Michael from Bellaire. In termsof Podcasts, I listen to The Daily (M-F) for my news. Malcolm Gladwell had one called Revisionist History that was really intriguing. And I try to keep up with The Moth. #HISDAdminChat

Welcome Cicely! Be sure to include #HISDAdminChat in your tweets so we all see them. Check out Revisionist History by Malcolm Gladwell. Not school specific, but good stuff.
Good Evening everyone, Dr. Valencia Hall @btw_hsep & my favorite podcast to share is https://t.co/JzrjtsH75O…. This is great for those wanting to learn more about how STEM learning reaches across all career pathways & it is also an excellent podcast for students. #hisdadminchat
A1-I would have to say that they can be easy to make but hard to do. We see the choices that need to be done but we might have multiples challenges to go through to get them done. #HISDAdminChat
A1. OH this is hard. Maggy, I agree with your answer. Reality and time sometimes don't work out as hoped. And so we get a little bit better. #HISDAdminChat
A1: While there is NO right answer, Gladwell mentioned that our choices are often easy to judge but sometimes hard to understand - his commentary was about choices and mistakes in general, not school leader specific. #HISDAdminChat@Gladwell
As a school leader, choices are made every minute of every day. Challenges come when those decisions are not aligned to your common goal. #HISDAdminChat
A1- I would say: As a school leader, our choices are easy to brainstorm, but hard to make time for. Sometimesit feels like we have wonderful ideas but time moves so fast that the plan has to include daily normal campus interruptions. #HISDAdminChat
Both. We have to learn to work with “difficult” people and by working with “difficult” people we are in turn helping them to be less difficult through our support, expectations, etc. #HISDAdminChat
A2) I believe we need to effect difficult people in to being less difficult. We do this by not changing their mind, rather trying to influence their behavior. You shift what they do (how they act) and then the mind follows. #HISDAdminChat
Both. Nobody is perfect, everybody as areas of growth, therefore at certain point or another everyone can be “difficult”. It’s our job to constantly grow those we serve. #HISDAdminChat
A2. Our job is to meet people where they are at. Listen and stay calm. We never really know what is on the other side. Patience and respect #HISDAdminChat

A2: I believe that by learning how and being willing to deal with those difficult people, you will find yourself coming up with ways to change the mindset of those difficult people! #HISDAdminChat
A2: I'm not 100% on this one, but I know my school leader skill set needs to include accepting that some interactions are going to be difficult. #HISDAdminChat
A3: my mistakes likely show you what I value. I'm going to put my all into what matters most and sometimes that means things don't work out as planned. #HISDAdminChat
A2-We have to learn how to deal with difficult people, they will always be around. However, they never have to stay on the bus. They can easily go be difficult somewhere else once they see they can’t touch the positive environment we are trying to create #HISDAdminChat
A2: Both! We must know how to work with people and many times seek to understand them to better serve/coach/move them etc.. and usually getting people to become less difficult comes with the same #HISDAdminChat
A2- Hmmm, Good Question! People will be difficult as long as we allow them to be. Therefore, in order to get them to be less difficult, we have to make sure we are not being difficult as well. Communication is very important from both sides. #HISDAdminChat
My mistakes reveal that I’m human and I’m not exempt from making them. It also shows that by making them with the right intent, those mistakes can be corrected and supported by those I serve. #HISDAdminChat
I think if we focus on getting better each day (students, staff, ourselves) then some of the challenges won’t be so large when we face them. #HISDAdminchat
A3. Well pick a day and we could go through the list of mistakes...it's my hope that mistakes reveal that I am moving forward and trying new things. #HISDAdminChat
#HISDAdminChat if your schedule allows, jump into #BookCampPD that begins in three minutes. Tonight we are discussing "The Curious Classroom" What student wouldn't love to be in such an engaging class?
A3: oh boy... my mistakes! I have made several of them. What’s revealed about me is that I’m human and I allow feelings to dictate my action verse my mind! #Growing#HISDAdminChat
So #HISDAdminChat here is a list from my podcast stream. They focus on pedagogy, leadership, outside of the box thinking and learning. Just sharing in case someone wants something eento listen to. @texasbuckeye

Mistakes and challenges are a constant reminder that we are not perfect, we are a work-in-progress and we still have a lot to learn #HISDAdminChat#StayHumble#WeAreHuman
Great! It depends how we see and approach the mistakes, an opportunity for us to keep learning and growing and also an opportunity to keep teaching and leading others #HISDAdminChat
