hi #teachnvchat friends! I'm Sara, a K teacher in Lake Tahoe, NV. We are getting ready for Declamation next week and I'm so impressed with the Ss each morning when we rehearse! https://t.co/NPBuUFnLis
R1: asking difficult questions. I think sometimes playing devils advocate is a good thing. We need people that aren’t “yes women and men” who are willing to push and ask “Why?” If you can’t answer that question, how are you expected to improve and learn? #teachNVchat
A1...i think being willing to hear ideas from others and then be willing to chang the original path you started. We have to be open to ideas and good listeners as leaders. #teachnvchat
A1: Patiently. Find a starting point b/w "all in" and afraid. Change, even when positive can be stressful and needs authentic buy-in to sustain. #teachNVchat
YES! When moving through change-it is critical to celebrate small successes along the way. We draw strength to keep moving forward from those. #teachNVchat
For sure. A colleague and I were just talking about challenging the We do it this way because we've always done it this way mentality. It's VITAL but can be seen as adversarial. #teachnvchat
A1 great question not really sure I have a great answer but I would say being open to others ideas being willing to try new things and allow those you supervise to test new things with out fear of failure #TeachNVchat#Leadupchat
A1 the message/vision should be clear, it’s often frustrating that we have been asked to do so much & ever year we add, add, but hardly leave time to discuss what can we take off our plate. #teachnvchat
A1: Change is HARD! The process has to start long before the change is presented by developing trust, relationships, and respect for others opinions even when you disagree... #teachnvchat
#truth we need to talk about why this "new" thing is going to connect to what we already do & be best for kids-if not is it something we need to do? maybe not #teachNVchat
A2: This confirms the need to focus on skills more than content. Our students need to learn to be learners-flexible-asking the right questions to get the information they need. #teachNVchat
A2:with technology, social unrest, and all that comes with the modern world,it's important that we aren't afraid to tackle important issues, provide a space for Ss to dialogue & be heard. #teachNVchat
A2 How we educators deal with VUCA, large and small, in our lives, career, and world, models adaptation to our students. Or as I always say, Drop back and punt. #teachNVchat
R2: there is this push for #FutureReady in preparing our Ss for jobs that don’t exist. Unfortunately, we need to look at preparing our students for the #NOW as well. Being #NowReady and #FutureReady will get our Ss to the finish line ahead of others. #teachNVchat
A2 I think teachers have to accept thing have changed & adapt. We are facilitators of learning experiences & need to guide students, help them ask questions, we don’t need to have the answers to be good teachers #adapt#GrowthMindset#edugladiators#TeachNVchat
R2: are we using 4C mentality? Colleges are looking for Ss who can think critically, be creative, collaborate, and communicate. Some are looking for how they are involved in the community as well. Do our Ss have these skills? #teachNVchat
for some the idea of not being the "answer" person is a hard adjustment-we need to guide students to finding the answers not just giving them to them #teachnvchat
Personally, I think these skills are somewhat more important than the content that I am expected to teach. Life long learners who can do these things might be more important than knowing a type of rock or a layer of the sun. #TeachNVChat

A2: Continuing to build students' knowledge about the world they live in - this will serve them well in the current work force as well as those unknown jobs that the future holds! #teachnvchat
I'm sure #teachnvchat is great tonight, however, I just walked in the door from the long drive from Reno and I am spent! Thanks to @BDicksonNV and @AMDicksonNV for the hospitality yesterday, watch for a big annoucwnt from Ben and I soon!
A3 I love to see less of “I” and “you” and more of “we, us, and ours.” Teachers have too long lives Ms in silos and it’s really hard to break down real and metaphorical walls. #teachNVchat
A3: After seeing some incredible students yesterday, I want to see us take the beginning steps to build a mastery based learning strand in our secondary schools-whether it is on our traditional buildings or an alternative setting.. #TeachNVchat
R3: I want a school where there are wide open spaces instead of classrooms where kids of all levels work on authentic #PBL activities. There are no departments and Ts help students accomplish the task based on their content area. #teachNVchat
Bonus Question to end on! What did you think? would you like to see more best of Ed chats as possible topics?
Want to moderate and have a topic to discuss DM us @teachNVACS or @BDicksonNV#teachNVchat
A3: A real investment in educators as experts/professionals. Seeking them out to teach others, share expertise, write/publish. Opportunities for the educators to have seats at all the tables & be part of the forward evolution in EDU.#TeachNVchat
A2 I have been described as an “innovative” teacher, but the epiphany is that I’m not trying to stay current, but I love to learn. Our Ss need to understand how to love learning & they will be fine. teachNVchat
