Keep going, it gets better and you get better; it is still hard, but keep going
Sometimes courage doesnt’ roar but is the quiet voice at the end of the day that says I’ll try again. #bfc530
Good morning everyone- best advice for new teacher: be kind to yourself & follow your own teaching heart (what works for others may not work for you). #bfc530
Good morning, all! My advice: Don't believe what they tell you. You can't teach from a textbook, and there is no script. Every class is different, so tell the kids to fasten their seatbelts, and take them on the ride of their lives. #bfc530
Find your teacher squad, the people who will encourage & support you, tell you what you need to hear not what you want to hear, make you better while you do the same for them as well #BFC530
Present learning targets in more than 1 way -- virtual/handout, aloud, in student's own words; allow a choice to show what Ss know + turn on accessibility #edtech tools that support what they produce 10 Tips for engagement https://t.co/zAdzeDPvgA via @CAST_UDL#bfc530
New teachers need to know that it’s a really hard job and some days you’ll want to quit but you have the opportunity to change lives for the better every day and it’s 100% worth the struggle. #bfc530

#bfc530 My best advice to a new #teacher is to take care of yourself: get enough sleep, eat right, spend time with family. You are a better teacher when you are well rested, happy, and healthy.
The first year (at least) is overwhelming, don’t give up because it gets better. Oh and you don’t need to grade everything because it will drive you insane. #BFC530

Gm. Don’t pack a cape. Ss need a skilled provider of material who organically believes in the growing abilities of all. That will be enough to start. Remember that u aren’t the end all. They have a world that educates them too. Recognize it. #BFC530
Best advice for education newbies includes: find best practice models, enjoy each day, understand your own learning curve, focus on student success #bfc530
New teacher advice: Set boundaries for how much work you’re willing to do at home and stick to them. Your family needs you, and your spirit needs time off the clock too. #bfc530
I think a huge challenge as a new teacher is knowing when to listen to advice from experienced teachers and when to follow your gut. But in the end—it’s all about growing into your comfort. #bfc530
If you want to do teaching right, it's really hard, you will be sacrificing time w/friends to dedicate time to your students & your craft. If you find it your passion, dont quit, it does get easier & will fill your life with more joy than the work #bfc530
I filmed group activities in class today for a project. One thing I learned by watching it was that students like to answer me while I'm still asking the question. When the ones with soft voices do this, I never hear their answers, nor do I have a clue they gave an answer.
In honor of National Principals Month, I've invited elected officials to shadow me for part of a school day.
Today, I will be visited by a state senator.
No pre=planned events. We are just going to see how the day unfolds.

While you prayed for this job, & others interviewed for it, you can still take calculated risks. Think about your 1 big goal for your first year teaching & plan several small steps toward that goal. No one fires you for working toward the very thing they hired you to try! #bfc530
Good to hear. We are all alwsys here to bounce ideas... it's pretty much what I do all day with my colleagues and we have kids that make teachers cry #bfc530
Or kids who always want to answer ?'s who look annoyed b/c you have chosen to hear other voices. I understand their genuine frustration, but remind myself, there are students who are shy to volunteer but wishing you choose them #bfc530
Build relationships. Take time for yourself. It’s never easy but it does get easier. Celebrate the small wins for you and for your students. Enjoy the journey... it’s different and new every single day! #bfc530
Another word of advice to new teachers...what you learned in the education classroom doesnt work as perfectly when played out in the actual classroom. Students & their backgrounds are unique, as well as you. Be flexible #bfc530
Good morning everyone! It’s been a while. Checking in from Varina, VA. Advice for new teachers: listen, really listen to your students; also, don’t be afraid to try something you know is best for your kids even if no-one else is willing! #bfc530
You'll have crappy lessons (a lot of them), not everyone is going to like you, technology will fail you during a lesson.
Despite those things: put the kids first at school, have a life besides your job, seek out a mentor or at least a friend at work. #BFC530
The best advice I could give a new teacher is do not fear failure. Take it, use it, and push forward. Believe in yourself and search out the school that fits you. Build your #PLN and look for that leader that will support you, emphasize with you, and encourage you. #bfc530
I think using that time to experiment and find out what kind of teacher you are is important - don't be afraid to "fail" or bomb, it's all apart of your learning process #bfc530
Be reflective every single day. Own up to your conditions. Own up to your instruction. Challenge and think deeply about your own beliefs about students. #BFC530

Coaching a novice teacher requires respect and humility. Don't tell the novice teacher what to do; offer suggestions and offer collaboration. Learn together

The best advice I’d give to a new teacher is that it is essential to care for yourself so you can care for others. Don’t be afraid to take a duty free lunch, not work on the weekend and take a sick day. #bfc530
Don't try to master everything at once. Everyday, reflect and make one simple change to make the next day better. Before you know it, your classroom will look like the one you've always imagined. #bfc530
Be true to yourself & your values.
-Kids recognize inauthenticity
-You'll sleep better
Find your balance while working to be your best.
-Everything won't go as planned, even w/ great plan
-Forgive yours elf
-Don't take it personally
-Take care of your health w/o guilt

Whenever you play a game in class, whoever gets 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, call the parents. Let them know how their kid did great. This will be helpful later on when phone conversations may not be as great. #bfc530
