A1: Skype in the Classroom is a great way for students to experience other cultures and enhance lessons by visiting locations theyโre learning about. #MSFTEduChat
A1 Skype in the classroom provides opportunities for SS to learn about different cultures, visit places they might never visit, and connect with people from all over the world. Global perspectives. #msfteduchat
A1. Educators should use @SkypeClassroom because it gives students authentic and engaging learning experiences that connect to your curriculum. Also, it's fun and when kids have fun learning, they learn! #MSFTEduChat#SkypeaThon
A1 - Skype brings experts from around the world into the classroom, sometimes multiple times per day, virtual field trips...experiential learning! #MSFTEduChat
#MSFTEduChat

skype ia a plaform for boosting confidence in kids and developing many skills like collaboration, emapthy , team work.

A1 @skypeclassroom is the most powerful educational tool freely available to educators today! It can enhance and enrich teaching and learning whilst also inspiring students to be more and do more! #msfteduchat#skypemt#mieexpert#MicrosoftEdu
A2 go to Microsoft educator community (link) and complete the 5 simple courses which show you how to get the most out of @skypeclassroom or connect with #skypeMT - youโll be missing out if you donโt #MSFTEduChat@MicrosoftEDU
A2: Start small. Skype with a teacher across the hall to get your students acclimated. Then dream big! Weโre skipping with @DisneyPixar@majornelson and a developer on Minecraft soon! #MSFTEduChat
A2: Best tip for someone new to Skype in the Classroom - Let the students take the lead (their questions, their responses, their pick for who to Skype with). My first #mysteryskype I accidentally said our location out loud - now students lead, not me.
#skypeathon#MSFTEduChat
A2 Gather resources before hand; practice with your Ss before the real session; let the other party know it's your 1st time; be BRAVE and just GO FOR IT; and Have FUN! #skypeathon#MSFTEduChat
A2: My best tip would be for students to prepare talking points and questions ahead of time. They get stage fright when on camera! Also, don't be shy about asking people to talk with your class...my best connection was found via a Twitter reply! #MSFTEduChat
A1 #MSFTEduChat To open the windows of our classroom and travel without passports and visas wherever we want! To learn without the borders. And then - Sky is the limit! :)
One of the most innovative ways, Roshan is through playing applied games with other classes. Mystery Skype is a great game to play. It's also easy and fun to play a Kahoot game with another class with Skype Screen sharing. #MSFTEduChat
A3 Be Open minded, Mystery Skype can by used not only to geography - it is a game "Guess what I am thinking about?" You can use it on literally all classes #MSFTEduChat#skypeathon
A2: from a frequent classroom visitors' perspective- make sure the camera is pointed at the students (not the ceiling, or out the window, or...) #MSFTEduChat

A2. A great tip is to go over Skype etiquette like eye contact, speaking loud and clear, etc. Also, it's a great idea to do a test call with a friend to make sure everything works before your first call! #MSFTEduChat

#MSFTEduChat Sharon, Kindergarten teacher in Vermont. 1 of our wonderful experiences with @SkypeClassroom was with a real forest ranger in Yellowstone National Park. Now I use each year with our exploration of forest life. @TeachSDGs
A2. Also, before your first Mystery Skype, tell the kids that you are excited but will want their feedback for how to make the next one even better. Empower them to help you! #MSFTEduChat
A2: Sign up on https://t.co/RlZ5AEMVM7 and take the Skype courses! If youโre nervous about your first call then set it up with someone you know and feel comfortable with. Thatโs what I did with @MrWestermark - weโd connected on Twitter first. #MSFTEduChat
A3 I split my class in to 3 groups. A research team. A questioning team. And a recording team. They use @MSonenote and @MSsway to work collaboratively to get the best of of their @skypeclassroom session #MSFTEduChat@MicrosoftEDU
A3: I prepare students for @SkypeClassroom lesson by reviewing types of questions to ask to get the best result. If playing #mysteryskype review key vocab, specific yes/no questioning, Skype etiquette - 5 min. prep #skypeathon#MSFTEduChat
A3: I help our teachers facilitate Skype connections. Our teachers do a great job of assigning jobs so each student is able to participate. #MSFTEduChat
#MSFTEduChat Sharon, Kindergarten teacher in Vermont. 1 of our wonderful experiences with @SkypeClassroom was with a real forest ranger in Yellowstone National Park. Now I use each year with our exploration of forest life. @TeachSDGs
A3: We use @bing & other information from @MicrosoftEDU to get background information about the session/speaker/event! Good for the Students to have prior knowledge to deepen understandings! #MSFTEduChat
Q3-We always set up norms & expectations for VFT & #mysteryskype we also did a practice call with T.s in the building so S's can see what it will look like & get their wiggles out #MSFTEduChat
A2 be brave and dont put off using it. Doing that is the biggest regret of my career! Virtual field trips are alway a great way to start and helps you grow in confidence using @skypeclassroom#msfteduchat#skypemt#mieexpert#microsoftedu
A3. Before our 1st Mystery Skype, we do a practice round w/my parents who pretend to be from another state. This gives my students practice before our first real one. It gives them confidence and sets them up for success! #MSFTEduChat
A3: We use #OneNote to prepare a few questions to ask as well as take notes during our #skype virtual tour, super easy-peasy, but prep questions and notes can be done on paper too! #MSFTEduChat
A3 My best experience in prep has been to do a practice Skype with the Ss. For Mystery Skype practice, we Skyped from their classroom to my office- and I pretended to be in another country. It was then that they learned how to perfect their questions. #skypeathon#MSFTEduChat
A3: as the visitor I appreciate when students have prepared questions. It helps the session be more interactive, which is a little more difficult when I am not in-person in the class. #MSFTEduChat
A3 #skypeathon#MSFTEduChat In the first few weeks of Kindergarten I use @Skype / @GoogleHangout with parents as a way to practice online etiquette with familiar faces before we use as a learning tool.
A3. Also, it's important to review Skype etiquette like eye contact, voice level, etc. If you're playing a game proper Skype sportsmanship is critical. #MSFTEduChat
A3: We use #OneNote to prepare a few questions to ask as well as take notes during our #skype virtual tour, super easy-peasy, but prep questions and notes can be done on paper too! #MSFTEduChat
Groups and missions according to their choices... don't push too hard, let them do what they want to do under your supervision, they will learn from each other all the tips at the end..๐@SkypeClassroom#MSFTEduChat
A3: I always discuss my expectations, but also talk about what they would want others to think of them. Being from Kansas, no we don't know Toto!!! :) #MSFTEduChat

We agree! #SkypeClassroom & especially events like #skypeathon give students the chance to connect beyond the four walls of the classroom in a big way! #MSFTEduChat
A3: We had only one preparation. We were talking about the teachers from India about writers and poets from Serbia. My students prepared a presentation for students from India.
#MSFTEduChat#MicrosoftEdu#SkypeMT#mieexpert
A1: Virtual field Trips provides opportunities to visit museums, historical attractions, and other locations as students are given the chance of engaging in meaningful conversation with someone on site who will conduct a virtual tour for the class. #MSFTEduChat@SkypeClassroom
A1 It opens the walls of classrooms so students can see the world, learn empathy by building relationships and create change! #MSFTEduChat@SkypeClassroom
A3: Also great when students have done research/read the book/and have a sense of excitement about the visit.
I have teacher resources at https://t.co/GAtCbEAash to make it easier.
#MSFTEduChat
#MSFTEduChat#skypeathon I agree and I think once @Skype is introduced as a way to connect and have conversations with others, students develop an awareness and develop etiquette for using a variety of platforms. @TheGlobalGoals@TeachSDGs
A1 Skype creates so much excitement and anticipation of widening the breadth of learning for Ss-wish we did not have so many time zone issues. #MSFTEduChat
A4: Students are able to travel all over the world without leaving their classroom. It helps further enrich teacher lessons. One of my favorite overheard quotes from our students after Skyping with Chile was โtheyโre not all that different.โ #MSFTEduChat
A4: Students always learn something new with each @SkypeClassroom adventure. They are learning from experts, students, authors, explorers who provide deeper meaning than what I alone can provide #skypeathon#MSFTEduChat
#Skypeathon#MSFTEduChat A1 - Because it's an easy an accessible way to open up the world, which starts all kinds of conversations for students. It's a brilliant and giant first step for so many post-Skype initiatives in the classroom.
A5: Since I am also an illustrator of kids books - LOTS OF VISUALS. I do a presentation on my art, living in Cameroon, water projects, and more.
Have to drop off to go to prior engagement. Nice chatting w you all.
#MSFTEduChat
A4 Ss benefit by learning and collaborating with others, sharing cultural experiences, broadening their world views, immersing in learning. #MSFTEduChat
Students can see similarities and differeneces between themselves and other children their age that live elsewhere in the world. #MSFTEduChat#SkypeaThon
A4 My students learn to meet cultural traditions and develop critical thinking and empathy, they are more motivated in the study. They love to learn through @SkypeClassroom#MSFTEduChat#MicrosoftEdu#skypeathon
A3: Today I didnโt have time to prep the students, so only had a few of minutes before our #MysterySkype.
So quickly found out 1. First question? 2. Who are the researchers? 3. Who does rock/paper/scissors? And we were ready for the educators in Wales. #MSFTEduChat
A4 #skypeathon#MSFTEduChat The world becomes smaller and students begin to experience how we can all learn from each other no matter where we live. Authentic experiences make lasting impressions to want to know, learn more.
I have Skyped a past Winter Olympian into one of my classrooms before a few years ago now, but not Mystery Skyped before. Any advice or useful starter questions to help would be great. #MSFTEduChat

A4 Iโve found that the students who are usually difficult to engage with in normal lessons, are fully engaged and have great enthusiasm towards interacting through the @skpeclassroom call #MSFTEduChat@MicrosoftEDU
A4 The Skype experience also shows them through Skypeathon that different parts of the world are awake at diff times of the day #MSFTEduChat#skypeathon
A4 They benefit by learning about some of the experiences that SS around the world are facing and overcoming. They hopefully develop a global perspective, global awareness, and global understanding. #msfteduchat

#skypeathon#MSFTEduChat#MSFT#etwiam#mieexpert
This could be a very long story, they traveled to learn from experts, shared ideas and cultures, be global, good speakers and earned confidence also participated in global projects and much more via @SkypeClassroom#MSFTEduChat
A4. For many students their world ia a small place and they have low aspirations. Through using @skypeclassroom they start to discover that world is a big place and there is a big part for them to play in it. #msfteduchat#SkypeMT#MIEExpert#MicrosoftEdu

A5: This is one that is tougher for me. I have some students super engaged while others aren't. Typically though, students aren't disruptive! Assigning roles helps. Pre-writing/planning topics and questions helps. Clear goals and expectations help.
#MSFTEduChat
Q4 I can see my Ss use knowledges I teach them. They are trying to speak in the classroom not only with their teacher and classmates. It helps them to be more open and confident. #msfteduchat
A5: For example when doing a #mysteryskype ALL of my students have jobs! Everyone is learning, collaborating and problem solving together! #MSFTEduChat
A5: I begin the year taking an inventory of what my kiddos are interested in. That way I can find calls that are interesting and part of my curriculum too! Who says learning can't be Fun!!! #MSFTEduChat
A5 Relatively new to using Skype and have just been getting feet wet; love the idea of roles suggested @kcalderw I think it's in the course, too-plan on trying in Jan. #msfteduchat
A4. @SkypeClassroom means no borders between countries, so they can learn about other cultures directly from native people. They also learn languages, technology and how to be a good speaker | #Skype Classroom means experiencies around the world ๐๐๐ | #Skypeathon#MSFTEduchat
A5. For Mystery Skypes, I do job applications each month. Each child has a job and we change them each month. This gives each child a role during those calls. #MSFTEduChat
I couldn't agree more with this one. Plus, sharing the story of using @SkypeClassroom to share stories got me connected to some new people for the #Skypeathon! #MSFTEduChat

A6 #MSFTEduChat#skypeathon Students really like to speak to experts. The experience of using @SkypeClassroom as a way to enrich learning and offer invitations to engage in what students are curious about. Positive impact for all..
That's great, Andrew. I do something similar at the start of the year, and then I try to find connections with their "Dream Destinations". I use a Green Screen to take a pic of each child in their "Dream Destinations" and post to a bulletin board. #MSFTEduChat
A4: The benefits connect w/ real #PBL making it so the students can connect their in classroom work with the outside of the classroom world ๐ #SkypeaThon#msfteduchat
#skypeathon#MSFTEduChat@Dar_79
A5 Just simply ask students what would they like to do, learn, find out...
Then do a little bit of research, find a @SkypeClassroom lesson, collaboration that suits, and the rest will follow @MicrosoftEDU

Thoroughly enjoyed my first #MSFTEduChat Some great ideas and inspiration to take back to my class. This @SkypeClassroom doesn't appear half as scary now! @MicrosoftEDU
That's so nice to hear, Mrs. J. We're we glad to have you on the #MSFTEduChat too.
Have loads of fun during next week's #skypeathon and be sure to come back to the next TweetMeet Dec 19!

Everything! But I especially love seeing how brave my students are when it comes to communicating in other languages than Danish! Also love to see their faces when they meet other students across the world and find out how they are alike and different. #MSFTEduChat
A6 - We've got Californian kelp forests, stops in Africa and the Galapagos Islands, some #mysteryskype action and a chat with @AnthonySalcito ! It should be quite the adventurous few days! #MSFTEduChat#SkypeaThon
#MSFTEduChat So THAT'S what happens when trending during #TweetMeet. Reported a number of spam tweets. Great Skype tips! Looking forward to next month's TweetMeet!
