Good evening #OrEdChat ! We all created the mission and vision statements: Mission of the Plato R-V School District, in a cooperative effort with parents, students, and community is to: create, motivate, and educate lifelong learners...everyone, everyday!
A1: Bringing in new voices/faces not only inspires better work in Ss but also in Ts. Did a PD day recently w/Twitter friends as experts via Google Hangouts. Was awesome! #OrEdChat
A2: YES!! Though I would like to include more time for student innovation and for self-assessment. I want to teach them how to really assess not just give a smiley face for their performance on a task. #OrEdChat
A2: It may not yet, but my classroom vision grows and improves daily. Bringing the world into my classroom, pushing back against "because it's always done this way" are some ways my vision has grown. #OrEdChat
My dad taught me to question everything from early on. As an edu, he understood that necessity. He never gave the same answer twice just so we'd learn to question everyone. #OrEdChat
A4: I really want to make this more of a focus. I find it hard when we go from one subject to the next all day long. I feel like I'm constantly out of time for everything #OrEdChat
A4:I think allowing choice is a first step to innovation. Once students see that their ideas matter to you they will take off and come up with lots of ideas. :-) #OrEdChat
A4 Don't directly ans a question Ask "What do you think?" or "How would you explain that?" Put ownership on Ss shoulders That encourages innovation #OrEdChat
A5: No more separate subjects. Integrating across the curriculum with project based learning. AND LET THE KIDS RUN AT RECESS! I get so tired of them having so many rules during recess.... #OrEdChat
A4: My Ss in each subject get to have a voice in how we do things and I always review my activities with them to see how I can improve. Some of my best lesson activities are totally S innovations. #OrEdChat
AND they could socialize with kids outside of their classroom. It would be so nice especially in the spring when they start to get on each others nerves! :) #OrEdChat

A5 Grades; when Ss are engaged in learning sets or outcomes they relax & work toward understanding Grades move focus from self to a hard to define letter #OrEdChat
A5: It is at T discretion in classroom, but it has to be for "edu" purposes only. No listening to music with headphones, for ex. But some Ss can concentrate better in class while working if they can listen to their music. #OrEdChat
A6: What if we stop focusing on the "things" to be taught & started focusing on the skills behind them. What if we stop calling them "soft skills" & started calling them all skills. What if we focus on our Ss future & not our own past. #OrEdChat
A5: If I had unlimited power and reaources, I would restructure school to eliminate grade levels, opting instead for advancement based on mastery. Then I'd eliminate discrete subjects, focusing on skills & knowledge gained through projects, work samples, & portfolios. #oredchat
A1: A larger community brings greater knowledge and resources and acts as a catalyst for the innovator's mindset. It gives a greater purpose! #oredchat
