A3 - Not exactly empathy, but... Whenever we have conflict in our classroom, students can choose to do Rock-Paper-Scissors, Think Win-Win, or Choose Kind, and my kiddos often "Choose Kind" by saying "It's OK, you can have it." or "No big deal. Let's do it your way!" #Peekachat

A4 - Having kids write cards to the students returning to school after a shooting or servicemen & women abroad. Volunteering to play games with seniors at a local nursing home. Learning about challenges others face on a daily basis, like lack of water or power. #Peekachat
A4 - For ten years, I invited a student and his/her family each Monday to volunteer with me at a local soup kitchen. I would be in the kitchen cooking while they would set up, serve, and take down. Really taught students empathy & a new perspective on struggle. #Peekachat
A4: I think global collaboration on a common project or goal can help foster empathy. I do virtual field trips and mystery @SkypeClassroom to help my students see how similar they are to youth around the world. When you feel similar you can empathize easier. #Peekachat
