Hey you... yes YOU! 👋 What are you doing right now? Joining #dojochat? Good 😉 We can't wait to Tech Talk with you and our host @arenaABC and it starts... NOW 🎉
Hi everyone! I'm a preservice teacher studying at University of Montana Western. I also have a part-time position as a paraprofessional in a special education class at an elementary school. #dojochat
I am currently in a Technologies of Instruction class with the great @SFecich who is teaching us multiple amazing tech tools that we can become comfortable with before entering the classroom! #gccedu#dojochat
A1: I'm very comfortable with using tech - have been using 1:1 devices in my classroom for the last 6 years. Been taking computers apart since I was about 8 years old. Haha. So, definitely tech-y. #dojochat
A1: I am the unofficial tech assistant at my school, when people have questions about our @Promethean boards, or any other tech, they come to me first, They don't call me the queen of the nerds for nothing #dojochat
A1 I'm comfortable but not super confident. I feel like there are so many more advanced apps and things I could learn! Teach me oh wise ones!!! #dojochat
A1 I don't have any experience in an English classroom (sorry, I forgot to say that's what I'm going into) that uses technology, but I feel like I'm comfortable learning how to incorporate technology into the classroom. #dojochat

A1: Since taking #edtech I have learned numerous different tech tools to use in the classroom, one being @ClassDojo! I feel very confident using technology in my future classroom, and am excited to learn more about the other resources out there! #dojochat#gccedu
A1. So far, I have learned how much students use technology every day. Technology can be used to help students learn vocabulary through programs like Quizlet and they can learn content for many classes through online games such as Kahoot. #dojochat
A1: I’ve taught technology before and love integrating into my 2nd grade classrooms. We have a SmartBoarf iPads, 2 desktops and access to computer lab. Almost every lesson I teach has some tech component or station. #dojochat

I’d say I’m pretty good, always ready to explore and learn new things. I find it tricky when I move schools and each school seems to do things differently, that’s when I need support. Generally I pick it up quickly enough #dojochat
That is still more access than many students get! I've been in classrooms where they have 1:1 devices and they are only being pulled out while I am there - which is every other week. #dojochat
A2 At UM Western, we have great resources for rural students that come in some Fridays for the elementary education majors. The rural schools I have done field experience with have had so much funding for computers for students as well. #dojochat
A2: Much more satisfied this year that I was in the past, We got a new tech and she is all for letting my SPED kiddos have the tech that they need, not to mention I supplement with Kindles from my @DonorsChoose projects #dojochat
A2: I am kind of the point person (as the Tech TOSA) for the school sites I oversee - especially for those Ts who aren't as comfortable w/ tech. And I'm a plethora of resources! Was just telling a T today about @ClassDojo portfolio feature. He said he'd have to try it! #dojochat
What would you all consider to be adequate tech resources in your school? As a preservice teacher I haven't had to deal with this yet, but I am interested to hear what you all have to say! #dojochat
A2 One problem I have seen in the area where I went to high school, though, is that the alternative high school often got shunted when it came to technology. Elementary schools often got new technology before those high schoolers. #dojochat
A2
I love that I have enough computers in my room for my class (6:1:1).
I don’t mind that I have no Smartboard b/c I’ve never had one that works anyways.
I would love to have access to tablets. So many uses!
#dojochat
A2: I have 10 iPads from @DonorsChoose (broken up into multiple projects) our K team shares 24 chrome books- 6 in each class and 25 iPads- 6ish in each class. It's ok for me, but my extra iPads keep me satisfied to do all my tech stuff #dojochat
@ClassDojo#dojochat Q2 I am pretty satisfied with our tech resources. Each classroom has 10 Chromebooks. I also have 3 Chromebooks that a parent donated to our class last year. About half of my students bring their own devices daily.

I taught in SPED for 10+ years before moving into a Tech TOSA role this year. I remember begging admins for tech because #SPEDCanToo! My K-3 students could do a lot of what the general education kids were doing. #dojochat
at least 5 ipads/chromebooks to have in a center for K-2s and third and up should have their own 1:1 devices. At least, that's how we do it in our school and everyone seems pretty satisfied #dojochat
At the elementary school I work, we have ipads that get replaced almost every year which has been very helpful. Our students love the games and the educational apps where they can practice writing letters, numbers, etc. Rather than constantly doing it on paper. #dojochat
A2: Pretty satisfied! Usually if we don’t have something we can get or borrow it (if reasonable.) We’re a 1:1 school so a lot of things are possible! Smartboards and apple tvs! #dojochat
Our tech last year was very anti-sped, He loved to tell me how he didn't think my kids belonged at the school >:-/ I have all the tech I need this year! our new tech is awesome! #dojochat
It's crazy how much technology has changed in the classroom since I've been in elementary school, it must be so beneficial for students to have their own devices #dojochat
A2: I’m so lucky to have iPads in the classroom to use with small groups. 4th and 5th graders have 1:1 Chromebooks, 1:1 iPads would be a dream! #dojochat
A3
Hope I’m answering this correctly:
I love https://t.co/vJs2IsFemf
And I also enjoyed using Fountas and Pinnell with all the tech resources they provided. #dojochat
A3: Raz-Kids, Teach Your Monster To Read are two of my favorites. I just finished all of my running records on Raz-Kids! Paperless and I have kids voices recorded reading to reference back to. @ReadingAZ#dojochat
Honestly I still prefer them having an actual real book in their hands if possible but this tech is amazing. They can search ebooks on any topic! I hope you get funding. It’s life-changing! #dojochat
A3/A4: With @ClassDojo's portfolio feature Ss can now show what they know. So taking a pic of their center work and explaining the process = accountability and real world tech skills #dojochat
A5 My Ss are building bridges as an extended STEM activity. Having the Bridge Builder Simulator along with virtual experiments with force, tension, torsion, etc. have all helped Ss to understand. #dojochat
I am passionate about literature. I can't wait to share my knowledge and love of novels, short stories, poetry, etc. with my future students! #dojochat
Science. Specifically space-nerd. Love taking my kids on a virtual field trip to the International Space Station every year @ISS_CASIS@ISS_Research@NASA#dojochat
A6: I love my @silhouetteam - I used to do so much for my classroom with it! Now, it helps with the side hustle. Haha. I also started presenting at conferences this year - so I have a Logitech presentation remote that I LOVE! #dojochat
A5: I'm a big science nerd! Just got done presenting at the CA STEAM Symposium here in Long Beach a couple of weekends ago! I love anything science! #dojochat
A7 You won’t know if you don’t try it out! Trying several different platforms is the best way to see what works best with your Ss. Honestly, they pick it up faster than I do and they let me know what they think. #dojochat
A7: It's a lot of playing around with it myself. I might look at reviews on @CommonSense. My fellow teachers are also a great resource if they've used it - they are very honest about what works for them and what doesn't. #dojochat
A7: I usually test it out myself and sometimes use my 6 and 7 year old guinea pigs (kids). If they love it and it meets my learning objectives, it’s a keeper! #dojochat
A8 Let them know it's okay to start small, to ask questions, and model for them so they can understand how you work things into your classroom routine. Adults learning something new are just like your students! #dojochat
#dojochat GROWTH MINDSET!! Start small & manageable, but don’t be afraid! If you mess up, it’s a great way to show your kids that #realadults mess up and #learn from it! #ownyourmistakes
A8: Just try it. Play with it and start small. You’re not going to love every app. Start with one app that colleagues are using so you have someone to go to for help. Have fun! #dojochat
A8: Always try it before you present it, and be ready to make changes as you go. Implementing new tech is really about practicing over and over and learning what works and what doesn't. Implement student feedback as well #dojochat
