Q1: Why is it important to provide enrichment opportunities beyond the 3Rs? #suptchat
  • KenWallace207 Jan 3 @ 8:02 PM EST
A1. Students (and all people) are always more than the just the 3R’s. Enrichment is a neuroscience concept. The more enriched students are, generally the better they do in all cognitive, social, emotional and LIFE areas. #SuptChat

  • dpalzet Jan 3 @ 8:03 PM EST
A1: In order to provide a well rounded and well informed public education we need to provide students arts, service, and enrichment opportunities. #SuptChat
  • mikelubelfeld - Moderator Jan 3 @ 8:03 PM EST
#suptchat A1 Student needs & interests go far beyond literacy and numeracy - schools must see the "whole child" as the purpose of education - students deserve changes to explore, experience & evaluate
  • EScottEngland Jan 3 @ 8:03 PM EST
A1: Ss have many talents and abilities, but sometimes we must help them find where they truly excel. Offering enrichment opportunities can help with this discovery. #suptchat
  • MCUSDSupe Jan 3 @ 8:03 PM EST
A1: Enrichment beyond the 3 Rs requires personalization . . and that is the name of the game as we look at the future of education #suptchat
  • pammoran Jan 3 @ 8:03 PM EST
Hi all - icebox here in Va but not close to what’s coming to my northern friends - but this at my 96 year old mother’s home in SC Low Country today #suptchat
  • GrantLichtman Jan 3 @ 8:03 PM EST
A1: The challenges our students are facing in the world today and the future require much more than use of 3 R's content and skills. #suptchat
  • nc12super Jan 3 @ 8:04 PM EST
A1. You never know where a child’s talent lies. We must provide many opportunities to find that talent. #suptchat
  • DominicManola Jan 3 @ 8:04 PM EST
A1: We must provide enrichment beyond the 3 R's because students don't come to school with the same skills, abilities and passions. It's our job to ensure that we provide opportunities for our S's in as many diverse areas as possible, ie. academic, co-curr, CTE, etc. #suptchat
  • MCUSDSupe Jan 3 @ 8:04 PM EST
College and career ready is not a simple recipe. We should not pretend that one-size fits all works anymore (or that it ever truly did). #suptchat
  • coach57 Jan 3 @ 8:04 PM EST
A1) 1/2 the Jobs today’s students will hold don’t even exist. The ability to be creative and innovative just as important as 3 Rs #suptchat
  • kdruben Jan 3 @ 8:04 PM EST
A1: Student interests and strengths don't necessarily fall neatly into three boxes of the 3Rs. Schools have to help students to explore and develop other areas. #suptchat
  • john_mark2015 Jan 3 @ 8:04 PM EST
A1: Allows students an opportunity to see the relevance of the 3rs moving forward. #suptchat

    In reply to @GrantLichtman
  • maryhavis Jan 3 @ 8:05 PM EST
A1: Enrichment opportunities allow students to be engaged in their school beyond the classroom. To be successful in the future, students need the 3Rs along with innovation, creativity, and much more #suptchat
  • Erik_Youngman Jan 3 @ 8:06 PM EST
A1 Learning opportunities should offer opportunities to be actively engaged in a variety of educational and enrichment activities that empower students to #reflect, #collaborate, #innovate and #learn from #mistakes. #SuptChat
  • pammoran Jan 3 @ 8:06 PM EST
Enriched learning should be prerequisite 2 3Rs + 4Cs +P-based = equity of opportunity and access to high octane curricula and active pedagogy 4 all #suptchat

  • D33Supt Jan 3 @ 8:07 PM EST
Q1 - I think of it like a color wheel and look to learning opportunities that are "across the wheel" from what we currently offer. In this way, there is a balance for different types of Ss and to allow individual students a means to experiment or stretch. #suptchat

  • DominicManola Jan 3 @ 8:07 PM EST
Absolutely! Really, there aren't any neat and clean boxes. It's one size fits one, and we have to be willing to provide opportunities and pathways for any and all students. Love that technology only makes this more and more attainable. #suptchat
