Welcome to #3rdchat! We are so glad to have you here tonight! Take some time to introduce yourself and get ready for a quick, 30 minute chat about school leadership!
Hi all! Erin Joseph checking in from Ohio! Just started a new position and I adore my principal! Best I’ve worked with so far! She is loving with the kiddos, with high expectations! #3rdchat
Donna, 3rd grade teacher from Texas. I admire @bethhill2829 She is always so positive and goes out of her way to support others. Even those she has only met through Twitter! #3rdchat
Hey #3rdchat peeps! Glad to be back with you this week! I have so many edu-leaders that I look up to! @DHEPrincipal and @mccall_kelley and their passion for what’s best for kids, @SJNeill13 and her passion for education, kids, and the whole child... and many many more!
Hey #3rdchat friends! I'm Kelley and I'm a former kinder, 1st & 3rd grade teacher. I'm now a principal of a K-5 building near Kansas City. Thank you so much for allowing me to lead tonight's chat!
Drea Finley from KS and I look up to @KsCommissioner for his and @ksdehq 's vision for what school could look like to meet all the needs of students in KS. #3rdchat
A1: I am always looking to grow as an educator. Learning new things is important and plays a major role in my teaching philosophy! Modeling is the best way to get students to understand the importance, so it starts with us! #3rdchat
A1- As students change, so should teachers and their leaders. I never have the same classroom and no administrator ever has the same building 2 years in a row. Leaders should focus on the needs. Don't know them? Ask your team. :) #3rdchat
A1: You gotta be a part of the greater good....be a voice for students. Be a voice for always learning and growing. Be an example and continue to grow in your knowledge that help you help kids. #3rdchat
A1 The same things my students need - a growth mindset. I love to learn and try new things. Sharing the successes and failures is a great way to lead my students and colleagues. #3rdchat
A1: to be a strong edu-leader you need a tribe to support through those hard days... and to cheer you on through your successes. You need to not be afraid to make mistakes and help become Trail Blazers. You need to be a marigold for the staff in your building #3rdchat
Hi #3rdchat! I'm Tiffany a K-5 special ed T in Virginia. There are so many eduleaders I look up to! However, if I had to pick just one I would choose Nannette Clatterbuck, who was my college professor. Her passion for education and working with SWD has stayed w/ me for 12 years!

A2: I think you have to find the "hook" just like you do with kiddos. Find a project/area that they are passionate about and ask to learn from them. Then maybe they will do the same with you. #3rdchat
We are better together! We need each other to grow...to share success....to get help when we are feeling stuck. Hattie's research proves we are better together for students. #HattieNerd#3rdchat
A2: I am currently on a leadership team doing exactly this... peer observation is a large part of our goals for this school year. We want our students to work together, why don’t we continue that as adults? #3rdchat

A2 I find that people will open up when you listen to them. ask them to tell you about something that is working for them and then try it out. They may then be more likely to do the same. Observe, model, and share #3rdchat
A2 Collaboration is easiest to sell when a person gets to join in. Invite a coworker to join a multi class activity and let them see for them self. Once it’s obvious that the collaborative effort has benefits, they’d be likely to join in again and contribute. #3rdchat
We are a @TheLeaderinMe school, and I’m dying to get into other schools in the area and see what they are doing to teach the 7 habits. It’s a goal for the year to not only observe each other, but have a partnership with another school as well. #3rdchat

A3: sharing is a rough one for me. I had a shake in my confidence the past few years, so I struggle with sharing because of criticism. However, I can see that growing with my confidence. #3rdchat
A3: as an edu-leader, I feel I play the role of the “cheerleader” well. I love seeing my peers succeed and doing things that they don’t normally feel they are capable of... and cheering them on with notes or words of encouragement along the way. #3rdchat
A3 (contd.) I feel like I need to grow in the area of observation and allowing myself to make mistakes like I allow my peers. I am hard on my self all the time and always feel the need for improvement. I think allowing myself grace is something I need more of #3rdchat
I believe I could grow in all areas. Leadership isn't a title...it's a state of mind....it's knowing you need to always grow and learn in all the areas because things change. #3rdchat
A3- I struggle to find the time to really experience events side by side with the kiddos. I tend to monitor or observe more than be an active participant. I think I do a fairly good job of modeling my decision making and giving them opportunities to input/practice. #3rdchat
A2: Model it, talk about it and invite them to join in- as often as it takes! Eventually they will see the value. I am very fortunate that as a special education inclusion T I get to collaborate with my co-Ts all day everyday. #3rdchat
A3 Sharing can actually be my strength and area of growth. I love to share ideas. I want to be more open to sharing ideas and trying the ideas of others when collaborating. #3rdchat
I walked into a teammates room today and she was using something she saw me using the day before and loved it! The confidence is growing back quickly! #3rdchat
My goal for this year is to observe and share as much as possible. I took on a major challenge being an action team leader as a new staff member, but I’m hoping that the risk will hold me accountable! #3rdchat
A3: I think I have strength in experience. I often jump into the experiences w/ my ss. I think I need to grow in sharing, especially strategically to amplify the impact. #3rdchat
CtoA: This is my 1st year on Twitter (thxs again @iammrsnix) and I am learning SO much. I have challenged myself to take some of the amazing things I have learned and use/share them with my team. Sometimes it feels like I have fallen down the rabbit hole, but I <3 it #3rdchat
A3 - I think I can grow in all these areas. I do love to share. I am happiest working with my colleagues and PLN. Talking about teaching is fun for me. It is really selfish though - I am hoping they will share back! #3rdchat

I am taking on the role of special education liason and mentor this year. I am holding myself accountable to complete all paperwork on time and be a positive support system for my mentee. I am documenting my efforts and checking in often. #3rdchat
