#NVedchat is dedicated to increasing communication and collaboration of education related topics in the State of Nevada. Originally, created by Mr. Snehal Bhakta.
Snehal from NV @CTEinCCSD and my first computer we had at home was a #Commodore64.
It was a powerhouse with 8-bit processing and took like 20 minutes to load. #NVedchat
Hi I’m Kevin from Indianapolis, IN. My first computer I used was a Radio Shack TRS-80. I did a little bit of BASIC computer programming on DOS. Yes, I am old. #nvedchat
My parents had a desktop that we took turns on playing Oregon Trail and the Windows puzzle game. I can still remember the AOL sign on noises! #nvedchat
Hi! S.D. Johnston from Las Vegas. I have no idea what brand it was but I had a keyboard that plugged into the tv and had basic games and programs. #NVedchat
Hello #NVedchat, Tika a second-grade teacher and teacher mentor from Las Vegas, NV. My first computer was an IBM desktop, I think (circa 1989). I remember when my dad brought it home. I also remember the Brother typewriter I brought to college.
Steve in NW Indiana (Chicago-ish). We had a Commodore 64 at home. Like @LCHS_Bio, played around with BASIC on that machine and the terminals at @HighlandHighHHS. #nvedchat
A1-I try to mark spam every chance I get. Email is getting smarter and now it auto marks everytime I win the lottery!
If I ever to win, then I'm out of luck....oh well! :-)
#NVedchat
I drop the use of an address that get spammed. Now I use it only for things I know will result in spam so it stays out of my regular use email. I unsubscribe a lot too. #NVedchat
A2-I try to make sure to put things on my calender. I'm still a mix of electronic and old school. I need to try to do a better job of putting everything in it though!#NVedchat
R2: use one where we all can share. My wife usually is the contributor to the calendar and is definitely the manager of it. Anything added shows up on my calendar. #nvedchat
A2-I use layers in #GCal ... appointments, family, friends, and a FUN EVENTS calendar layer. Really! I do!
Helps to keep my work calendar work, and my other calendars organized. #NVedchat

My calendar app color codes based on calendar type. That makes it easy. I also don’t schedule a lot after 5 pm for family time (he says during a Twitter chat). #NVedchat
A2. I schedule me time. So it’s on the calendar. My husband is working on me scheduling transition times. 15 minutes if no movement 30 if a move of location #nvedchat
I shared my work gmail calendar with the "busy" setting on so that I know when I have work obligations outside school hours, but I can't check my email, etc. if I'm not on a computer. Balance is a goal for me this year! #nvedchat
R2: Not so much a "tech tip" as a life management tip: anything I don't want to forget I write down or put in my calendar RIGHTNOW. Anything I put off for later is likely to end up on the Pay No Mind list. #nvedchat
A3: https://t.co/8uD2IQHYIp, click on google tools, filter search for last 24 hours, last week, last month, last year or anytime. Love this feature. #NVedchat
A3 I like the Hover Zoom extension for Chrome so I don't have to open a new tab/click on a link to look at a picture. It's helpful at school, too #nvedchat
A3 love that you can search emails so easy in #gmail Searching online? @unsplash good for photos, Firefox Browser, Google to search, & when I’m planning but don’t really have time I start a Pinterest page & just drop things in a title to search later #NVedchat
A3-I really like having symbaloo. It's a quick way to get to important links without having to put them in my bookmarks. I also like that I can put an image related to where I'm going (visuals help!) #NVedchat
A3: I set up user profiles in Chrome to keep my work browsing separate from personal browsing. Incognito is a really useful feature if you don't want to worry about browser security on school computers. #NVedchat
A3-I sync my bookmarks across my web browsers and have a folder for personal ones. So I I find a site on my phone, it gets added so I can access on my iPad or computer. #NVedchat

A4-On my Samsung phone, I use the app #twilightapp to dim my screen so I go to sleep sooner and don't stimulate my eyes, and the @LastPass app to help me remember all the passwords. #NVedchat
A4: Anytime we have an earthquake,(or significant event) I go directly to @Twitter I get information super fast this way! Especially when you check trending #'s #NVedchat
R4: I run hot & cold on it, but got turned on to Evernote a few years ago. Awesome for saving and categorizing stuff regardless of whether I was on phone, pad, work machine or personal device. #nvedchat
Wash your hands after using the bathroom before you handle the phone? I use the finger print thing a lot and keep my CC numbers out of the phone just in case. #NVEdchat
Hey #nvedchat, awesome chat tonight. Picked up some usable tips for outside of school (who knew?). Great to reconnect with you all for the new school year. See you next Monday & have a great week!
Started my daughter with this coding book this summer, not as intimidating as the DOS I remember & I would recommend for little ones. Thanks for the tips everyone! #girlswhocode#nvedchat
A4 Use my phone for keeping “up to date” on twitter but working to limit email to my computer. It gets overwhelming to always be checking email on my phone #NVEdChat
