The mission of #TynkerChat: Are we adequately preparing students for an unknown future? Can we, through community and sharing, make this unknown βknown?β Let us lift up the conversation about making sure that when our students enter the workforce- they have the skills to thrive.
#TynkerChat will be held every Monday, starting March 13th.
Welcome to this week's #TynkerChat! We're looking for great ideas on the topic: Putting the 'S' in #STEAM. What have you done with #coding and #science?
Tell us who you are and where you're from!
#CSK8#MakerEd#csforall
A1: I see great possibilities for analyzing data with code, learning some simple scripting with #googlesheets or #excel and running trials with code can provide data #tynkerchat@gotynker
#tynkerchat Q1: Good Evening, Tama here from Atlanta - Science has so many interesting topics that allow it to be conducive to coding, i.e. steps to figure something out, how to, coding facts....
A1: Science is all about exploring the world around us, experimenting, testing our ideas and thinking critically to solve problems... just like coding #TynkerChat
A2: Building on what @mr_isaacs said- using #coding to study human behavior. You can run Pearson R equations in #GoogleSheets- then run scripts to parse your data. #Tynkerchat
A2: Anything that needs data recorded - I would incorporate teaching my 5th grade Ss how to collect data in an excel spreadsheet & how to create a graph from it #tynkerchat
A2: Physics and biology are both great topics to integrate cs in science, but Earth/Space science lends itself to some fun programming opportunities #TynkerChat
Play, play and play some more (Once you start it is hard to stop) Hour of Code activities are great ways to start to introduce yourself and your Ss. #tynkerchat
#tynkerchat Q3) using the raspberry pi and various sensors to collect scientific data temperature, videos of experiments, and ultra violet light detection.
A4: Get your students involved with creating their own projects and invite the #science teachers to see the final projects. Gives the #science teachers immediate buy in when they see what their students can create. #tynkerchat
Thanks everyone! Thank you so much for joining #TynkerChat today! Keep the conversation going all week long with the hashtag!
Don't forget that we're looking for new @gotynker Blue Ribbon educators! Please share! https://t.co/Pq2wvausT0
