Good morning #bfc530! Today I’m relying on ppl driving 3 or 4 hours so my kids and I can get to school/work. Thankful I can find help in my chaotic life ( but could do with a little less chaos.) Have a great Wednesday !!
Good morning! As a ‘newer’ teacher, I can’t really speak to that, but I would say that the biggest impact on my teaching has been the #shiftthis move towards empowering kiddos in the classroom. Having them own their learning and environment. It made a huge change for me #bfc530
G'mornin', #bfc530!
Woke up early, made the mistake of socialmedia-ing before being other-productive. Stumbled upon author @racheltoalson and am now fascinated and intrigued. #rabbitholemorning

In VA, the (too) gradual move away from high stakes testing. It hasn't gone away, but we r moving int he right direction with it #bfc530#patienceisnotmystrength

Good morning #bfc530!
For me, the biggest change has been our move towards going gradeless. Although we still have grades in secondary, the focus is on conferencing to support S self-assessment in all subjects (not just ELA)
I attempt to grow/change as every year goes by. With each, the newest change becomes the freshest and most important. Currently it is to have grades be a true reflection of mastery and updating grades when mastery is achieved. I'm still working on what % should be mastery.#bfc530

Least restrictive environment for Ss with special needs. Their inclusion in the general ed classroom has made me professionally bulk up with skills that all Ss have benefited from #BFC530
Edu-Twitter I love hearing & discussing educational thoughts & we just do not have the time to do that within the school day, even though we all agree sharing & listening to ideas is how we grow. My students have benefited from the discussions I have had here. #bfc530

My gut response is access to others' teaching via chats like these. Or technology providing voice & opty to our Ss. But I can't get away from the impact of #SEL and relationship-building has on creating a more positive & productive learning climate. #bfc530

I honk the best #edutrend in the past 20 years is the increased connectivity amongst educators. The sharing of ideas has revolutionized education. #bfc530
I think the more toward project based learning has been very positive. Getting away from one right answer, multiple choice, etc. and giving students the space to explore and dig into their own learning. #bfc530#PBL

Social media -- primarily Twitter -- has empowered me to take control of my professional development.
The information is great, the strategies are inspiring, and the people I've connected with are awesome!!
#bfc530
I think that one of the greatest #edutrends is that educators and students are actively seeking connection and collaboration. They are flattening the walls and reaching out beyond their classrooms and schools. #bfc530
Getting National Board Certified hands down. Changed who I am as a teacher by making me think deeply about good teaching practices. Best PD a teacher can do if they put their whole heart into it. #BFC530
Morning #bfc530
I am going to say I love the "trend" that I see with students being encouraged to by "Up-standers" to help reduce bullying. I see much less against the #LGBTQ community:)
Well #bfc530, maybe I should answer the question too. My biggest “ trend” in the past ten years has been switching to a flipped classroom. It’s made so many positive changes
#bfc530 I think I've been most impacted by the thinking around inclusive practices and differentiation and UDL. The idea that all kids deserve the best opportunity to learn that's right for them. I've learned so much about helping all kids in the same space.

Good morning all, happy Wednesday! For me the most powerful has been the shift in grading practices... grading for learning, removing behavior from the mix into a separate data point, flexible pacing, additional time/paths toward mastery, student voice & choice, etc. #bfc530
Greetings #bfc530 friends. Its been a while. I'd say the biggest #edutrend w/ positive impact has been building a #PLN through #Twitter. Its opened up a whole new world.

2nd trend would be inquiry based learning that I've seen in international schools. I love seeing kids encouraged to pursue their own interests and ask hard questions #bfc530
We are not standards based yet, but I'm using it to reflect their A-F grade. It's not the easiest thing to track, plus I can't update after the grading period closes and then they master. #bfc530
I think the strange point here is that there has been a push toward project based learning while at the same time schools have been removing project based classes like Wood Shop, Home Ec, Metal Shop, Art #bfc530
Social Media. We are able to connect on such a global level. I have learned so much in the last 7 months but being active onn Twitter. Has made such an impact on my leadership & also roles into my personal life! https://t.co/KXU5KOtouZ#bfc530
I also think another trend is the global focus of curriculum & solving real world problems by young people. They really want the world to be a better place b/c of them #bfc530
In the last 4 years our efforts to individualize our weekly PD has had a strong impact. It's not easy to make all Ts happy or to meet everyone's needs, but I think we've finally figured it out!
#bfc530
Good morning everyone. The biggest change for me in the last 10 years has been the lessening of emphasis on homework and the increase of project based, collaborative curriculum. Tons more global connections. #BFC530
The data that pinpoints achievement gaps beginning at infancy. It changed how I experience s defificits, proficiencies and surplus in the class room. #BFC530
For so many of us @rharwood17! We had a parent oreitation for incoming 9th graders last night and I was encouraging a fellow teacher to use Twitter for PD:)
Of course I plugged #BFC530
Greetings #bfc530 friends. Its been a while. I'd say the biggest #edutrend w/ positive impact has been building a #PLN through #Twitter. Its opened up a whole new world.
The trends I love that I have seen are a larger focus on #SEL, a renewed understanding of multiple pathways to postsecondary success and a focus on real world #servicelearning and helping students at all ages see that they can make a difference. #BFC530
Agreed. However, now some of those are being replaced by #makerspaces or #STEAM classes. I do wish those hands on classes were a bigger emphasis though. #bfc530
Sharing has become more common in education in the past ten years. Sharing resources and ideas on Twitter, reading recs between Ts and Ss, sharing S writing with more authentic audiences, podcasts that share practical tips and solid reasons for Ts to invite change. #BFC530

Gosh! Building my #PLN#PLF on Twitter and through #EdCamp! Making those connections has been priceless for me both personally and professionally. #BFC530
😂 early morning tweets sometimes goes from thinking to honking ... I also suffer from chubby thumb syndrome and an auto correct that is determined to make me look silly 😜 #bfc530
Ha, there have been times here that I have mangled the English language on a Tweet and I walk away from the computer realizing I need another cup of coffee. #bfc530
Hopefully as the understanding of multiple pathways to success continues to grow again, we will see a growth in #CTE and an overall push for real world application and hands on learning again! #bfc530

For sure the advent of T communities on Twitter and more broadly the Web 2.0 tools that emerged. In Australia, #eLearning started to become a normal part of T practice, even embedded in Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (2.6.2). See https://t.co/41S9IjfntZ#bfc530
The “makerspaces” are not a replacement for a true shop ... making things from paper towel rolls and straws is not the same thing as designing a piece of furniture ... I have yet to see much come out of a Maker lab on par with shop class of 20 yrs ago #bfc530

I hit snooze a couple times so I’m late! But I agree about Twitter. I’ve been able to reach out to other educators and work with them and along side them. #bfc530
This is an awesome example ... the only issue is this is a single small class ... the arguement for shop classes is really about every student participating in the class not just select students. #bfc530
Interesting. My HS shop class was definitely not for every student. It was an elective that only a few people actually took. I took it for 2 years. :) #bfc530
When I was supporting a #makerspace in a middle school, many students who would have taken shop had packed schedules. I coordinated with our shop/tech teacher and our makerspace offered an alternative way to explore and learn some of the same skills. #bfc530
Shop was part of my wheel in middle school ... grades 6-8 ... shop/homeWc/art ... HS was a different story as MS was more exploratory a concept we have all but removed from school #bfc530
I was a shop kid ... took 4 years of shop ... school actually had to create a “Design Woodworking” class for me and others like me to fulfill our “Art” requirement for graduation. I also room 2 years (6 credits) of electricity (residential and industrial) in HS #BFC530
You all fit this #BFC530!! I can appreciate the common core push. It’s made us Ts re-evaluate how we teach whether we agreed or disagreed with the movement. @edcampstl and the un-conference movement!!! @LearningSTL and free PD!

We cannot be discouraged by policy makers who measure effectiveness by data points, rather we must hold to the belief that relationships with students are the true measure of our life’s work. #RelationshipsB4Tasks#bfc530
Dennis, in my opinion, it's about the process more than the product. Students can learn through the design process the same regardless of the material you are working with. My kids are just as proud of their work out of cardboard as they are about wood. #bfc530
