The goal of #wvedchat is to provide educators an opportunity to connect, share, and learn from others by engaging in conversations around issues and topics in education.
A1: I think of it essentially as your own radio show where you can discuss whatever concepts you like. I enjoy discussing my life as a middle school history teacher! #WVEdChat@ERobbPrincipal@ToddRisser@blocht574@_on11
A1: A podcast is a video or audio presentation shared with the world over the Internet. Can be on YouTube, FlipGrid, on a media host, or anywhere it can be accessible to others. #WVEdChat
A1: Not too familiar with podcasts, but my def is a modern day news radio show for the internet. You can listen when you want & search based on topic #wvedchat
A2: Absolutely! I have two students creating a podcast series on World War 2 which I can use as instructional material in the future to help engage students in different topics based on interest! #WVEdChat#sschat@DeemAlysia
A2 I think this would be tricky at elem level, but it can be done. Thinking lit discussions. Anyone know of any #elementary#podcasts? Def see use at HS level #wvedchat
A2: Sure! I think it would awesome to have kids create their own. Any time students are creating, in the case of a podcast - reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills could be practiced, they are learning and growing #wvedchat
A2: YES, YES, YES!
Ss and Podcasting is touches so much of what they need - writing, public speaking, content creation, collaboration, synthesis, analysis, planning, expression...
#wvedchat
My conversation with #teachercast on #TheRandallBlackShow discussed just this. It hits all levels in Bloom's. It blows SAMR out of the water. Podcasting is great! #WVEdChat
A3: YES!
Podcasts are a great method of connecting schools with their communities! Great marketing tool to promote and share a schools story with the community and THE WORLD!
#wvedchat
A3: Of course: Have students report about learning, what's happening at school etc #wvedchat Great way to share all the awesome that happens in a school!
A3 YES! Admin @NorthPanthers1 does this with weekly phone calls called #NorthNews. Very helpful to communicate with families, many of whom are ESL #wvedchat
Imagine taking that phone call and putting it into a podcast feed for each language your parents speak. Get the news and updates to them in the language they understand best! #WVEdChat
#wvedchat as a podcaster (4 yrs) I'm happy to connect with anyone to talk podcasting the awesomeness that it can be for you, Ss, and schools! #HouseofEdTech
A4: I learn so much from the educational podcasts I listen to. They help me to develop my skills and learn about new tools out there to make my job easier and better for my students. #WVEdChat
A5: I don't really listen to any educational ones, other than as I come across topics of interest, but I really love @NPRinvisibilia. It's not about education, but about humanity, in a way that I have found relevant to our work #wvedchat
A6: @Flipgrid could def help my Ss in learning the ins & outs of speaking publicly. Next step is to have them listen to some. Plenty of resources for me to chose from it seems! Thanks!! #WVEdchat
Q7 I like the ideas others shared earlier, book talks and news. I may also see about student created digital citizenship talks. Still thinking... #wvedchat
True, but they allow redirects to get you moved easily. They have been around for a little while and dedicated to podcasting (unlike #SoundCloud). #WVEdChat
