jz9BVARn
A1: It means collaboration, global reach, perspective, engagement, diversity, PD, voice, not isolated by classroom or location
is now trending in Canada, ranking 39
A1 It means having a network of people to collaborate with, think critically and problem solve.
A1 Being connected, is about putting yourself out there, beyond the walls of your class, school, or even your city. Be confident!
A1 It's about exploring, coaching, sharing, leveraging...to change practice
A1: 'connected' feels like being a part of a team. It sounds like idea being shared and discussing new ways to do old things.
couldn't agree more https://t.co/3iWtOxqZ7R
forging relationships — from 1-to-1 conferencing, to twitter, and all the school clubs and cross-city events between
A1: The exchange of ideas, working collaboratively among those who encourage curiosity and value tenacity.
COnnecting doesn't have to be online, but it does have to happen
When we are so "connected" do we run the risk of becoming disconnected?
putting yourself "out there," this can be challenging. Take the leap
And new ways to explore new things with technology https://t.co/Msy0XxU40Z
A1: 'connected' feels like being a part of a team. It sounds like idea being shared and discussing new ways to do old things.
I love this idea of global reach! With technology it's so easy to share a great idea from anywhere and its best uses!
in 2 minutes we have question #2 coming your way!
Q2 How is your classroom/school connectED?
I think that is the hope and promise of ConnectED
Only if you don't know what you looking for. Know you why https://t.co/QDNDDihwhh
When we are so "connected" do we run the risk of becoming disconnected?
new ways to solve old problems?
To sum up Q1->exchange ideas, collaborate, being part of team, putting yourself out there, beyond school walls, network... GREAT!
A2: As an IB school, global perspectives/context =what we do (lens). I like to connect with other classes/Ss to shake up audience
Yes, any outside-school network is a true support.
If you have a purpose you hold to....no
Q2 How is your classroom/school connectED?
A2: student Padlets and QR codes to share book recommendations with each other. A 21st century reading log with a purpose!
Sorry-Late to the chat, first timer here! Marina from Thunder Bay
1/2 It depends on how you operate, in education our business is people, we have thousands of interactions daily,
I'd love to hear more about a 21st Century reading Log
2/2 many have long lasting impacts, often beyond our intentions. You need to continue to combine both "worlds"
My class (and I) connect via twitter, our class blog, Remind app, GHOs, Google Plus. I present, also part of ADE & SEE community
that sounds cool, I want more details too!
Sorry-Late to the chat, first timer here! Marina from Thunder Bay
Welcome my favourite French teacher and colleague!
A2: It's about getting ideas from anywhere and everywhere! Luckily, I am connected to brilliant educators who inspire and coach me
My school at its basis is connected by the population of students and programs offered. It is a model community hub school.
I really wish that I automatically knew what that meant but I don't. Can you elaborate?
Partnering together beyond our classroom walls is happening throughout our school -- including classroom shoutout challenges
Q3 What are the tools/platforms you are currently using to connect?
Our director is academic researcher & has an idea to help connect communities with schools (& vice versa)… https://t.co/O6OCqBHOJS
I wonder how we can foster that desire to take "ideas from anywhere?"
what is a classroom shoutout challenge?
oh and it's international on Friday....just so you know
We have secondary students, an LD Program, ESL, ELD, adult ESL, a day care, people from many cultures and backgrounds
Have any of you seen this? . I clicked on the link and already have a Mystery Skype set up for next week
We really have to understand "what learning is" in its essence https://t.co/Fx0YAcYy6T
I wonder how we can foster that desire to take "ideas from anywhere?"
Ahhh. I understand. Is that what hub means? What an interesting context to learn/teach in
A3: Is twttier to obvious on a chat using Twitter and Podcasts (youtube live) are the big ones right now
A3 I haven't explored much with connecting my classroom but I would love to organize a Google hangout this year
A3 Google Hangouts are my new frontier. Also my blog, twitter & the Remind app prove value for connecting our class with parents.
Blurring the lines between community and school...
