Feeling accomplished but a bit achy after a weekend of yardwork!
Life is Good.....
Good morning everyone! Happy Tuesday!
Good Morning . Our dist has late start day with planned Wellness activities for Ts. Great way to start the week!
Hi Emmanuel... Tan, rested, and ready?
so very good to see you Nat!! How you been ?
Good Morning crew. Just woke up from a strong dream about being a teacher in the 1920's. Awesome!
Really?! That is fabulous! Like what?
none of those things but im here.
Good mornin', friends!
Hope you're all doing well!
well kathy... everyday is a holiday when you're retired...
Good morning friends! I hope everyone enjoyed a fantastic long weekend! David MS Principal from VA here.
That's what matters...YOU ->
I really like this question. Well done today.
I love how "retired" you are! You have a new job of being our !
Today's topic: How do you like being shown appreciation from colleagues, admin, and students? - https://t.co/ko15z6lHQl
trail walk, yoga, hiking, coloring for adults, photography, writing class, healthy meal prep, etc...
Oh - you can't beat that! What are you gonna do for your wellness activity?
doing well and thrilled to be back with this amazing group! Too long indeed!
Hi Carl from Avonsleigh Australia
Waiting for my daughter to finish studying at school st 7:30pm
doing really well Eric! How about you?
Just a few short weeks 'til - can't wait to meet up you, & all my other tweeps!
That is just amazing! What a great way to start a day!
Good morning .
Brian, HS principal from Mass.
question this am - "How do you like being shown appreciation from colleagues, admin, and students?" via
This has actually been a topic of discussion at my school
Sounds like a blog post waiting to happen!
excellent winding down but holding up !!!
I'm doing "Coffee and Trails" a 1-hr trail walk through a forest refuge in NNJ
really good just so darn hot !
Hi all! Need to recover from a great weekend! (I'm in summer mode - need to snap out of it and get back to reality for a few weeks!)
For me the best appreciation is when someone tells my boses they are happy
trying to find some balance and moving into our new house. It's taken a while, but I'm getting there.
It has to be real. If appreciation is forced or fake or contrived it isn't worth it. I'd rather a real hug than a faked medal.
Honestly, just a sincere 'thank you' can last me weeks.
Best kind of appreciation...a simple thank you...equally important for me...remembering to thank Ss, parents, colleagues.
Boy! Seems like a class reunion going on this morning! Feels like we haven't seen each other in a long while :)
with good tunes, anything is possible!
Good morning from my friends.
There's knitting, tabata, biking, learn an instrument, meditation, basketball, origami, games, caligraphy
I was thinking the exact same thing Karl!
Love this PLN!!

Boy! Seems like a class reunion going on this morning! Feels like we haven't seen each other in a long while :)
so very true ! def a Beach Boy holiday weekend
Agreed. Stuff is stuff, appreciation that's sincere makes all the difference
I'm old school on this: for me, nothing beats a handwritten thank you note to show gratitude.
I agree! Happy to be back among friends!
Was up in NY for a chunk of the weekend. Wasn't any warmer in the mountains either.
I cannot love this tweet any more! <3 <3 <3
Good morning! No better appreciation than seeing something I use in my classroom in use somewhere else!
yea Mets didn't do well Vs. Dodgers but the Dark Knight is back ! #

My Teacher Appreciation page https://t.co/PxdihLmXRQ A kind word or pat on the back in appreciation goes a long way.
I think simply acknowledging the work that was done.
Truth...but ill never say no to some extra supplies.
hi Ryan! Great to see you!
Good morning!!! Ylonka from Dominican Republic, woke up with lightning and thunderstorms
We Instructional Coaches like to get "Thank You!" and smiles from the Ts we partner with, Ss we work with, and the Admin we support
yes collaboration is so vital ans appreciated
Hi Natalie! Yep its been awhile! Hope all is well.
it's a great district, focused on our wellness, health, and stress as well as the same for Ss.
Good morning . Stacey from NJ. Enjoying 1 more day off. Meeting my team later to have an adventure in an escape room.
The best way for Ps Ts and Ss to show appreciation is to TRUST, and hopefully that trust I have earned
I'm in the process of writing out cards to each of my new teachers for the last day. Hand written notes are great.
I once had a admin team that covered all classes for a day. that was a great way of showing they were part of the team.
don't have to :) Find a way to start the same in your dist!
I like this idea. Can you give examples of wellness activities?
I enjoy when a fellow Ts tells me students are talking about my class ( in a positive way !!) 0
If there's a page Jerry *DOESN'T* have, it'll be the 1st I discover! What an incredible source of ideas!

My Teacher Appreciation page https://t.co/PxdihLmXRQ A kind word or pat on the back in appreciation goes a long way.
A simple "Thank you" works for me. I don't think it ever gets said enough.
A simple thank you or some kind words of appreciation is great from time to time.
Starbucks cards are nice, but the most meaningful thing is when someone tells me specifically _how_ I helped them.
Couldn't have said this any better! https://t.co/KUvx2Owksr
We Instructional Coaches like to get "Thank You!" and smiles from the Ts we partner with, Ss we work with, and the Admin we support
A warm feeling always overcomes me when 1 of our T's finds value in& implements, learning from an instructional coaching interaction
Hi!!!!! No better way to wake up than to see friends I appreciate like you and the crew!
This won't shock you, but I kick out of Ss when they draw me Peanuts characters or the Phillie Phanatic;)
Good Morning, so happy to see everyone this morning
For me, I appreciate when admin or colleagues acknowledge my job and say thank you, I try to do the same with others
. Agree. Best thx is seeing/hearing that something I've shared or helped w/ has worked & Ts or Ss are using it.
From Ss & Ps - a note/letter w/heartfelt message is wonderful...& of course a simple 'thank you' means quite a bit too!

Good morning everyone! Division Level Instructional Coach from Fairfax, Va! Fingers crossed this chat continues in the summer!
Just seeing things run smoothly is great, but receiving a thank you puts me over the 🌙 moon!
For me, I like being shown appreciation through words of affirmation and positivity. Be a positive and encouraging factor in my life
Gratitude is best understood and most appreciated in the context of meaningful, trusting relationships built all year long.
Jen and Sean are going to be there, too?
Warms the heart.....

I enjoy when a fellow Ts tells me students are talking about my class ( in a positive way !!) 0
Hey sunshine! How are you?!? Miss you so much!
A "nice job" goes a long way, would rather that than the obligatory once annual appreciation lunch. Not personal.
. Good day to all. Noon here but still chirping in to say hello.
Delivering flowers from our garden today, heading out to cut them shortly :)
We have very few subs in our district. As an admin, I try to cover classes rather than pull Ts from prep periods.
I'm about to have the longest 4 day week ever. Wish me luck. I gotta go shower and get ready.
Yes Ellen - they're presenting!!
...and sometimes this doesn't come until the end of the year when Ts have seen the hard work pay off!
Enjoy today. I'm heading out to western Mass. with the senior class for our annual trip to Six Flags New England!
I like when someone pops in before the 1st bell or during my prep and says, "That was pretty cool when you..." That's enough for me.
Absolutely. Thanks for sharing
You will be right by me! :) https://t.co/APsxZLdi3w
Enjoy today. I'm heading out to western Mass. with the senior class for our annual trip to Six Flags New England!
Ts must love this. Brain whirring here, as I try to figure out how to implement something like this
Could not have said it better myself!
Are you kidding me? I need to put that on my calendar!!!!
A little thing, a big impact, a memory made ->
things are moving right along! How was/is your year?
and that's okay! It's actually been happening A LOT today funny enough.
Keep ur head up Manny! Friday will b here before u know it!
From admin- come around, see what we do & let us know that we did a good job. Tell us when you hear something nice about us! 👍
Cozy, I don't feel like leaving the house!
the ultimate compliment -->
absolutely! We are presenting together.
exactly! It's more than okay - it's perfect! It means we have had an impact
Sometimes just a small note left on amy desk, in my mailbox, fills my bucket for the week!
I love getting handwritten letters. I save them and reread them after having a bad day.
Good mentor provided me w "code blue" pocket folder to house all cards, notes, kind words to revisit on a "blue" day.
The personal touch... classy!
Fully agree Stacey! https://t.co/QhLw0YtQ5l
Couldn't have said this any better! https://t.co/KUvx2Owksr
We Instructional Coaches like to get "Thank You!" and smiles from the Ts we partner with, Ss we work with, and the Admin we support
i like when an admin. asks about my class, how's it going? What do I need? etc Makes time.. https://t.co/dv18N7zdGR
From admin- come around, see what we do & let us know that we did a good job. Tell us when you hear something nice about us! 👍
me neither, but duty calls
doing well! Excited to be with you guys today! Let's get something on the books for this summer!
Wow! What a great way to show .

Good Morning . Our dist has late start day with planned Wellness activities for Ts. Great way to start the week!
Fantastic. We finish nxt Thurs, fly to US Fri. About to have my grades all wrapped up & ready for nxt yrs challenge
you're right "nice job" does go a long way. Just acknowledging the effort makes w difference.
Escape rooms are the best. We're trying to create one at school for Ss & then let them create...
awesome!!! Are you going to be on the east coast?
I love when Ts & Ss say thank you WAY after the year is over. It's like they've had a chance to reflect & realize they appreciate me
watch will hit back with a "page about nothing". Lol. He curates like a boss.
From Ss a "This was fun/cool/interesting." That to me is high praise. From anyone else, a simple word of thanks is enough.
When we (communities) share stories about great learning opportunities that have happened during the year...that's gratitude!
I'm presenting with both :)
I also love the gift a time! When teacher work days become work from home days 🎉🎉
NC, FL, AL Starting out in Asheville. One of my favorite places! Wish I could make to see you guys
Beautiful sign of gratitude! 😊
Indeed! It's about creating positive memories and experiences all around.
Ts love a hand written note after I do a walk through, & I love it when Ts & Ss leave a note on my door or my desk.
Great point - we're all in it to help our Ss. When they point out how we've helped them - that's icing on the cake
I still have notes from my first year of teaching for exactly this reason. https://t.co/RapSw1VXpq
I love getting handwritten letters. I save them and reread them after having a bad day.
Hi Kimberly! How was ur weekend?
Who watched Roots last night?
Occurs to me that students who saw it will present with some questions and/or feelings today.
Such a simple, but greatly appreciated, gift!
I have my go-to file that I read, esp when having a difficult parent interaction. It helps!
When colleagues ask questions and show an interest in our work, that is a great compliment.
. Got to love when you hear them talk about it later on their own. That's some of the best thx too!
I agree! Thank you notes are the best! I save them and hang them up to encourage me
I started doing it my first year. Love knowing a little beauty from my home will be going into the homes of others.
I have a student who leaves her fave books on my desk for me to read. I love that!
Ts in my school received hand written acknowledgments/thank you's during T Apprec. week. That was pretty awesome, it felt genuine.
Me too! https://t.co/KRxYGlMvxM
I enjoy when a fellow Ts tells me students are talking about my class ( in a positive way !!) 0
I am working on a blog post with a similar theme!

I love small trinkets that show some thought...pack of pens, HP stationery, a note pad, bag of my fav candy. https://t.co/mED2hmWJQQ
have to go, traffic it's not good when raining, I appreciate all of you for sharing, feels like a true community, have a great week
It's what keeps me going!
Yes, nice to see that your work is meaningful...
hey! Enough is enough! When are we getting together?!? :) How was the year?!?
Sometimes, doing what we do is appreciation enough...
Rashida dropped the mike Boom! https://t.co/MxcNBD9DUZ
I love when Ts & Ss say thank you WAY after the year is over. It's like they've had a chance to reflect & realize they appreciate me
Didn't/Haven't watched (don't have cable) but heard nothing but great things about it!
OMG! Cracking up! "Like Shawshank" HA!
wow! I love this! What does she like to read?
Often amazing how simple gestures can change one's day for the better! 😊
Yes! It makes me feel amazing! Just the fact they took time 2 advocate for me and give praises to higher up
I missed it, but will try to catch it on demand. Was it great? https://t.co/WwrekJNPCv
Who watched Roots last night?
Occurs to me that students who saw it will present with some questions and/or feelings today.
This sounds amazing - great way to show T's you value them!
It's good to be back with friends! Thanks everyone! Have a great day!
What a thoughtful gift for a staff!
Everything - dystopian novels, detective novels, books like Wonder. Loves to discuss them later
Got to go friends. Good to see you all. Enjoy the day.
that is awesome! What kind of flowers?
Trying to teach this skill to Ss by modeling it - gratitude is something they have to learn young
I look forward to reading it...stories help build community! 😊
. I thank for this idea & look forward to spending time w
I also love it when alumni return to visit because they miss us, & want to say thank you. Warms my heart
It was intense, like orig. Beautiful in many ways. Haunting. Just *terrible* with terror.
mainly peonies and irises, a few poppies :)
that makes my heart full! Congratulations on creating such a meaningful connection with that student!
Warriors NEW SHOW Cavs Cold Water Lil Kush - Wake Up
Off to the pool. Thank you family for sharing today!
Impt. validation: When Ss report I grew, I used ed., I make a difference in the community, I want to give back.
That 'beauty' radiates right from you! 😊😊😊
the kids always bring me Superman trinkets because of my love of Henry Cavill!
Heading out-Hope everyone enjoys their short week.
Feel inspired after today's chat-plan on leaving appreciation notes 2day!
Greatly affecting.
See on replay for sure.
Thx for a great way to start my day I appreciate all you do for Ts & Ss! Time to cut some flowers and get ready for FIELD DAY!
I know! Well I survived my first year here. 😁 When is your last day? https://t.co/5bZnaodspr
hey! Enough is enough! When are we getting together?!? :) How was the year?!?
you are simply too much, Chris! Thank you for that
gorgeous! Post a picture. I would love to see them. Peonies are my favorite!
Gm ! Josh lead learner from NJ. Running a bit late b/c I am off 2day. Unused snow day do come in handy! https://t.co/OwUp3U51pP
Wishing everyone a tremendously terrific Tuesday, my friends! Peace!
Ss are finished Thursday, I'm officially done next Wed. Cat wait to hear all about it! https://t.co/cNCZ7IVjvN

hey! Enough is enough! When are we getting together?!? :) How was the year?!?
I have a whole stack of pictures and cards my kiddos made me! Just warms my heart when I look at them ❤️❤️❤️
Damn - that would be fun! I will be loving life in Michigan - but thinking of everyone in the crew
Seeing our Ts working together during our weekly PD makes everything worth it. They're an incredible team!
I've also had students come back years later & apologize for their behavior in my class. One became an admin.
From my colleagues, I just like for them to seriously consider things I bring to them to consider.
I got a FB post from a student now in 12th gr saying she killed an assignment @ mitosis bc I made them write a song in 6th gr.
And how easy can it be to give a simple smile. https://t.co/hN8r4cgRd1
Often amazing how simple gestures can change one's day for the better! 😊
My best thank you is when Ss or Ts want to show me their work. Being asked to read a story or watch a lesson.
I've read it and passed it on to kids who love romance. They're enjoying it! Will order sequel
I love when those who complained all the time return, now appreciating the time spent with them!
thanks, Rashida! Sometimes the best gifts in life are free! :)
Yes, that happens a lot. "I couldn't wait to get out of school & now I miss it!"
It's also great when parents tell me specifically what their kids have learned in my class bc they share when they get home.
Last thing, I like specific feedback. It's great when admin says HOW I've made an impact, shift Ts mindset, helped Ss achieve
One year for my Ts I had a masseuse come in and give chair massages to the staff during the day.
From my admin, I just like for them to consider Innovative ideas & programs I bring to them. Also stop looking 2 blame 4 everything
I have a drawer where I save the most heartfelt notes. Best gifts ever
Okay, off to show appreciation to my Ts and Ss. Thanks for all the inspiration !!
From my Ts, I appreciate it when they fully back my decisions even they are not sure b/c I have never steered them in the wrong way
From Ss, I appreciate when they fully take advantage of everything the school has 2 offer. Proves they value everything set 4 them
I love that thought and I have never considered what a wonderful sign of appreciation https://t.co/bjjjtdFz1V
From my Ts, I appreciate it when they fully back my decisions even they are not sure b/c I have never steered them in the wrong way
None of us is as smart as all of us. But being smart together can be quite difficult. Read why -> https://t.co/uB5xiRFLs6
Have to keep watch in the halls b/c some of my kids like to run up and hug from behind. It's a good problem.
for some of our babies, we're the only source of consistent kindness
I love it when some of my "frequent office visitors" start quoting me back to me. They really are listening!!
Have fun! https://t.co/JqLKRnMsjW
Thx for a great way to start my day I appreciate all you do for Ts & Ss! Time to cut some flowers and get ready for FIELD DAY!
My Principal handed these out before ... not seeing it lately ... a "coaching form" now ... i like the drop
Good morning CST chatters. Steve from NJ checking in from the porch with my for a brief dose of sanity and inspiration
I believe strongly in acknowledging the great things people are doing and really appreciate the acknowledgement as well
Good morning! Happy to see you hear! I am still in denial that our school is over
Recently I was invited by our superintendent to share about my program and awards in had received. I felt and
Good morning CST edition!
I want authentic acknowledgement ... not just shouting out some one because you have to have one at monthly meeting
And nothing beats when a student congratulates you for something :)
Good morning! Happy to see you here! Still in denial that our school year is over.
You DESERVE to be honored and recognized
https://t.co/8XxclMAokK

Couldn't agree more. https://t.co/DXxal2WczM
I want authentic acknowledgement ... not just shouting out some one because you have to have one at monthly meeting
Random notes of kindness are highly appreciated
Public Display of Acknowledgement (PDA) is something that makes me uncomfortable ... prefer the private "You're doing a good job"
I'm also a big fan of food. :) A little cookie or a coffee
are you out of school already?
thanks buddy. You know I'm a member of the :) - can't wait for to meet you at
I think that's the key word-acknowledgement. Doesn't matter how just that you do.
And I can't wait to meet her too! https://t.co/TcOWnVvfWP
thanks buddy. You know I'm a member of the :) - can't wait for to meet you at
Somehow this reminds me of discussions of extrinsic vs intrinsic motivation
nope. 3 weeks left! You? . I think we are due for another rosy visit!
Have a great day folks. Time to rustle the kids out of the house and go play, I mean work (no, I mean play)
I also think the appreciation should be personal. I get the public part, which is nice, but not at expense of not telling the indiv
Personally, notes are my favorite. The written word.
Administration needs to know how to motivate each ... i like the drop in the bucket notes, but loathe the coaching form.
Now that's enough to rock anybody's world! WOW!!! Gratitude at its best! 😊😊😊
The best way colleagues can show their appreciation is to ask me for help again
I'm a fan of a note in my mailbox, or as students sometimes leave them on my dry-erase board. https://t.co/tlP9CCXTXj
To kick off Teacher Appreciation Wk, my NJHS kids stayed after school on Friday & left positive notes on every Ts board.
Yes feels very selfish but too many are prepared to complain up the line so i like a bit of good going that way
We have a 'secret buddy' system at work you can join. My SB treats me really well - makes you feel good :) https://t.co/8u5ZdPkb6H
Today's chat: How do you like being shown appreciation from colleagues, admin, and students? - https://t.co/vGjgJYFzMw
Twitter has been a great source of acknowledgement. Love my
Good morning MT chatters. Steve from NJ checking in. even though it's Tuesday
Yes it has helped give me lot of confidence and there are people I can talk to about things I would not discuss at school
Interesting that today's preferred forms of apprec are notes, words.. not awards, few physical obj., parking space, etc.
How is NJ this morning Steve. It was 1C when I got up and getting very cold tonight.
for sure! Definitely helped me find my people
Great point! Twitter & Voxer have been great sources of affirmation.. largely from "strangers"
I think as I have got older the words are more important than the things
pretty warm here in NJ but we do have that opposite season thing
This sounds wrong but I really appreciate when someone tells my bosses they are happy with me.
I try and do for others in business
they don't stay strangers for long :)
Yes the opposite season thing...
It's teh long days I miss... dark at 5:30 now
Hi, gang. Just finished City on Fire novel. In it, there's a line about a Zulu greeting meaning "I see you." Being noticed is nice.
Refer to many of my voxer & twitter connections as friends; if people ask, are often surprised I've met very few of them
I also appreciate when admin follows through on things promised. Proves to be more than just lip service.
The 900+ page City on Fire? How was it?
Hey friends. Think this fits w/ our convo today. We need to make sure we're doing what we ask of others https://t.co/adDAYbZ6P9
It isn't the failure of others to appreciate your abilities that should trouble you, but rather your failure to appreciate theirs. Confucius
Response to the Zulu greeting is "I am here." Being noticed fights existential angst w/difference-making that matters to someone.
I like it Ryan https://t.co/2OUJGXErfH

I was going to top you on that but 7C here in Avonsleigh. there was ice on teh car this morning
Ice beats rain, you win! It needs to be fine for the State of Origin rugby league match tomorrow night!
Absolutely correct; pleased to see some friends share ways they were showing appreciation today.
Besides far-flung PLN benefits, Twitter stokes appreciation for global weather's vagaries :)
and an understanding that while some are in teh middle of teh school year, others are finishing
For sure! There's a real appeal in having an international PLN
Empowerment vs. Entitlement - some students walk a fine line with this - what role can/should teachers play?
Last snow day of the year! Get ready, June, here we come!
love these snow days. No shoveling! Enjoy!
Well so far WA is the winner! At least it's not raining in WA!
Today on - How do you like being shown appreciation from colleagues, admin, and students? - https://t.co/52KT5h9R9z
Hey west coast ! Joining from CO today.
Handwritten notes are my favorite form of appreciation. Notes are more personal! OK, ok, a Starbucks card makes me giddy, too. :)
Good morning! Not as many here for PDT chat today. How do you like others to show you that you're appreciated?
Hi! Laurel. Bermuda. Usually on EDT. But here showing my team how to tweet chat. Glad a few showed up😊
Just started City on Fire with book club. I'm the only one left reading it. Boo hoo!
Good morning! Some great ideas shared; plan to create a storify for today.
Hey everyone, Leone, Mentor teacher new to
That would definitely be special! Every thing is an email these days https://t.co/b4xM2Hp437
Handwritten notes are my favorite form of appreciation. Notes are more personal! OK, ok, a Starbucks card makes me giddy, too. :)
Mere acknowledgement. Admin saying thank you.
I love most those special notes from students. I have a rainbow a student gave me 14 years ago! 😀
Awesome! I'd love to show my team a storify.
Look at what this district is doing to show appreciation for their Ts. https://t.co/bD5z7sdGC7
Good Morning . Our dist has late start day with planned Wellness activities for Ts. Great way to start the week!
Big question is... How important is showing appreciation for teacher morale?
A Starbucks card would be a mad bonus
I don't need bells and whistles. But a simple thank you/acknowledgement is great
SO important. If I don't feel appreciated and recognized, I'm low. Same idea goes into my classroom.
There are about 500 tweets with since 530 EDT. Will edit out duplicates & a little spam & post momentarily.
VeryTrue! Appreciation is key in roles where we give from personal strength and emotion at all times. It refills the cup.
Big part. And can be done in small ways. But to completely ignore/look past is death to school culture https://t.co/d9VywVQGle
Big question is... How important is showing appreciation for teacher morale?
enjoy! Great meeting you!
