I had a super negative math mindset student last year. Worked and worked and worked with him to change it. Finally did and he sent me a card to thank me for helping him change. Victory! #bfc530
Victory - 3 years ago someone drew the conclusion that I lacked competence and it snowballed into a painful 3 years. Recently I was reappointed to my position of leadership #bfc530
Before break I sat down and went through responsibilities that I was failing at and managed to delegate those task to people who were excited to do them. Thats hard for me. #bfc530
I am Blessed that I teach a grade with so many “firsts” so just in the past few days we have had a few firsts/victories that were truly amazing! It reenergizes you! #grateful#Blessed2teach#bfc530

Got kudos from a parent recently because her ex-non-reader son couldn’t put our class novel down at home. (She did admit it might be because he didn’t want to wash the dishes, but I prefer to see it as a victory). 📕👍#bfc530

I got a teacher to involve students more often in lessons by creating a system of required questions throughout instruction. They needed a structure. #BFC530

This week, a client told me "If it weren't for the relationship that we have, I would have been nervous when you came to see this class. But I wanted you to see them exactly as they are so you can help me figure out what else to try." #bfc530

It would have to be some recent success I have had intentionally building relationships with both teachers and students. The best relationships are the ones that take the most work. #bfc530
Setting high goals and executing together with @MrsMues - 2018 has been a rousing success so far!! Oh and @focusmatehas been HUGE for my productivity #bfc530
One of my lowest readers who has a bunch of issues tested at a higher reading level. He’s been over the moon happy about learning to read just from that one little success 😊#bfc530

this year, I haven't been operating at 100%. I don't really know why, but I love my school and my teachers too much to let that stand. I have to do better. #bfc530
5 tips for building class climate:
1) Talk to kids when they walk into class.
2) Learn 1 thing about each student.
3) Praise publicly and criticize privately.
4) Apologize when you need to.
5) Don’t take yourself too seriously.
I have enjoyed working with colleagues who are reaching out to work with me for the first time. It's been a great experience. Also excited about the shift in mindset that I'm seeing throughout my building. #bfc530
I had a student come to me before the break to share her concern for the welfare of another student. The fact that she trusted me to handle it discretely, or trusted me at all to tell me was huge. #bfc530

I am realizing more and more the nuanced wisdom behind Anne Frank's quote; "How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world." I believe that improvement starts with relationships. #bfc530
Good morning #bfc530 family. This is such a hard question today! It’s been kind of a “2 steps forward, 1 step back” kind of year, but having a like-minded colleague in my department to collaborate with (for first time in years) feels most victorious.
I had an indigenous boy... Year 9 with about Year 2 reading level. Class had to read out loud. He practiced and practiced and did it... he was so proud he was offering to read out to anyone in the yard #bfc530
Recent victories...more of my students are independently doing up their zippers on snow pants and jackets, more students using the washroom without reminders...small but major victories in the Kinder world! 😊👍 #bfc530

Yesterday we had a round table conversation on Machiavelli’s The Prince. Several “shy” Ss participated & was great! It also reinforces the idea of changing the layout of your classroom to encourage more participantation. In this case I went from small group to circle #BFC530

Morning, #bfc530. Had odd bonding moment yesterday w/sometimes prickly student who commented out of blue on my likeness to Rupert Holmes. (Student taught me he sang Piña Colada song, a.k.a. Escape in 1980). We then talked music, which felt like small victory.
