Q1: Tell us of an instance where you have stepped `Out of the Box` with a New project?! If you have never stepped `Out of the Box`, why not?! #K12ArtChat
Hi, Laura from Plano, Tx I'm an Art Admin and I'm not sure if this an out of the box thing about me but I keep being told I'm a truth-teller #K12ArtChat
A1: This is my first year as an art teacher so every project is a new one for me. I’m learning a lot this year from my students. I did a multi media project with 1st grade. We drew fruits with oil pastels and made painted paper with watercolor. @NAEA@TXarted#tlap#K12ArtChat
A1:In this group, I feel like I'm inside the box when I say I'm always trying something new when it comes to teaching (& making, & listening... well everything). In many parts of my world, this is being 'outside the box' but w/ this #PLN, It's just how we roll! #k12ArtChat
What’s different and Out of the Box about me #k12artchat is that I haven’t always been an Art Teacher! From age 20- 25, I was a PGA Golf Professional in various clubs throughout the South and Midwest, before going Back to College at age 25, to ultimately become an Art Teacher!
Last year I was tasked to develop an art and innovation curriculum, I named Artovation. We incorporate tech, @RubeGoldberg , Large scale installations, circuits, robotics, and more! #K12ArtChat
A1 in order to have more meaningful conversations about artwork with students (and colleagues) I turned to using reading comprehension skills to explore Artworks. Worked better than I ever dreamed it would. #k12ArtChat
A1 began yr. in 2nd gr. with a project asking the ss to create a visual representation of “I am... I am not...” I wanted to begin by growing self awareness & building creative confidence. Many introspective creations. #k12ArtChat

A1- In 2018, I stepped out of the box, with these ideas; Clay Olympics, Cassette Tape Relief Sculpture, Phobia Drawings& Translucent Relief Sculpture #k12artchat all but the Translucent project we’re successful; BUT How would I have known Had I Not stepped out & taken that Risk?
Hi All! I haven't been on this chat in a while, but I'm Ashley and I just moved to Chicago! Something outside the box I am trying in my teaching right now is an art-integrated poetry unit using visual art, music, and drama. I'm a gen ed classroom teacher who <3s art #k12artchat
A2: On Fridays, my kindergarten and first grade students would create dramatic retells of a story we had read that week. Part of the project included presenting their presentation to their peers. #k12artchat
A1 I’m always ready to try something new. I want to show the students that there is no fear in art. Everyone can learn a new technique or just a project they never thought to do before. #k12ArtChat
A1: I wanted to connect to my African American population with more artists from their culture. One artist I found was Kehinde Wiley and it’s been a fav for 5 years now! We mix it up just to keep it fresh too! #k12ArtChat
A2 I've collaborated with grade level Rd to add science, math, literarure and social studios in my lessons to connect across the curriculum #K12ArtChat
A2 We've collaborated with the English department they read #SpoonRiverAnthologies and my students illustrated their written descriptions of the characters really cool to see them employ portrait techniques via literature #K12ArtChat

A2: so proud of the collaboration with our elementary curriculum team which includes @RoweInArt & @EvansArtHouse our curriculum pushes Ts to build creative thinkers and Ss to dig deep! #K12ArtChat#PISDcreatesArt

A2: I get on the grade levels curriculum and find some connections I can make in the art studio. I love it when a grade level teacher says her class said they knew some/all of the lesson because of what they learned in my class! We just go about it in a different way! #K12ArtChat
A2: Art is everything, it is so hard not to connect to history, literacy, science, etc every day! I try to make connections all the time. A glimpse at layers of soil with clay. Takes a second, deepen learning cross-curriculum! #K12ArtChat

A1 Out of box-Moving Masterpieces- Hummingbird Robotics, the world without art is eh gamification, 10,000 golfball tee mural, curiosity cabinets ( your own art museum), golden mean drones, banraku puppets - it would be a shorter list to ask when are you in the box. #k12ArtChat
A3- Design is a funny word. Some people think design means how it looks. But of course, if you dig deeper, it's really how it works- Steve Jobs. Ss redesign the boundaries of the states, altering/combining and then explain their reasoning #k12ArtChat

A5: The first thing that came to mind was when I would put out all the classroom art supplies (including the glitter!) on a table and let students create their own Christmas ornaments! The experience was creating a special gift for their parents/guardians. #k12artchat
