Hi Jennifer! Missed your intro!
A2 When assessment is tied to student creation, all is right in my world.
Q2 While EOY testing is ongoing in WV, how do you assess Ss learning in your class? Is it out-of-the-box?
As TIS it's my role to assist with testing issues and be on call immediately. I don't work with Ts as much during this time
Images for are mixed Not good for scheduling in advance
A2: As a TSS I just make sure things work to complete the testing; much less stressful than last year
A2 Lots of self-assessment. Students have a list of things to demonstrate knowledge. They choose how to show me they've learned.
A2: Reading Most Likely To Succeed & it's affrmed &said well what I cldn't say. Now pushng boundrs of what Ss r lrng.
A2: Students need to be able to tell why the standard they are learning is relevant or important.
This is excellent! Is this in class or other options? https://t.co/8sHNgnzqQ4

Sorry I'm late. Stayed at school to work for a bit. Just getting home. Mike McCormick, TIS Lincoln Co.
A2: And beyond "it's on the ACT", I struggle with much of HS math. :/
FYI, when you answer a question, If you don't put "A#" first, won't record it as an answer to the Qs
Or was out to dinner ? How's baby? https://t.co/9Ef6JD5i5n

Mostly in class...it's guitar so kids have a lot of options. I'd love to get links to their YouTube channels.
As a math teacher, I was always amazed when I realized that my students did not even understand very basic concepts. My fault!
You need to connect w to talk guitars! https://t.co/xTgtIadRGu

I would just move on and not fix holes. I would use the "no time" excuse but I was just not looking at students demonstrating k.
Less emphasis on skills that & Photo math can perform, real probs, less prduct, more process
Q3 coming up - gr8 discussion tonight!
Q3: Think about Ss & Ts - What’s 1 thing you do to show they matter in your school? the world? https://t.co/YLOvOVzHT9
I have some great music resources to tie in to assessment of core subjects. People don't realize the power of music.
A3 Always address them/greet esp. when they say hi. Discuss their favorite things. Also fist bumps & high 5s!
A3: Listen to them; show them you really care what THEY have to say
Did you count high 5s this year? https://t.co/MxQTkirx45
A3 Always address them/greet esp. when they say hi. Discuss their favorite things. Also fist bumps & high 5s!
A3: Respect, respect, respect for teachers and students.
A3 Validate the work. If students have an assignment that means something to them, they are proud of the result of their efforts.
A3: Treat Ss w/ such an unusual level of tolerance, unusual amount of smiles at the door, & unusual amnt of patience. That's how.
A3: Let them know you really care. They know if you are faking it. So don’t.
I high 5'ed every student in attendance at HMS on the first day of school as they left the gym for their classes
A3 Recognition, Appreciation and opportunity to share their knowledge
A3: Insist on nothing but their best and call them on it when they are just phoning it in.
Can't retell blog post about high 5s w/o crying. It's so good.
A3 Always give every Ss a voice in your class, whether public or with you later. They need to know you truly care
A3: I have around 300 Ss a day and try my best to be attentive and show kindness to as many as possible.

A4: working to empower Ss to seek out, study & learn
A4: I only see them for 9 weeks. I try to make music a fun-but rigorous- experience everyday
A4: I have observed many classrooms moving from teacher-led to student-centered this year. We celebrate failures with successes.
I love these Qs Be on my mind a while!
A4: teach them to work hard and try new things and see if you enjoy it
My Ss have changed & grown and they amaze me. Admittedly at love fest stage, but they're stronger thinkers & much more confident
I am having a hard time keeping up with because I have to keep letting mine in and out and in and out and...
A4: Always try new things and don't be afraid to fail
Love to hear your definition of rigorous https://t.co/swMhIYeLZR
A4: I only see them for 9 weeks. I try to make music a fun-but rigorous- experience everyday
A4: Try to teach them to know when it's OK to ask for help and when they just need to do it themselves.
Anyone doing 3word test w/their Ss? Takes kahoonas "3 words to describe this class?" Word cloud it. Did ur GPS hit the mark?
It's fulfilling to see the changes, right? https://t.co/IIhgzZrXWi
My Ss have changed & grown and they amaze me. Admittedly at love fest stage, but they're stronger thinkers & much more confident

And then give them some bright lights to blind the people that walk by. https://t.co/KbtEsbFA15
A4: My quest is to change mirrors into windows for all students
As a WV graduate...it happened for me...it can happen for today's students as well
I was just followed by 3 accounts related to gaining muscle. Is someone in this chat lying about me again?!
A5 If students create something to demonstrate their understanding that means something to them personally, they flourish.
A5: If not done in overkill mode, guide students to see weaknesses and create something new

topic from the past - thx for bringing it up https://t.co/cJLSf9uQHl
A5: formative assessments are instructional strategies.
I've already done 1 week of testing and am so over it... 3 more weeks to go after this
A4) My Ss write a letter to themselves I don't read, seal it. I give it to them on last day of class. Reactions = awesome.
I agree. If an assessment isn't fun for the students and the teacher, why do it? https://t.co/xPebLymy40
Q5 I think we are burnt out on assessments!
Ss making book trailers using Moviemaker for first time going well. Visit Wahama Library Video channel, please!

(Standardized testing excepted, or course.)
A5) self assessment!! I love flipping the script and saying "ok--score yourself"
If assessment is transformation of knowledge, we're on to something. If for only a grade, maybe not. Authentic & meaningful key
A5: I do that every time. I never score by number right over number wrong.
awesome idea! Maybe I'll film it this year!
Excellent! https://t.co/XPC1znO3b6
