. We sure will! One of the minions is missing. Hoping for a lively conversation this evening.
We miss you,Scott. Are you getting fit?
Woke up with my left eye glued shut this morning. Seems to get me every year.
Hi there, Erica! Good Monday?
It was great- a real test of patience since we were trying to start NWEA without internet! LOL
How has your year started out?
It’s such a gorgeous evening…is our gang outside?
Q1:How do you use Interactive Notebooks(IN) in your classroom? If you don’t use them, how WOULD you?
es, we’re off to a great start. They are using and we did first call with class.
Hey ! Day one with students is in the books.
Hi Jerry, and thanks for always supporting with links to your awesome resources.
A1:Diving all in with this year. Dabbled last year. Got ideas from Pinterest and starting with baby steps.
Missing my group as I'm on vacation at the beach!!!! Have a great chat
A1: I started my Ss into an IN for English during the second half of last year. They liked it, but haven’t started yet this yr.
Enjoy the beach and your last days of vacation. Miss you.
Hey! So glad to “see” you!
the beach sounds so nice right now.
Congratulations and welcome to . How many Ss do you have this year?
just 34 students this year.
You seem like you’re already fit. I need a fitness boot camp.
Whoa! Again- good thing you are amazing! You can do it! Oddly, I have only 22. Can’t remember such a small class.
I can’t believe how big your class is. I gave 28 in one class and 27 in the other, but some go with ESL Ts.
Q2: What subjects lend themselves best to interactive notebooks (IN)? Why?
A1: I am really focusing on Math and Reading first, then Science…! But I am open to recommendations!
A2: I think INB can be used in any subject. Ss get to show what they are learning and learning should be happening in every class.
I do a form of one in social studies and will move to English next.
Q3: How do you use Interactive notebooks in your classroom? If you don’t use them, how WOULD you?
Very interesting! I would love to see examples!
I’ll try to remember to take some pictures.
Q4: Why is it (or is it really) important to set up a TOC (table of contents) in interactive notebooks?
Take some this week and share with us on , Erica.
A4: I think that if students learn to organize their notebooks, they can use it as a reference.
A4: For an INB to truly be useful to Ss throughout the year, yes, I believe a TOC is important so they can locate resources.
Yes, organizational skills are highly needed by so many of our Ss.
SO many great resources, Paula! Thank you!
Q5: What are the benefits of using interactive notebooks with your students?
Just call me the resource queen. LOL
A5: Interactive notebooks are a way to teach and reinforce strategies and information. Another way to solidify learning.
A5: Ss value their INB because they are personal and reflective.
Can’t wait to read up on that link!
We sure do miss you- and we might be a bit jealous!
Q6: Some teachers feel like too much time is wasted on making interactive notebooks cute. What are your thoughts on this?
missing you - starting back next Monday!!
Hope you’re eating some lobsters while in Cape Cod.
A6: Being attractive in organization and presentation will keep the kids interested!
A6: INB are not about cute, they are about learning. Hope that is most important to Ts and Ss who use them.
Q7: How do you deal with the mess that creating INB can cause? (glue, paper scraps)
A7: If expectations are set, kids do a great job of cleaning up after themselves!
A7: Great advice - Diary of a Not So Wimpy Teacher: Interactive Notebooks: Your Questions Answered https://t.co/KOYjNCYFsT
A7: Great advice - Diary of a Not So Wimpy Teacher: Interactive Notebooks: Your Questions Answered https://t.co/GUSDHyq4v7
A7: Before I begin any activity with my Ss they know what is expected for each step in the process esp. clean up.
They rise up to expectations!
We always have the cleanest room at the end of the day, even after parties.
going to have some just for you!!!
Can almost taste the lobster and feel the melted butter dribblling down my chin.
Q8: Are IN done daily? Are they graded?
A8: As needed with new strategies is the first thing that comes to mind…but..
Any advice for a beginner Interactive Notebook user?
Cutting out a bit early tonight. Time to put more drops in my eyes and they hurt right now. Go forth and be fabulous tweeps.
