I think that you are correct, Lisa. Self-regulation plays a role. Locus of control is key.

Inspiring that "I can" feeling is what educ's need to focus on, thus it's become the main thrust of my work.
A: Ownership and independence leads to confidence for learners to set goals and take steps towards reaching their goals.

A5: they need to be able to think, learn, & make adjustments based on what's happening & what learning

A6: Worked with a S on addition. He was having difficulty. At home he practiced in his rm. Couldn't wait to show me.
A6: it's a process; Ss are so used to close ended & T-directed learning it takes some time for them to buy-in but they do!!

A6: I taught using writer's workshop. It was the highest quality - & highest volume - of work I ever had. They were owning it.
