A2 Make the classroom a safe place to be. I contacted the parents of every ss in Year 9 class at the start of the year so that they knew who I was. Not just some scary, faceless T. #tededchat
A2 Know what is culturally appropriate, get their names right (Why is this still so hard for people?), ask questions, show different voices... #tededchat
I physically cringed at our end of year prizegiving as the name of one of our students was mangled every time it was said. I felt so sad for her & angry on her behalf. #TEDEdChat
A2: I think getting to know your students and their individual culture is pivitol in the classroom. Spending that extra time getting to know them and a little bit about their background is so important. #EDUC5334#TEDEdChat
Some names are super Difficult. I have a student this year who's name is Godspower.... No joke... When I first read that name on the role I was so worried I would say it incorrectly or offend him.... #EDUC5334#TEDEdChat
