A1: The way we lead ourselves determines how effective we will be when we lead others. Our ability to lead ourselves is the foundation of what it takes to lead others...if the foundation is broken, then problems will be appear.
#HISDAdminChat
A1 The way we lead ourselves will determine our achievement of our own personal and professional goals and how well we use these achievements to positively affect others #HISDAdminChat
A1: The way we lead ourselves, determines how effective we will be in leading others. A wise person once said how you parent is how you lead. You’re the same person no matter who you’re responsible for. The nurture & care you show at home will permeate your team. #HISDAdminChat
A2: It’s key to have a personal mission because it will ground you when your vision is unclear. If you have personal convictions that govern your life, your vision will be focused and intentional. #HISDAdminChat
A2: Loaded question! I can’t see one without the other. Your personal mission should be encompassed in your personal vision, right? Can’t have one w/o the other. #HISDAdminChat
A2 Having a personal mission and/or vision provides a compass for how we conduct ourselves daily. If we are disciplined in enacting the mission/vision, it increases our personal and professional efficacy #HISDAdminChat
I believe having a vision that is motivated by a personal mission is the winning combo. We can have a great vision, but without a backbone of passion for student learning, for example, it all falls apart. Concrete. Specific. Realistic. #hisdadminchat
A2: That's a good question. I say vision, because the mission can change as needs change. But the vision as an ultimate goal shouldn't change (if it's an appropriate one). #hisdadminchat
A2) I suppose I see vision as needed more as, in my mind, that implies the collective. And as a leader that must be at the front. My personal mission should be adaptive to the vision I have for the work/team/organization. #HISDAdminChat
A1: Like our students, families and community see what I DO, not what I SAY. If I am not “walking the walk,” all others hear is blah...blah...blah. #HISDAdminChat
A2: It is important to have both. A personal mission allows us to be selfish with our goals and grind. Creating a vision is building a plan that all parties will buy into and benefit from. Great leaders know how to implement both effectively. #HISDAdminChat
Yes, it may need to. If mission is what I commit to fix then how I do it or how I "get there" must be flexible. Continuing to learn about a challenge or obstacle will undoubtedly push me to new thought. #HISDAdminChat
A3: So goes the campus! Campus leadership growth is IMPERATIVE to campus growth. You must constantly be willing to grow and adapt for the ever changing world that we live in and have to educate Ss for!#HISDAdminChat
A3: Can't even conceive this because I truly believe in #lifelonglearning and we must continually grow and learn and be the model for staff and Ss. Always room for growth #HISDAdminChat
A love of learning is the name of the game. Similar to Q1: We want students to witness our value of learning and emulate that in their own life and learning. A campus would be reaaaaaaally boring without professional growth. #hisdadminchat
If I stop growing as a professional then my school can only wither and lose its way. I do not believe that if my learning is only school-based will that be the best for my students. I must grow in all ways. #HISDAdminChat
A3) Well what fun would that be? If I stop growing or learning then it's time to head to the house. Someone better give me jolt though before that. I'm sure I can count on #HISDAdminChat to assist. 😉✌️🤓
Agreed Kathryn. In today's world we would be moving backwards quickly. Boring is also such a great reflection. I think it's how sts feel when the learning stays the same too! #HISDAdminChat
Hello All!
A3. I think the short answer is that the campus stops growing. Specifically, I think of us as a model. As we find time to balance Professional Development with the daily grind, those working alongside of us see and know that it is possible. Model it
#HISDAdminChat
A3: When you stop growing as a professional, you are intentionally harming your campus. No professional growth limits the growth of children and development of teachers. I’m addicted to growth because I fear being complacent and mediocre. #HISDAdminChat
How we lead ourselves, determines how effective we will be as a leader of others; a model of discipline, self-control, ethics and collaboration. #HISDAdminChat
