    Sometimes it seems that the “high group” thinks they can coast on their laurels and do minimal work, especially if, god forbid, they find the work is challenging in any way. A lot of fixed mindsets in this group. #4thchat

    I just find it weird because these students asked for these projects but didn’t actually do the work. Plus they were like well we got it done in 1 day.. ugh no you didn’t you plagiarized the whole poster. #4thchat

    A2: Students collect and interpret data during our persuasive writing unit. Science is also a big one. We are using a new NGSS @HMHCo science curriculum this year. Students are collecting data weekly during their hands on activities. #4thchat

    #4thchat A4 So much of math in 4th is number sense--there is some data analysis and some in science, but it's not a huge part of the year. Usually have Ss create data in sci, analyze data in math class.

    I would start with a Google Form, push out to students. Have them input information and find the sheet where data is collected. Then they can make graphs from that data. Lots of YouTube videos to show this! #4thchat

    #4thchat I think one of the challenges in teaching data literacy is when it's taught as a skill, Ss think it's a calculation or "reading a graph" in real life we have overlapping/conflicting data--we have to use to triangulate/prioritize/ignore to make decisions.
