It's the eve of Friday eve and it's 8:30 PM! That means it's time for #txed ! Jerry Toups HS Math Tr from the Houston, TX area. Been teaching my Ss to #AlwaysBelieve since 1990. 28 years of waking up and wanting to go to work = #Blessed
Team is a groups of people who’s support each other and are working towards a common goal. It doesn’t mean having the same t-shirt on the same day. #txed
#txed A1 The team in terms of education is ALL of the staff involved in making the school a happy place where Ss learn. VIP = custodians kitchen staff, maintenance staff, So many to name besides the Trs Admin, Csrs Secretaries and nurses. So many people involved.
A1 All those who are involved in the education of our Ss. Parents, teachers, administrators, tutors, interventionists...all working together in the interest of what is best for Ss.
A1: TEAM to me is all stakeholders learning, stretching, growing, working together for a common goal, bringing ideas to the table and willingly collaborating to go from good to great, to get better, for the kids. #TxEd
A1- A team is a group of people with a common goal. In education our teams consist of Teachers, Admin, students, parents, and stakeholders! We all want kids to be successful, and try our hardest to work together to make that happen. #TxEd
#txed A1 -- Jim, MS Counselor from Central Texas. People taking the best of what they do, helping and serving others to fill in the cracks and impact kids.
A1: People who collaborate, stick together and support each other, help each other grow, people you can lean on for support but also you can count on for honest feedback #TXed
A great team needs collaboration and communication. They also need to realize what they bring to the table and what others have to offer to better the group. #TXed
A2- A great team needs collaboration and communication. They also need to realize what they bring to the table and what others have to offer to better the group. #TXed
A2 @DrMercadoPhD’s #EColorsInEducation is what teamwork is all about! Each member of the team has strengths & potential limiters - when color combinations come together team outcomes are amazing! #TXed
A2- A great team needs collaboration and communication. They also need to realize what they bring to the table and what others have to offer to better the group. #TXed
#txed A2 Confidence, compassion, humility, and character, just to name a few. Champions adapt and overcome, losers make excuses. When great teams succeed they make the others around them become better.
A3 a great way to build trust is creating norms together. When you agree upon a predetermined set of guidelines, it’s easier to hold each other accountable #txed
A2- There really is no “I” on team. You have to have collaboration, but you also have to have the drive to put your plan into play. There has to be enough trust to be able to have hard conversations, and you have to be flexible because change is inevitable. #TxEd
A3: I believe that in order to build trust there must be honesty and time. The only way to build it is to give opportunities to do just that. Communicate! #txed
A3: It's important for us to be vulnerable with one another. We need to be present, to make sure we understand the common goal, to write a social contract or your promise to one another, to agree to confront problems, but care-front people. #txed
A3- Trust takes time to establish. It comes from following through on what you say, openly communicating, and supporting each other towards the common goal. #txed
More and more districts are creating a culture of voting! Imagine what a robust democracy we will have with students learning about becoming informed voters from educators modeling civic engagement! Kudos @LewisvilleISD and @mishshel#vote#txed
Thank you @mishshel for speaking with the @LewisvilleISD education community about cultivating a culture of voting this evening! There is much work to be done to ensure the best public education available to our students & it starts with informed voters! #txed
A2 The work of flexibility. Teams should have the ability to be professional, all in, and work for a purpose. Teams need to be willing to change and move against the current too. #txed
Walk a mile in their shoes. Go through what they go through and understand. Then be sure to do what you say and say what you do. Kinda like Horton Hears a Who! #txed
A2: selfless, sacrificing, communicator, thinker, doer, dreamer, believer, trustworthy, responsible, and humble. There are so many more but ultimately you need to care more about the sum than your own part #TXed
A3 offer to do something and then follow through, always look at the positive side so that a solution can be found rather than more problems to solve, *Be who you say you are. Do what you say you’ll do.* #TXed
A4: I think this goes back to the commitment and emotional connections. If you have a connection with your team you instinctively hold yourselves accountable. You don't want to let them down. #txed
#txed A4 All Trs and administrators need to be in a position to call out others when they are lagging in a compassionate way. Call out the problems and be part of the solution. Let the wrong doer know you are there for them. #ItsAllAboutTheKids
A4 Lovingly speak truth. If something isn’t focused on students (I.e. focused on what the adults want, doing what makes our jobs easy instead of what’s best for kids, etc.) start a conversation to reset the focus. Live what we say and be willing to accept the same feedback! #txed
A4 Accountability requires honest, open communication. It requires being confident enough in the relationship to expect more from the relationship. #txed
This is why I mop, serve, direct traffic, pick up cones, round up stray dogs on campus and try to do as many things as possible at the campus. I can’t ask people to do thing I wouldn’t be willing to do myself. #txed.
A4- Open communication and honesty will help with accountability. If everyone knows their role on the team then they should be using their strengths to move towards the team's goal. #TXed

A4- I think accountability comes with hard conversations. But, you can’t take it personal. Sometimes to grow you have to see things about yourself you don’t want to see. #TxEd
I like the idea of visibly posting the goals. The conversations can always lead back to them, and you can adjust the goals more easily that way. Great point! #txed

A4 If you wonder if teams are holding up their end of the deal- just listen to their conversations. You’ll know if everyone is collaborating and offering up ideas and ways they can help. #TXed

A4: Make it safe for staff to approach you w/ problems, as “shooting the messenger” will only encourage them to start hiding future problems. Instead, turn mistakes into lessons. #txed
A4: You have to have open and honest communication, an agreement to stay open minded, not give up, and continuously reflect on progress of goals/expectations
#TXed

A5: Have places for personal and professional conversations. Our team communicates professionally through email but we share personal stories through GroupMe. #txed

This (twitter) is one way. West Weekly, phone blasts, texts, emails, face to face meetings. And the always popular “choir practices.” Which reminds me. We need to have one. #txed.
A5: This goes back to time for me. Good communication takes a lot of it! I communicate using email, IM and text—but my favorite is in person. I’m approachable and my space is our space. I like gatherings in my office and in every other area of the school. #txed
I went so far to make sure that our goals and value statements were included on every cabinet administrative or board agenda, ensuring that what we discussed meshed w/ these goals #txed

I love walking halls after school and touching base with teachers sans students. We can reflect on the day and lessons. That’s when the best learning happens. #txed

#txed teacher friends, speaking of communication, something really Awesome happened to me Thursday evening. My book "The Story Of Always Believe" was accepted by Christian Faith Publishing. I will be signing the contract soon. Should be available by late summer.
A5- every tool we can. I google chat with teachers at other campuses when I’m looking for something. We text. We eat. We laugh. And sometimes we hot tub together when it’s an ice holiday. #TXed
Know, understand, accept, and be responsible enough to recognize that building and maintaining a positive team environment is EVERYONE’S responsibility. If you don’t believe that, you’re in the wrong team. #txed.
A6: the advise I would give others is to listen more than you talk, be approachable and HAVE FUN! We take things so seriously sometimes that I think communication can be guarded. Lighten up sometimes! #txed
A5-The focus of the team's conversation is the direction the team will go. Focus on the bad the team will become negative. Focus on the positive...and I'll show you a great team #TXed
A6 - build a relationship, establish trust. Always work to maintain the relationship and trust. Be open to all forms of feedback. Live through it, laugh through it, cry through it and love one another. #TXED
A6 Be willing to be ALL in. The good, the great, and the ugly. You have to be willing to be real which means not all conversations will be “pretty.” Remember it’s not about us adults...the kids are our focus! (Or should be if not. ) #txed
I’ve been lurking here and the thought just occurred- As a life skills teacher, I have no team; being separated it hard. Don’t forget your SPED teachers in your team making and building and doing! 😊 #txed
A6: I think administration needs to think about team dynamics when placing people on teams. You need a balance of personalities. It is also important to have trust, communication, and a willingness to work towards the same goal. #TXed
#txed A6 In terms of an educational team, ALL members need to realize they are ALL ABOUT THE KIDS! When you realize this, the interactions with the kids will produce #Joy
A6- You have to keep a sense of humor. I take my job seriously, but I love being funny. So anytime anything goes wrong I always have to put a little humor in it. Sometimes I laugh so I don’t cry. #TxEd
A5: Positive teams are led by positive leaders, so start with yourself. Next, remove the obstacles that could have a negative influence on your team's positivity. #TXed

#blockvote has anti-ed grps running scared. Pouring money in races they thought were safe. Endless FOIAs to intimidate educators. Paxton saying 18 yo srs. can take field trips to zoos but not to polls to experience voting. Patrick talking like he likes teachers. #notfooled#txed
Q6: You are the captain...you build your team with the right people and you have to BE PRESENT and pay attention to the PULSE. In times of high stress...great leaders can feel it...notes of appreciation, food, and encouragement are good starters! #TXed
Everywhere we go across our great Lone Star State of Texas, we find pastors are deeply grateful for #txed teachers & schools, & firmly committed in service to them. Why isn’t this support found universally & unanimously in the #txlege? Vote on behalf of TX schoolchildren in 2018!
