Biggest resistance seems to come from those with previous 'bad flip' experience and those who do not want to actively learn/be challenged. #flipclass#flipclasschat

I try to use video/quizes like pokemon...catch all the points, redo, master, correct, and benefit if you wish. As we move into tougher material and Q3 I have moved to Edpuzzle and embeded Qs for more data and accountability. #flipclass#flipclasschat
A1 Seen bad results when Ts feel forced to use #flipclass, so 'everyone is doing it'. Other reason is if it is perceived to be easier than traditional. #flipclasschat

A2: my 1st hurdle was figuring out what I was going to do with class time. #flipclass was 1st explained to me as "vids @ home, homework in class" & the thought of p.???: ??-?? in class was repulsive to me. #flipclasschat
Yes, and it works. Before I started #flipclass if you missed class you got a copy of the PPT but not the explanation. Now you get both. :) #flipclasschat. You do miss some great application activities though.

A2 Biggest hurdle - didn't know much about video tech 7 yrs ago, limited video lessons available + giving up good 1st teach lecture that worked for many (but not 20% of my Ss) #flipclass
AGREED!!!! Preach it!!! However, as I was discussing with some other #flipclass folks another time I am still getting those kids more than I ever did before flip and they bear more of the responsibility for their learning now. #flipclass#flipclasschat

LOL...yes, that's probably the resistance I meet the most - wanting to copy but not listen to the vids. And it does usually catch up with them. #flipclasschat#flipclass
I can usually tell who isn't listening quickly; normally all it takes is a conversation & they self-correct. I have a girl this year who doesn't listen but is getting everything just fine; she apparently doesn't need to hear me. #flipclasschat#flipclass
A3 I was caught off guard when Ss and parents told me to go back to teaching when I was putting so much work into great learning experience. I just wasn't lecturing as expected #flipclass
A3: Yr 1 of #flipclass the biggest challenge was TIME; the other biggest challenge (and one I still work on) is structuring class time effectively. #flipclasschat
Sorry somehow Qs aren’t coming up in my search. A2 time for planning and recording is still a huge hurdle for me. It’s so much easier in a bad way to say oh, right, types of reactions, I’ll just do a big lesson on the board today off my head because I failed to plan #flipclass
A3: TIME. all the time to front-load the work. How much time it took to make the vids. How much time I had in class now that I didn’t lecture. #flipclass

A3 (search fine, never mind :)) when I first learned about flipped classrooms, I think the innovations of what to do in the group space/class time were still developing, though mastery is mentioned in Bergmann & Samms book, so didn’t much know what to do myself #flipclass

I remember there was one chat all your messages suddenly stopped showing up, but this time it was just the Qs, and just temporarily (for me at least)...maybe there was a little hiccup until they realized it’s just that awesome @matthew_t_moore guy, let him through :) #flipclass

A4: I would say 1) lack of knowledge about it and 2) time to invest in it. #flipclass does take a lot of time on the front end and not everyone has or is willing to spend that much time on it #flipclasschat
A4 time, tech savvy, misconceptions needing a guide (I keep remembering @matthew_t_moore ‘s blog post about people failing to flip due to a lack of fishing instructors to teach you how to “fish”)...and lack of faith in Ss. #flipclass
A4 Hosting open houses where other Ts can see what #flipclass really looks like and talk to teachers w/success stories can help with the hurdles. #flipclasschat
A3 not for pity but for my need to be realistic: I’ve got pneumonia - getting better, but still sick. #flipclass will help in some ways, but it will still be a challenge as I get ready to morefully flip a class than I ever have before. Will need to pace myself.
