Thanks, @txhsfbchat tonight I wanted to share my experiences and open it up for questions about changing the culture of a program and being a first time HC #TXHSFBCHAT
How do you deal with kids not buying in? I know you can’t coach the ones that don’t want to be there, what have you done to bring them back? #txhsfbchat
Culture is the purposeful belief and system that defines your core values and morals that you as a coach and your program stands for. Culture should be heard, said, and acted upon at all times. #txhsfbchat
A1: Culture is what you expect from the unit. Each individual needs to know they can not win by themselves so we expect the entire unit to meet a standard of competing for championships. #txhsfbchat
A1) Culture is the amalgamation of the standards you and your program hold itself to and the behavior you exhibit everyday in order to reach those expectations (or in some cases the lack thereof). Culture isnt a slogan or sign, it’s a living, breathing thing. #TXHSFBCHAT
A1: The consistent ALLOWED BEHAVIORS within your Coaching Staff and ultimately, your players. If your coaches don't live by it, it is impossible to create IMO. It takes years to build, and seconds to destroy. @tbanks1906 helped me with this one! #txhsfbchat
Culture is the level of standard that you set for your program. It's something that has to be created through actions, and carrying out those actions. It's what motivates you to run your program #TXHSFBCHAT
These 6 Bricks of our program each have a specific definition that we all learn, when you're a part of our program we all define these the same. The definition is not up for debate. Again so the expectation is clearly stated. #TXHSFBCHAT
As a JV coach that will take over program next year, I look at this as the single greatest misstep of our program right now. We don’t have a clearly defined set of values or mission statement. As a result, our athletes aren’t held to the standard that they should be. #TXHSFBCHAT
Without the missions statement or values, you will stand for nothing and good coaches will leave because they are frustrated with a lack of leadership. #TXHSFBCHAT
A2: Our "What" is our Core Beliefs or Mission Statement - Create Great Men for our community, that will be great husbands, great fathers, great employees or professionals and great servant leaders. If we accomplish this - Wins will take care of themselves #TXHSFBCHAT
Hiring staff is always tough, and time management...trying to get better at blocking times off in my day to get certain things done. If not I just fix problems and don't keep the program moving forward. #TXHSFBCHAT
A3: DO NOT be a Fireman be a Fire Marshall - have a plan and a schedule, anticipate problems before they happen - there is always hints, and make sure you take care of your own health & family #TXHSFBCHAT

History is an important Core Class, but NOT a way of Life! The Past is done, preform a frig'n exorcism and move on with unity and purpose or get off the darn Bus - THE FUTURE is what we NOW make it #TXHSFBCHAT
To be honest I was shocked by how much of my job has nothing to do@witb X’s & O’s. I learned quick to be thankful @HPUFootball we have a great staff!!! #TXHSFBCHAT
The thing I would leave you with is to challenge coaches out there not to be perfect men, but men that truly desire to build men, if we as coaches don't then WHO will? Here at @HPUFootball were not perfect but we're going to LOVE them hard!!! #TXHSFBCHAT
