Tonight we are looking at work life balance and
Remember to use the hashtag.Thanks
Hello to all. A1 Important for all professions really, isn't it...
A1 Extremely important: in today's world, it would be unthinkable to have a job in education without work-life balance (1/2)
It's important that your prioritise your time and ensure that you have a chance to wind down
Why so important? Didn’t teacher 30 years have high expectations too?
very, staff prone to burn out, need to encourage email ban outside of working hours!
1st question:
Q1 How important is work/life balance?
Write 'A1' and use to answer &join the chat https://t.co/MwzNflFWzS
1st question:
Q1 How important is work/life balance?
Write 'A1' and use to answer &join the chat https://t.co/MwzNflFWzS
Q1 I don't think is is a question of if... It is a question of how.
A1 When in teaching, you should decide on moments to deliberately stay away from work & focus on // (2/2).
Surely most professions don't actively need well-being measures. For most it goes without saying!
Why so importnat now? it seems to have hit to fore front of education. Wasn’t it important 30 years ago too
I need to look after myself so I can look after others
A1: Very! In the 15 years, I have been in Edu the best Ts are those that have a hobbies/life etc...outside of school.
A1 I agree with Tricky to manage. Often so much to do. Have to learn to look after yourself!
They had high expectations. THAT is not the problem. It is the layers of accountability.
Agree. Tech means we are more readily available, that's the difference, but balance always been needed.
I am currently partaking in some so won't be joining you . Feel free to check my blog for lots of wellbeing stuff.🙂
Q1 work-life balance is crucial. Tired, burnt out teachers lose passion eventually-it's why so many leave!
Look at what you need to do to improve progress and if it won't as long as it doesn't have a deadline it can wait
Not so sure, looking into banking or medical professions, etc. same issues
A1 Important to all professions. Important for our health and therefore on how well we perform at work
A1 Vital especially as we will be expected to work for longer within the profession
Crucial. Teachers better if well rested and full of energy. Also, everyone should have a right to family time.
Is this doable/achievable?
E-mails have a lot to answer for
Q1 – How important is work life balance in education?
Q1 – How important is work life balance in education?
Mindfulness has been my saving grace.
those who taught 30 years ago speak of a very different profession though
we should be teaching our students to be well-rounded, need to model that by having interests outside of school.
A1 Essential, but seems impossible. Is it possible to have a school ethos of a work life balance for all and still meet targets?
A1
employers making no provision for staff work/life balance is short termist, doesn't get best out of ppl &dangerous
am about to join you (not literally!). Dinner in oven and wine in the fridge!!
Yes. My point was that this is sign of our times more than sign of our profession.
Need work life balance for staff retention, and so stability within setting so wins on both sides.
Mindfulness has taught me to control my thoughts and emotions rather than letting them control me.
Important because we are role models for our pupils. HWB - responsibility of all
A1-I could have done reports today... I did the gardening. Teacher is essential... As is keeping on top of the garden.
A1 Life comes first. We get one chance at it.
E-mails have a lot to answer for? - Do we agree?
E-mails have a lot to answer for? - Do we agree?
A1 is essential to have the needed for all students you meet in typical school day. Rebalance
RT - brogan_mr : A1-I could have done reports today... I did the gardening. Teacher is essent… https://t.co/OvGOnvRLDT )
A1-I could have done reports today... I did the gardening. Teacher is essential... As is keeping on top of the garden.
A1: Vital to find a balance that works for you. Often we recognise the need for this when we have hit own limits.
Not just emails. All sorts of tech and gadgets and social media. Switching off is difficult.
absolutely essential in my rider for them to be successful
HabibRahmanLive: RT - brogan_mr : A1-I could have done reports today... I did the gardening. Teacher … https://t.co/tY8Lvntd1A )
A2: Pressure and stress have no place in UK schools. Happy teachers = happy pupils. Happy pupils = learners.
Look at the time of day when your most productive, if you are a morning person don't try and do too much in the evening & vicevesa
is technology to blame or is it the job and technology is the catalyst?
Student wellbeing is paramount; happy and healthy top of wish list
A2 Very important, but difficult to achieve with pressures on teachers to perform well and get most out of kids
A2: It's the most important aspect! It's the most fundamental element.
You need to control it before the limits. Finding the middle point and being mindful of that.
how do you do this: make happy students?
different schools have diff expectations regarding this. I choose when to read work emails
Ultimately, the people. Tech on its own doesn't do it, there are ppl behind the tech and the emails
achievable with the demands of a modern teacher?
A2 Learning can only happen when students feel well.
So, student wellbeing is very important, too!
do you believe there should be a work embargo?
Get to know your pressure points and have strategies for when you recognise you are nearing them.
A2 The wellbeing of our pupils has to be at the centre of all we do
Not easy, but care, support and challenge appropriately and hope
Student Well being is important. But, we need to teach the skills to cope with some stress so that they can monitor themselves
Q2. Students need to feel safe and secure to thrive. They can overcome many obstacles, but these are a must.
A1 I think work/life balance is vital in whatever job you do!
A2: goes back to Maslow's hierarchy of needs - need to get the fundamentals in place first! https://t.co/Be2cm3vZ8u
is it easier in other professions?
absolutely agree with this. Give them the tools, show them how to self monitor
Teachers using Resilience Doughnut & Resilience Report to improve their wellbeing. https://t.co/n3U34ngNhb
Northern Beaches SC used The Resilience Doughnut tool to allow teacher's to self-asess their wellbeing.
A2:Nurturing wellbeing of our students will bring optimum outcomes. We all learn best when happy - invest in this wisely
for yourself and your pupils? Maybe get colleagues to now them too? a1
easier said then done - Example of how?
on emails? No, some people choose to check/send emails later in the evening. It needs to remain a choice &No pressure
Whether you want to get a better job, set up a business or start a new hobby, there is a course for everyone
A2: has to be at the forefront of everything we do.
Remember to use the hashtag. Thank you.
agree. work life balance is about your choosing when and how much you want to work etc.
Remember to use the hashtag. Thank you.
To do that teachers need to be in control of their own wellbeing
A1: Your to-do list will never be empty and life will still go on! Always keep perspective
How can this be achieved?
When I did international linking I needed to check emails regularly. Needs to be choice and no pressure though
A2: If we don't make Ss well-being our priority then we are in the wrong job!
A2 Before anything we do or say as a school or individual, pupils' should be considered. https://t.co/5Zz3LyGj0w
A2 The wellbeing of our pupils has to be at the centre of all we do
Q2 – How important is student well being in education?
it may easier to 'switch off' in some other professions, if no emotional attachment!
Q2 – How important is student well being in education?
Should we get emotional involved
How would you do that? If adults struggle to do it for themselves!
Absolutely! Did Action Research on this. I always say #1 mindfulness tech for child is teacher's
A2 Wellbeing for students is important. Some studies show link btwn better emotional wellbeing and progress
A2: think a massive part of wellbeing is the ability to build resilience and destigmatising mental health
simple things like have conversations in the playground, greeting Ss as they come into class.
A2 Turn around, teachers: If you go to a symposium or so, but kids' illness = on your mind, will you learn a lot?
Student supports every subject A child's is the key to their success
Agree. I always send emails late at night because I'm a night owl.I don't expect people to read/respond
But don't all professions require some kind of emotional involvement, too
A2 But it's more important than progress etc. We want happy and healthy children in our classrooms :-)
what students are run down it doesn't matter how good a teacher you are, they will struggle to retain studd
can be as simple as making sure you take time to speak to each student - in playground, at classroom door...
What a love;y idea! :-) Have you blogged about this that you could share?
JOB VACANCY: English tutor / £19.57 – £22.70 ph / Ref: JL5175 / To apply email ACLrecruitment@essex.gov.uk
A3: feeling supported and appreciated, can be as simple as that!
A1. Teacher wellbeing is essential - unhappy & stressed teachers = unhappy pupils
Think we have to to do the job but need to keep emotions in check at the same time
. tech plays a role in speeding up communication, which is good but speeds up expectations abt response time
YOU must become in control! You deserve it. Would you teach a lesson without learning how to do it yourself?
Totally agree. But not all professional share this view?
Adults are taught to have a and so should students to
This Much I know by is brilliant on the subject of staff well being.
No point in educating at all without making sure students are supported.
Should this be the case though?
Not talking about me personally. But many adults struggle so how can we teach children? Stress starts in primary!
I've discovered delay delivery. Useful at times when you need to work late for own wellbeing
It's on my blogging list! Wellbeing key priority at CC! has blogged for
A3 perhaps depends on each persons values and whether they are being met? Contribution, community, family, health etc
Positive communication is a starting point for almost anything, including wellbeing
developing emotionally intelligent staff comes first
Help students structure their revision long term so it doesn't hit them all at once
A3 Recognising when workload is great, ie reports, data - giving staff time together to work on that during staff meetings.
A3: encouraging a staff culture of collaboration.
That's why I said it's the people behind the tech. It's about managing expectations
A3 A head teacher that shows empathy, staff who are supportive and children who make each day a pleasure!
this always achievable in the fast pace life of education?
A2. Equally pupil well being is important. If you have stressed & unhappy pupils -they cannot learn effectively
What is the purpose of education then?
can you recommend courses/ school wide policy examples? A1
A3: Getting rid of the "I work harder than you mentality." Encourage Ts to work smarter not harder
A3 Laughing together, and being able to share things with and among colleagues.
Having had a good experience and sharing it .
Staff well being is valued by many of the most successful businesses. Google has a "Jolly Good Fellow" who is in charge of it!

JOB VACANCY: ESOL tutor / £19.57 – £22.70 per hour / Ref: NM6300 / To apply email ACLrecruitment@essex.gov.uk
simple recognition, thanks, acknowledgement and trust. Feeling challenged but not threatened
:
[student well-being]
Can be as simple as making sure you take time to speak to each student
https://t.co/El9DS0UxW9
A3 As a leader, supporting staff by covering classes etc
well if you don't and you work in challenging school you'll only ever achieving window dressing
A3. Realise it is a team effort and no classroom is an island
"Work smarter not harder” - Love it!!
"Work smarter not harder” - Love it!!
Chicken or egg.... We teach mindfulness strategies from nursery. Saw it successfully used by youngest of school.
A3 Ts more focused, energised, able to teach more effectively & having positive impact upon Ss outcomes.
I agree, thanking people is always top of my list for keeping a happy team
Couldn't agree more! Prioritize wellbeing practice as the norm
Q3 Establishing a culture of trust and support is crucial. Leaders at all levels play a vital role in this.
A2 wellbeing can be improved through traditional rewards and recognition but teachers love 2 see
Staff seeing children and other adults using the strategies has led to a cycle of positive motivation in Mindfulness
A1: (Sorry - hoping on a bit late) Extremely. How well do I balance work/life? Like not at all. https://t.co/S6b7CerMyN
1st question:
Q1 How important is work/life balance?
Write 'A1' and use to answer &join the chat https://t.co/MwzNflFWzS
Agree. Happy staff = happy school = happy children
Tech plays a role in speeding up communication, which is good but speeds up expectations...
https://t.co/VyhWqfIYCE
A3 Little things - tea and coffee supplied, lunch supplied on INSET, massages booked for inset, CPD requests supported etc
Q3 – What is the biggest positives that impacts on staff well being?
Q3 – What is the biggest positives that impacts on staff well being?
Q3 Expectations and accountability limited to what can realistically be achieved. Anything else is so demotivating!
A2: Extremely. How well do they balance work/life? Not that well from what I can tell. https://t.co/BYKowOzDxL
Q2 – How important is student well being in education?
what if you are working in a RI or inadequate school?
amazing!!!! (Though not the massage!! 😕)
Q2 & w teachers essential for & academic outcomes
Q4 is going to be a big one!!
Q4 is going to be a big one!!
A3: create a culture where it's okay to say no once in a while without feeling guilty
A headteacher that has a visible presence around the school so that they can support staff if needed
Yes, mindfulness helpful, but not stress relief. Kids really stressed out, mindfulness doesn't help with that.
I'm in RI - can still be elements of trust. Work with-so book scrutinies together etc
Q3 fostering team spirit, recognising success, supporting each other when things are tough. Watching out for each other
A3 be clear about why things are happening and give everyone as much time as possible to do things https://t.co/WdoW8f36WJ
Q3 – What is the biggest positives that impacts on staff well being?
it does but avoid buying into it - put self-curfews on emails - not after 9pm ...
As HT, I keep emails to min in evening, leading morning meditations for staff, modelling mindfulness, being open 1/2
Q3 important to acknowledge that it is possible to have a culture where hard work and fun are not mutually exclusive!
That's what I was asking for. Not sure how you can teach children to deal with stress.
A2 national agenda = student results being a priority. Within my school I have run
lovely idea. How do you make sure the HT of the next school has such a positive approach?
Stress reduction would require rethinking league tables and performance criteria.
Q2 positive w teachers essential for & academic outcomes
open about my own struggle and success. Driving mindfulness in school & being silly, happy' having a laugh! 2/2
A3: The simple things. Like coffee. Oh, and a good vent in the staffroom when you've had a nightmare morning.
Leadership of T&L has a profound [positive] impact upon teacher wellbeing. Removing pointless 'high stakes' observations being #1
Remember to use the hashtag.Thank you.
Remember to use the hashtag.Thank you.
You can still trust people. Getting the balance of 'trust and check' right is hard in RI schools though
Put things into place early to help reduce stress
A3: Actual songs of learning & growth from students! Otherwise, more $$ & more time to do creative tasks. https://t.co/kAvvNpWvBp
Q3 – What is the biggest positives that impacts on staff well being?
A3: leaders who listen, value staff, put their family first and their staff's family first
Think we have to be mindful of how we define hard work...
Share my story, share my knowledge, train others.
A3 Chocolates, biscuits, cakes and thank yous go a long way
. equality issue? People who CAN work extra hours get jobs/advance career but people who can't miss out?
In an ideal world - What if this does not happen- How do you maintain work life balance and well being
A3: Nurturing relationships and respect. Communication and empathy - listening, noticing, caring
and to be able to do it without fear of redress or judgement
A3 genuine praise and timely thank you comments. Even better if comments can wait or increase loses impact
A3: food has a positive impact in our school. A way to say thank you, come together socially, keep up the blood sugar!
In ours (RI) try to work with-book scrutinies tgether during staff mtings, lesson obs w'out grades
Transparency in decision making - no smoke and mirrors - reduces anxiety and increases confidence.
Actually mindfulness DOES help with that. We have proved it in my school over and over again.
A3: Actual signs of learning & growth from students! Otherwise, more $$ & more time to do creative tasks. https://t.co/kAvvNpWvBp
Q3 – What is the biggest positives that impacts on staff well being?
A4: result, hoop jumping but can also be self-inflicted.
This is so true! Mental health is such a big issue - that needs tackling & de-stigmatising https://t.co/vCBdEKvItR
A2: think a massive part of wellbeing is the ability to build resilience and destigmatising mental health
Could you elaborate? Eg kids stressed about SATs, how do you take stress out of them?
those that don't see as an important issue also time
A4 That office in DfE marked '5 strategies a day to confuse the life out of teachers and school leaders'
It has taken 30 minutes but Food has finally been mentioned
It has taken 30 minutes but Food has finally been mentioned
A4 Uncertainty - particularly this year for Y6. Unclear expectations etc
WORKLOAD! Having everything at once eg. coursework deadlines, mocks to mark, reports, checking others reports ect
YES! Give the tools before they are stressed. Practice and then use when needed.
That's me! Earliest I can check emails/start work is usually about 9pm
can this be combatted? overcome?
A4: More than $ & time, I think it's environment, culture, & mindset that make the biggest difference. https://t.co/86feULJR73
A4: external factors that have impacts that are difficult to control (government change/ policy change/ rate of change!)
Love food at staff meetings!
Dichotomy between results needed by institution and well being 'results' needed by individual.
For Y6 and Y2 this year it has been the drip-feeding of info re SATs - v stressful. So next yr will be better!
food, stickers and free pens the way to any teacher's heart! :-)
I'm not sure I have the answer...given that I'm on Twitter and it's half term!
A4: pressure and scrutiny from govt, gov body & SL team, the lack of hours in each day & unnecessary added workload, to name a few
A4 some ppl r not organised, may have too much to do, lots of responsibilities due to being on UPS, TIME!
Get them to do a little revision a day from the start of Y9 so it sinks in over time
I couldn't agree more. Everyone reacts well to recognition.
A4 Unfortunately I think staff absence can lead to this
A4 Being unable to say "no", so the mistake of (again?) saying "yes" too many times.
That makes at least 40+ teachers
Short sighted fads and over bureaucratic 'box ticking' are unnecessary obstacles to overcome in order to preserve staff wellbeing
Teacher Wellbeing - Workshops for your whole team and training & development for your leadership team. https://t.co/fZsxRs3UcO
"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.” H Albright.
Q4 – What are the obstacles to maintaining staff well being?
Q4 – What are the obstacles to maintaining staff well being?
It's all about choice. And we all mark late evenings, too.
Get them to do a little revision a day from the start of Y9 so it sinks in over time
Always time and expectation of the job. Give and take and a balanced approach to the week can work wonders, though
A2: very critical - an unhappy student will not reach their potential, achieve or flourish in education & beyond
A4 unrealistic expectations, some of which are our own
A4 Ensuring that it's strategically planned/implemented. Not just a bolt on which disappears during pressurised times.
A4:Needs to be part of whole school ethos, supported by SLT/ Govs.Need to take own responsibility 2 strive 4 balance 2
How can we make happy students within the current educational climate?
A4 An obstacle to maintaining staff wellbeing is initiatives designed to tick boxes - one off meetings etc
wouldn’t this just make a perfect school? Do you know of any?
Important to know what you can control and what you can't. Difficult not to, but we shouldn't worry about the latter.
Q4 A perception that Ts are accountable everything. We need to know limits (even if we try to push beyond).
I was talking SATs in Primaries.
Also ill-thought-out reforms, govt updates that are unhelpful, pressure from external sources...
are we ever going to get away from Govt reform though?
A4 Being receptive & not defensive about staff feedback regarding systems / policies that don't aid well being.
A4 lack of from when dealing with teachers is the biggest barrier to
A4: Outside 'support'. I found LEA / Ofsted / HMI weren't overly helpful for staff wellbeing.
limits are very important?
y6 SATS.WE stayed calm. We were doing meditations & mindful activities. During test, NO issues. Parents even commented
Teacher personality - stereotypical 'all or nothing' devotion to the 'vocation'.
amen. With poor/no agenda and lead to little/no action
. inclusion &collaboration, not competition (hard in with push for more competition )
Nonsense tick box policies & procedures (more about evidence than students) Good schs often maintain deg of flexibility
Yes! We are v lucky to have a v supportive Gov body and SLT who have prioritized wellbeing as a key point on our SIP
With well being we all must know where our limitations are and how much we can do.
With well being we all must know where our limitations are and how much we can do.
I've found that the new Ofsted style is much more supportive - worked alongside us to see if our j'ments were accurate
TIME!! ..well, lack of it really. Never enough time for whole department chat 'how are you?' etc.
A4 Sometimes an ingrained negative culture/being dragged down by moans can have an impact on wellbeing https://t.co/WL0Yw4qpk5
Interesting. My son was pushed into stress by school. Teacher put all her pressures onto kids in Yr 2 SATs!
or not making the time to talk through the issues
. agree. Think as a profession we try too hard to comply to outside factors. Hard to balance when some of it is legal req
agree - but even if it starts with s couple of people.
Continually adding to the wish list, while nothing drops off
So sounds like atmosphere and mindset in school important
We need to know what out OWN limits are. Know when to ask/seek help
A If encouraged by SLT then staff retention, enthusiastic staff more willing to give time, carefully prepped lessons, engaged kids
No. So, we need to not allow ourselves to get caught up in the neg. 1 day at time.
A5 Staff retention, thus stable workforce.
So true, lose the martyrdom
Yes. I think leadership of school have an important part to play here.
I work in a school very much the same. It make such a different to your WHOLE life
I don't tend to check them unless sitting down to work. Texting annoys me more!!
A4 Huge uncertainty and delay in information e.g. funding changes - leaders need to handle it carefully
A3. Support & appreciation-as a governor I make sure I show the teachers how much they are appreciated & say 'thank you'
@. nickotkdV indeed. Setting limits is important. Job can be endless
. indeed. Setting limits is important. Job can be endless
SLT need to consider every decision and factor in to every new initiative. Many are not worth impact of staff body!
need to be selective about what they implement?
Agreed. Moaning is not helpful. Acknowledging a problem and looking for a solution is what's needed! Move forward!
A5: It is such a hard job that you need an outlet, if not frustrations, unhappiness can infiltrate teaching.
Is no balance. Either fall behind professionally or miss out on seeing family.
A5 In the words of : happy teachers = happy students = improved outcomes
A5 happy staff = happy students
Sadly won't be possible for some schools that lose funding in National Funding Formula. A storm is brewing.
i know of Heads who text staff to tell them they have been emailed.
A5: benefits - happy, creative, inspired teachers which leads to happy and inspired children.
A4. Uncertainty, constant changes, high unreasonable demands/expectations, lack of freedom, too much red tape, lack of support
yes!! I made my feelings clear on that one!
absolutely. Initiatives should only be considered of worth impact on staff! Many new initiatives have little impact!
totally agree, can differ enormously from school to school!
A5:Prioritizing and finding balance leads to greater fulfilment, enjoyment, productivity.Acceptance of own limits is key
Better work. Happier life. Better relationships. More creativity etc.
Remember to use the hashtag.Thanks
Remember to use the hashtag.Thanks
Big no-notice changes throw me hugely. Stuff like assessments and deadlines etc. On a full timetable if I don't plan
Yes. We need to understand that we can't achieve everything for every child. It takes a village.
yes that leads to empowerment throughout the school.
Happier teachers results in better lessons which leads to better progression by students
A5: I come up with my best lessons when I am wandering through museums, sailing, going for a walk ...
After the stresses of SAT's why not rejuvenate everyone’s spirits with an exciting visit full of stories or poetry-Hourly Rate £50
Q5 – What are the impacts of maintain a good work life balance?
Q5 – What are the impacts of maintain a good work life balance?
poor little mite! No, we were mindful NOT to do that by keeping ourselves in check! Child & parents very pos re SATS
Yes, indeed. External pressures often lead to unhappy teachers though
well being is all about perspective
well being is all about perspective
how I'm using my time at the start of the week I'll never be effective without sacrificing an obscene amount of time.
A5: happiness, energy, positivity but also potential for doubt that more work could be done for school
I know, the gap just continues to widen. The job must be kept reasonably doable though to retain staff.
A5 - Happy teachers, with the energy & drive to make each day fun for the children & themselves. They make a great team
Hopefully your SLT will help buffer this though
A5: so important that we support each other - never understood Ts that don't share plans, SOWs etc...
We just said similar thing in our conversation
A5 Giving yourself space to think produces creative solutions, better than rushed decisions made when stressed.
Q5 Happier, more productive, more effective teachers and students. Good teachers staying in the profession.
This is the concern in schools. Not all schools' SLT are
achievable? what happens if the person needs something urgently?
A5 Work cannot overwhelm us, it is part of who we are, but it is not more important than our health
It's our dream to help people in Essex be successful and turn around their lives for the better! https://t.co/RtbwW5VayE
A5. Improved health, happier teachers, better teaching & therefore happier & more learned pupils
Staff who feel happy and healthy. Ts can teach effectively and also do things they enjoy in own time.
A6 Switching off mentally and using humour - even in serious situations
should teachers enjoyment and past times be brought into the classroom?
Agree entirely! Being happy means an open heart & inspiration flows https://t.co/RgyPm4eMIG
Happier teachers results in better lessons which leads to better progression by students
A6: try & get as much works as poss done at work, take opportunities to collaborate with colleagues, share resources...
Q - Should teachers enjoyment and past times be brought into the classroom?
Q - Should teachers enjoyment and past times be brought into the classroom?
A6 Being with the kids makes you do this. Sense of humour etc
Idea of 'choice' problematic. Those who can't 'chose' to work extra hours can miss out https://t.co/cVndW88KAV
Is no balance. Either fall behind professionally or miss out on seeing family.
shut out the negativity! Don't listen to those who hate on the job!
What time you are in and what time you leave school are not measures of how hard you work!
Q6 Breathe, put things into perspective and ask for help
Good planning leads to better progress which makes me feel happier about why we teach
yes but not commercial really and good reading materials. Staff loved it
Terrible! Give & take.... Trust & professionalism!
Q6 trying to keep a sense of perspective is important.
Love this! Need more in teaching
A6 keep eye on bigger picture, why you are doing it i.e. for the learners. Walk about if stressed, talk to others.
A4 stop assuming that money is a substitute for time. Never get time back.
A6 A team of supportive colleagues helps. Making time to visit the staffroom, visit other classes, learn from one another
A6: Focus on finding your own balance. Know your limits. Remember fun and laughter. Relationships make the difference
also lots of mindfulness! It's really worked for me and many of my students.
If they are relevant then yes, it helps students see you as a human being
Q6 – How do you maintain a sense of well being whilst working?
Q6 – How do you maintain a sense of well being whilst working?
whoops keep forgetting to add
A6: prioritise, don't compromise hobbies & socialising for work, identify when you've done enough, exercise & eat well
Again Q6 is all about know your limits. Know when and how to ask for support and guidance?
a6 talk to colleagues and remember to look outside your own school to get extra viewpoints
A6-use music, exercise with pupils, talk to them and use at least 1 activity that is worthy of a
even when you have the Lower ability Year 6 maths group a week before SATs
start with a list for the day...to have focus and clear sense of purpose-always taking moments to breathe!
I don't know how they keep staff to be honest!
A6: Especially important to look out for NQTs, we sometimes forget how hard it was at the start!
A6 Ensure that you plan for, and make time to play, have fun and laugh with your students and colleagues https://t.co/8FHtQXlAC7
Is this a reasonable response? https://t.co/yg5hlUYXkK
being a mid.lead & asking for 1 or 2 lessons off & being told you get a TLR=that makes up for losing precious time.
this is so important. Stein networks are crucial part of supporting wellbeing
Is this a reasonable response? https://t.co/GX5iwU4WPv
being a mid.lead & asking for 1 or 2 lessons off & being told you get a TLR=that makes up for losing precious time.
Q6 I love my job and want to be the best teacher I can, but family comes first. Always.
Creative lessons come to me when watching game shows on TV
know yourself; know your limitations & capacity
know yourself; know your limitations & capacity
A sense of humour and a good relationship with students is proberly as important as what you have planned
