A1: Most egg-citing thing have done this year is change jobs, nervous at first to leave the classroom but after six months I truly love being able to support so many teachers and school across London #caschat
A1 We did @bebrasuk for first time. Got a bunch of students thru to TCS Oxford Challenge - excellent fun. Sorry late to the party tonight...Year 7 Parents Eve #caschat
A2 Making things 'real' - show students that code can control something real. Flowol, RasPi + LEDs, @_codebug or @microbit_edu Anything that can fire their imagination #caschat
A2 Encourage children to design a program that uses the example you have used. Focus on features to include. Don’t get them to copy what you have demonstrated. #caschat 🥚

A2: Take the computing out of the discrete highly scaffolded lessons and place it into rich cross curricular open ended learning, Give the students advice+support and then let them show you what they can do #caschat
A2 Give them a real ‘brief’ eg. My Reception class children aren’t very good at controlling the mouse... can you design an activity where they have to click on sprites to score points? Their ideas were fab #caschat
A3:I have been thinking about this a lot recently, I think we need to support parents more in the use of tech at home, sharing with them that tech can help to strengthen communication and creativity. We need to show how we can build positive relationships with technology #caschat

A3 - I’ve ran a family hack jam at school with the help of the legend that is @teknoteacher Families came together to do something with tech. I really liked it. Something to consider? #caschat

Great point Bradley! Get the students involved too! We've used student digital leaders in the past to run eSafety workshops with parents and computing workshops with staf from our Primary feeders. #caschat

A3: Not much. I would love to do a parent night but haven't yet and may not have time this year. I have students who love to code at home but that's not anything I do. #caschat
A4 - tw most challenging one I do is building a raspberry pi controlled robot for #PiWars. It’s tough. But the kids keep coming back for more.

I think at the moment you get the polar opposites of parents use of technology. You either get parents who use tech as digital babysitting or the other parents who are affaid of tech and not letting children use it at all, more parents need to see the positives #caschat
My 5th graders also created maths games/quizzes for the younger friends with @hopscotch! Great way to improve maths & coding skills at the same time. #caschat

A5 Getting away!! We are constantly checking Secret Escapes for bargains. Off to Italy (again) for a few days. Then catching up with family and friends...and staying up late! #caschat
I am amazing proud of what my students acheive- for a one woman department we make a lot of noise - luckily we have the support of some fab STEM companies in the north west who keep us supplied with ideas and ambassadors. #caschat
