Excited to be joining everyone from Let's go!
you're gonna host a chat while at conference?
Welcome everyone to looking forward to this great topic. I teach year 5/6 students in little old Invercargill 👍🏽
Good evening Robyn here from Waikanae with the fire cranking! Feels like winter hit all at once today!
I'm Michael. I teach (and fight for) a crazy (in a good way) year 3/4 class in East Auckland
Jo from Melbourne here! I'll be jumping in late - getting my chiro on first!🙌🏼
I agree with you there! Pretty sure we seen all 4 seasons from Invercargill
There' a need for every1 to become digitally proficient because it's the way our world works, as Ts we need to guide our S
Q1 Why is there a need for new teachers to become digitally proficient? Sorry typo on the slide!
Joining tonight from Akl NZ seen a few of your great chats keen to participate :)
A1: You want new teachers to be flexible, up to date and relevant. It should be a deal breaker for new staff
Yes, and many people see it as one. We've had a paradigm shift and we need to keep up.
Welcome as always, new voices have the same voices as the vets!
fully agree.. It's just apart of the world we are in at the moment. Also the students teaching teachers too
A1 Ts old and new need to be digitised plus in the UK we need to have 10% online learning
great to have you joining in and getting involved!
The skill is the most important over the task or teaching IMO.
The skill is the most important over the task or teaching IMO.
A1. Judgement is the enemy! I have been working with digital ed for 10years I am not proficient! Me judging! #
A1 Otherwise we won't be able to meet the needs of our students. We need to prepare them for an unknown future. Not our past.
Wow, that's amazing, how did teachers react?
Ts need to meet their Ss where they work and play - digitally
and is it compulsory or you can opt into online ?
A1: The need to be role models is so important
Sorry typo! Should be "why?" Q1
Sorry typo! Should be "why?" Q1
and our Ss can guide us! They know more about Smart phones than I do.
So many ill-advised ways to use technology nowadays - this is so important that Ss see how they can use it for good
IMO A1 Has to be compulsory to be equitable!
A1 It is crucial for teachers nowadays to be updated and keep track of everything that is going on around them!
A1: digitally proficient necessary as Ss world will be digital in ways yet to reveal themselves.
Great point and at times be guided by the students! A1
how to differentiate all the digital skills avail - no time to learn them all? Focus on yr field?
https://t.co/uDyhFXDMIm
The skill is the most important over the task or teaching IMO.
A1 the world is moving into tech students need to learn the skills to make them able to participate in their world
Proficiency can be measured on such a wide scale. New Ts already come with some digital proficiency and more for some
and purpose in the class. Rather as a device using it as a tool to support learning
A1: Matt from Perth. Without digital proficiency, new teachers will be left behind. Not a Q of why, simply, how proficient?
Makes them very powerful if allowed!
A1: It enables them to expand their own skill sets thus making them more valuable in changing times.
absolutely - need to understand good and bad side of tech honest discussion and debate
A1 IMO it's a non-negotiable for every educator
A1 Ss are learning in a digital world & we have high expectations of them. We should have the same for ourselves/colleagues
I agree! Students are already in this world we need to learn to navigate it and guide them aswell!
Each school also requires digital proficiency depending on their resources and own setups
But non-digitized Ts do this very well - get Ss to run all things tech! Maybe not a bad idea
Great question, where do you start? A1
Great question, where do you start? A1
if you want a great OFSTED grade then this is part of the journey.
absolutely! Cannot expect more of our Ss than our Ts!
fully agree with you there. How proficient do you think they need to be ?
Yup. You connect to your students as well, as you become the student and they the teachers! https://t.co/bRc65COxKV
I agree! Students are already in this world we need to learn to navigate it and guide them aswell!
How does this help the learning? A1
A2 Depends on the T, but probably should be realizing the "experts" are just the ones trying new things and it's ok to fail
A2 illustrating efficiencies, connections and collaboration with tech to improve learning
fully agree it's the learning from each other! Breaking that traditional barrier as the teacher knows it all
A1: Ts need to lead by example and be able to function in a tech. driven world
A2 Make sure that your not using a PC. Thats another deal breaker.
Q1: do you mean why? Because we should be leading the way not trying to catch up ;)
Yes when the SmartBoard isn’t working I just ask the Ss and they sort it!
If they ask you where the globes are kept for the OHP, that's a whole other Q... Depends on school!
Exactly! https://t.co/JoTN4wMvvg
fully agree it's the learning from each other! Breaking that traditional barrier as the teacher knows it all
Hi Anna here, sulking about not being at
A1: T's need to become proficient in pedagogy... Digital tech is merely a tool
A2: Change is scary for all of us. Streamlining it with ideal practical purpose is step 1. Buy in easier.
A2. Collaborating&sharing and then coaching!
I agree. Practice over theory. Any day!
Too often we are 10 years or more behind the real world...
A1 One of OFSTED’s criteria is Ss learning
in regards to tech, I know I am the learner
and we don't have to be... not at all...
A2; Experiment with different devices and software
great point! How do you think the best way to collaborate is?
Sharing is a great way to start - showing faith in those who are worried can help build confidence to have a go
A2 Joining twitter and participating in these chats?
That's an amazing stance from OFSTED, may be positive in so many ways!
and I think that's important to know that! We are all in BETA mode we are all learning constantly
A 1:1 school. Should be able to do almost everything or willing to learn. And teach themselves!
a2: finding a common goal that we can all strive towards that noone can argue with. It's got to be cultural and from the top
A2: A collaborative learning of skills and understandings. Work better together and for the class, all participants.
We want ss to take risks, it starts with us ts
Hahaha. For some. Though it could be overwhelming for others. To each their own, I guess.
exploration I agree! Where do you start? Trying anything or is there specific place you go?
a2 make it accessible and embedded into existing school programs. Show them how it fits.
Great questions. I think you start from the student location?
A2 Being brave and just giving it a go. Having a play. Asking colleagues for their best tech hacks for making T'ing easier
think the key is in that comment willing to learn and try! Great points
Nice what if it doesn't fit? Then what?
Nice what if it doesn't fit? Then what?
Very true.. But many of the best tools can be enhanced by tech
to get a feel for it. Is it user friendly? What we need?
and I think given the tools and opportunity to do this aswell.
It's a struggle for many Ts to understand that it's ok not to get it right first time.
A2 Talk with your students about the benefits that incorporating modern is going to bring to their education!
A2: The needs of the Students over the needs of the Teacher. What will improve Student Learning must be our first step!
Ss Smart phones work better than our tech & if not in a room full of computers the way to go
I think maybe starting with something that grabs ur attention
Love the notion of getting "a feel" for it!
great points and I think everyone is different and works in different ways so finding the right tool for the job
we all have opportunity... maybe we do need more tools?
share failures more often esp. if you're considered the 'expert' tech person help Ts realise we have to start somewhere
To get it wrong and keep trying! Just like we tell our Ss...
A2.You need to create a journey of skill development4your students! Doesn't matter what software it matters what they create
and understanding what works for us might not work for others
A closer link to their learning out of school. Smart phones are legitimate tools.
A closer link to their learning out of school. Smart phones are legitimate tools.
Exactly! As ts we need to compete with what grabs the ss attention
Mixed reaction some went for it others waited
We're now up to Question 3. Loving the collaboration and sharing. I'm learning big!
and something accessible and you have a small idea and give it a go to build confidence
This is instituitionalized though. Many schools expect it
A2 Don't be afraid to fail. Be open to it and learn from it! Your students will have your back no matter what!
Nice, often the teachers are the hardest at accepting such a mindset!
Yes. they need to see the relevance https://t.co/BacpS7xSRb
A2 Talk with your students about the benefits that incorporating modern is going to bring to their education!
yes! Student learning needs drive teacher profession learning!
fully agree. Programmed to get it always right/perfect but in reality we expect t&s to fail
Put your students first. https://t.co/IjLwkUtMOM
A2: The needs of the Students over the needs of the Teacher. What will improve Student Learning must be our first step!
I would love pour equivalent ERO to expect the 10%, would be transformational!
I would love pour equivalent ERO to expect the 10%, would be transformational!
HI everybody. Sorry late starter tonight. Ben from Feilding, NZ.
...and we are going through the steps we expect the ss take
Very cool post, school needs to resemble life not a lab!
Very cool post, school needs to resemble life not a lab!
pens / paper legitimate so should a tool like a Smart Phone
A2 it's always good to have a backup option in case it is a middle of lesson fail
Nowadays, everyone wants results, and the sooner as you show them that, the better! https://t.co/joC00vy3H1
Yes. they need to see the relevance https://t.co/BacpS7xSRb
A2 Talk with your students about the benefits that incorporating modern is going to bring to their education!
IMO smartphones are awesome learning tools
Great point, so then what? How do we break such embedded thinking?
A2 Step 1: identify student needs. Step 2: use these to shape & drive teacher professional learning.
we have taken idea of BETA mode in my class and the students love it. It's okay if we 'failwhale'
Nice Angela, hardest part for new Ts, that students need individual learning!
Do what we do - Try new things. Fail. Improve. Repeat. Show them what's possible.
we are now planning for the next academic year & selected units that will be inc in the 10%
welcome Ben! Great to have you on board!
For new Ts, it's as if the failing defines them poorly. In reality, it's the opposite!
Walking the walk. Tell Ts its ok to learn/fail/try again. Walk with them always!
A2 I am among the first teachers in to have conducted English classes through . My students are loving it!
modelling that process of failure and showing them the problem solving
Great info tonight Chris, boy am I learning!
not always just new teachers
It has to do with the grading system as well. Ss feel that a high grade=success.
fantastic! Fully agree! How will it impact the students/improve
We tell teachers to walk the talk, be honest, transparent tostudents.
We tell teachers to walk the talk, be honest, transparent tostudents.
Insist that there is not one right way to do anything. Can be a mindblowing idea!
A2 Allowing the opportunity for exploration of the device with a direction. Should be a calm and happy experience.
A2 Ensuring the network is up to standard and can handle the influx of devices.
Great point, grading outcome allows no consideration of journies or road less travelled!
One of the biggest frustrations for those not onboard with Tech!
that whole idea of walking the talk & then we understand the ss struggles aswell
so important to remove any potential barriers for new Ts when starting out with tech
Maybe, if we don't see failing as learning for students and teachers!
Maybe, if we don't see failing as learning for students and teachers!
If only we could teach that. I have told my new staff I want them to fail! Then we talk about it...
I'm on a constant quest to find a way around it all. Limit the importance of a grade! https://t.co/5LaNJ5STB1
Great point, grading outcome allows no consideration of journies or road less travelled!
Nice Robyn, safety in numbers.
often if people are unsure about something and it fails once it is very unlikely they will return.
Pl needs to advance the school's strategic direction. It can't be ad hoc. Ts r time poor. Can't be distracted by the shiny
Or grade the risk-taking over the outcome!
Or grade the risk-taking over the outcome!
Great post Matt, in life failing is learning, needs to be seen the same way in schools IMO.
apropos your pt, how difficult is it to ensure all your ss have the same-similar digital tools https://t.co/WsCTVxmPxC
that whole idea of walking the talk & then we understand the ss struggles aswell
agree need to have thought through potential problems as tech team / leadership team first
Exactly! Tech. is not straight forward or easy sometimes
Very important. A malfunctioning piece of equipment is not equipment at all!
Yes and that it'll only increase their prominence in the school.
Yes and that it'll only increase their prominence in the school.
That could have some interesting consequences for students who want extra credit ;)
My theory is " If it doesn't same me or my students time it isn't worth knowing!"
I wish I could grade this all the time
im still a BT & that's one of the biggest learning curve for me.It's okay to fail & you learn
Great idea, I think it needs regular reinforcement and role-modelling by the veterans too.
My food students get extra marks for risky products that fail! Then they challenge themselves.
that must be so frustrating for everyone! What's the biggest issue you face?
I'd be willing to do that! Risk-taking encourages creativity! https://t.co/kL5Zvt803o
Or grade the risk-taking over the outcome!
Yeah! Nicely said! Relationships!
human connect and real world for them rather than teacher always knowing the answer
I know that first hand sometimes
that must be so frustrating for everyone! What's the biggest issue you face?
In reality, it's what counts in the end and in life!
A2 year introduced to Ss so that they could plan an adventure walk
At the end of the day, the teacher should know what's best for his/her students right?
My theory is " If it doesn't save me or my students time it isn't worth knowing!"
Nice and it's the only way to a thriving over surviving future!
Nice and it's the only way to a thriving over surviving future!
I think so and the teacher knows best by learning from the experts, the students.
and is not always prized highly enough
love that! High expectations from you and also on themselves and tasking risks brave
I agree, I learnt very little from the theory at TC but volumes from the practicums.
A4 Voluntary PL all the way. Ss and Ts should always both have choice
Someone has to do it. Why not us?
the whole idea of purpose & to support the learning/make it better not just cause you can
Where was Q3? So distracted by side conversations...
Took me 10 years to value the journey as much if not more than the destination.
Always the human element. Empathy comes to mind
A4: Categorize and prioritize would be my call. Not everything is a must. But what is, should be done well.
A4: PL should a journey that a staff of teachers go on together - helping each other along the way. COLLABORATION!
I agree, can't keep passing the baton on and thinking we've done our bit!
I am all for voluntary professional development.People will learn what they want to learn. Being forced to learn doesn't work
A4 If you make PL purposeful and meaningful enough staff buy-in will create itself
fully agree with you there. & that teaches student life skills too
A4 Ts need to be learners, but learning needs to be individualised for Ts relevant to them
A4 In our school, compulsion made it easier for Ts and make it seem valid and essential!
A1 Being 'digitally proficient' means that you are communicating with others. Like this wonderful
A4 Be a mentor, not a leader. Listen to your students, but remember that you know what's best for them!
a4 unfortunately compulsory. Pathways should be optional though. Same as with ss.
Late to join the chat tonight! A4 A bit of both. Compulsory staff PD, but with a culture of trying things out voluntarily
Seriously one day I will get the timing right. Loretta from Canberra here. I will catch up. https://t.co/zHHspnmF2H
Voluntary PD all the way. That way it is individualise to what I need and want
So are you saying it should be compulsory but what is learnt should be variable?
A4: Globally connect myself and my ss
Great answer Jen, completely agree!
which is what we should make a priority
A4: PLD seems to work if it's linked to a teachers inquiry - relevant & achievable
fantastic to hear! My s think I'm crazy by i model bt take risk what I want frm s
To encourage Voluntary professional the courses must be motivating, engaging and high quality. Like what we prepare for Ss
Sounds like a good idea to me: you have to learn, but you choose what you learn...
LOL. NO worries, I got confused, being in Brisbane!
Q4: PL compulsory for the basics, but free choice offered to build on those skills is helpful
is there worthy learning that doesn't save time? Is expediency the only goal?
A4 both - Our organisations have their needs ex safeguarding, data protection & we have our own
A4: Compulsory, but let them choose their own adventure! Align to goals, needs and ambition. Show me th learning application!
welcome Loretta! Great to have you on board
A1 all teachers must become digitally proficient in order to ensure their students are ICT capable https://t.co/EaqYIKG9T6
Tech is a means not the end
A4 depends on the staff.. Options are good but whole school focus & expectations to try/use maybe
A4b Individualize your teaching, don't generalize it. Know your students well, analyze them and plan upon it!
ah yes, if only we could others to see that
I like that needs to be a priority
yes, but what that looks like for each teacher could be very different
Make it fun, keep them hustling! https://t.co/K3tkepCPz4
A4: Compulsory, but let them choose their own adventure! Align to goals, needs and ambition. Show me th learning application!
If what was on offer were interesting enough wouldnt need to be compulsory https://t.co/qN3xB8ovTm
Q4: PL compulsory for the basics, but free choice offered to build on those skills is helpful
A4 Combination of both. Needs to be compulsory for whole school processed (eg GAFE). Voluntary for whatever else helps S's
A4 - compulsory PD doesn't have to be major - could just be a 5 min sharing session at the start of meetings
A2 start with the basics and then get serious. Use SAMR to help, it's not a hierarchy but does help https://t.co/gezEaRCBMJ
Must classrooms be isolation chambers for teachers? Read > TEACHING PROBLEMS (And How to Solve Them) https://t.co/uB5xiRXmQG
I love going to pick your own PD full day courses. Lots of workshops to choose from and high quality eg
true ldrshp need to know their learners aka teachers and what they might need to move forward
A2 Does all PD need to be digitised? I love hands on and building stuff. Get people sharing on and the like
great point! Sometimes we get caught up on making it a big deal huge but baby steps work
Keep it simple, try 1 thing at a time https://t.co/9NOLOSP57T
A4 - compulsory PD doesn't have to be major - could just be a 5 min sharing session at the start of meetings
Nice best of both worlds, like this solution!
great ideas! Looks like a good read
Oh my gosh Loretta, I've been the same these last few weeks! Sorry I feel awful.
and you know what you need to work/next steps
I agree but should never be seen as a ladder!
A4 It also depends on the tech. If it has no context or authentic purpose to T'ing & L'ing then we need to question why?
I gotta head out! It's always a pleasure to be sharing ideas and learn from great educators! See you guys soon hopefully!
A4 where you given the time to do this or was there an expectation you did it in your own time?
No worries, you'll make it up with quality!
exactly! The purpose & goal needs to be the main pusher
Every teacher at my previous school had a poster of the SAMR model next to their desk to help when planning
Good in theory takes a lot of hard work in practice really need to know your learners/teachers well
As long as things are kept practical with a clear vision it should be an easy transition.
I'm fading fast. Gotta get to bed and be rested for tomorrow (might be moving classrooms!) Was fun while it lasted :D
In Aus we have begun goal based prof development. I am loving it. Create a goal and strive to meet it. Above and beyond!
great to have you on board! Fantastic ideas as always
Great q! We have digital learning for 50 staff every Friday 2.30-3.30 because of its importance. A4
Fully agree with you! https://t.co/Z33vNbCTd4
A4 It also depends on the tech. If it has no context or authentic purpose to T'ing & L'ing then we need to question why?
I respectfully disagree. Tech creates unique possibilities.may not be quicker but quality is better
Yes, realising when/where/why/how to move between the model is important for teachers
A1. Stop teacher isolation. Become digitally proficient… no more isolation chambers for teachers https://t.co/uB5xiRXmQG
Only way to get genuine teacher buy-in and belief and change in pedagogy in the classroom IMO.
A4 What if PD was like and teachers had to produce something at the end to show understanding ***COPYRIGHT THAT ROX!
fully agree! Small relevant steps! Needs to match what they are doing
I've been missing quite a few ed chats this year. Happy I was able to take part in this one. https://t.co/nTOCfooGFl
great to have you on board! Fantastic ideas as always
New teachers should have some autonomy over what they learn in the digital sphere
Nice Joanna, teachers often want a fixed schedule, NTs need to be comfortable in the fluid.
Imagine they had to make something and explain what they had learned in the process!
Nice Angela, otherwise, there's no ownership, any loyalty is very short-lived.
Nice Angela, otherwise, there's no ownership, any loyalty is very short-lived.
A5 a lot of autonomy, they know where their needs are
Sorry time for bed. Thanks for the discussions 😃
That wont be a larger scale thing either. Used to offer 10 min PD during lunches with agenda sent out. Ts chose.
How can more principals find time for this? Very lucky to have you https://t.co/jhvyDcwuNV
Great q! We have digital learning for 50 staff every Friday 2.30-3.30 because of its importance. A4
and they probably know about tech then us oldies
I agree! They don't know what they don't know
LOL. There does need to be minimum expectations and guidelines for NTs I believe!
A4 Thanks we have selected days throughout the year to have training imbedded in our timetable
A5 depends on the teacher/learner and where they're at if finding it tough may make sense to be more directed
A5 Any teacher needs to experiment with their own ideas whilst also being on the same wavelength as the school
A4 Both - in order to get to proficient on the Standards it's compulsory, after that - go crazy! https://t.co/lzbETzGWwb
A5 I have some say, lots of questions about what i need PL & also what I'm interested in! Links to our school focus & vision
Good q. We prioritise it as one of my key PL contexts and for student benefit obviously.
Let's just say, I'd be a heck of a lot more interested in PD!
A5 :I feel all Trs new and senior should have autonomy. Let us design our own based on what we need & passions
and what happens if the school is not strong in tech
I like this philosophy, minimum, then it's nutty professor time!
and key in what you said is opportunities and options. Best combination
Yes, some teachers may need more guidance than others - they may not have the skills to experiment on their own.
A5: None to start with. Here is what you need to know to get you started. Show me you know it! Then lots!
Interesting, what if a teacher (new) doesn't believe in ? A5
fantastic on both parts their is expectations for staff and keeps them on same page
Such a great perspective!
Do staff enjoy it being compulsory and all? Or because it doesn't eat into their APT or after school hours?
I'm not good at making things that don't include duck tape and super glue 😀😀😀
A5. Getting them on Twitter chats should be compulsory! Get the passion!
We did that with Minecraft and some Augmented Reality. Interesting to see some Ts from the front of the room!
A5 if they at competent & know impact on students then they have autonomy & it's within policy https://t.co/FEecL1Fr2Y
By having it in school hours, they're "paid" to attend but we make it as much fun as possible!
Is there a process for BTs at your school re: tech? From my persp. there was a lot of assumed skills/knowledge...
And also don't know where to start/how/why aswell.. Can be a really unknown place
Who decides the level of competency of the NTs and who audits? A5
A5 Collaboration needs to occur first for NTs. Scaffolding with guidance and direction before transitioning to autonomy.
A5 Need to ensure one doesn’t fall foul of Data Protection legislation Knowledge is key here
In 21st century classrooms u cant be a Tr without believing in it or least you will have to b able to use it.
Often times Ts dont know what they want. Offering chances allows them to think better. Like Ss I guess.
none at mine.. Started from scratch.. Built up through
We do have some but eventually they buy in or find our place too uncomfortable and leave.
A5 This entirely depends on the expectations placed on the NT, where they're at, and where the school wants them to get to
I completely agree and suggested it to a teacher today looking for PD opps https://t.co/uFqDp7pQyq
A5. Getting them on Twitter chats should be compulsory! Get the passion!
I agree but it doesn't stop some Ts having a go!
I agree but it doesn't stop some Ts having a go!
its been great, but I have to be gone now! Thanks for the chat, the inspiration, and the ideas.
There are two standards in the AITSL document - a good place to start https://t.co/TsCZzetZYF
Who decides the level of competency of the NTs and who audits? A5
it sparks ideas man! a lot of teachers are scared of Twitter & I think it's the unknown or not being good/right
That's the absolute minimum my friend! I expect a lot more but have to start somewhere.
That's the absolute minimum my friend! I expect a lot more but have to start somewhere.
I had a basic induction that I worked through with every1 new not just new to tchng esp how to ask for help
That's cool, only reference we have in NZ is to "modern learning", needs to be more explicit IMO.
You mean there are teachers who don't want to learn how to use tech? How long will their job last lol
great point! Relationships are essential exactly like ss. Build a culture of risk & collaboration
Nice concept, ensures they don't have to ask and be fearful of the learning.
Nice concept, ensures they don't have to ask and be fearful of the learning.
A5 I thought teachers all naturally learnt in their own time? Just me? Lol
what are the fears about twitter ? It is too public a platform maybe ?
They see it as a fad but struggle with the lack of power and knowledge in the classroom today!
They see it as a fad but struggle with the lack of power and knowledge in the classroom today!
Roxanne, the great ones like you do!
Roxanne, the great ones like you do!
I'm ICT literate (former specialist tchr) and find Twitterchats tricky. Cd b threatening for newbies https://t.co/ShxDOlpJhR
it sparks ideas man! a lot of teachers are scared of Twitter & I think it's the unknown or not being good/right
I think, fast paced, connecting with people you don't know. Not knowing the right groups or how to use
A5 this is our next stage
Q5: Knowing how to best use Google basics like browser, docs etc - just to organize themselves as Ts helps.
I just caught the back end of
Can someone please include me in the Storify when it's done? Many thanks. Still looking for #
Tweetdeck alleviates many fears & NTs need to understand they're a buffet, don't have to eat everything at once.
not willing to let go of not being in charge/ or not knowing everything from what I've seen
A6: Any platform that connects you with others
Nice Jangal, doesn't matter where one starts but that they start!
Nice Jangal, doesn't matter where one starts but that they start!
Yes lack of knowledge or know-how is a turn off for many.PL therefore has to have sharper / relevant focus.
No worries, Alex watch out for the archive I push out via twitter. Thanks for the support!
No worries, Alex watch out for the archive I push out via twitter. Thanks for the support!
I started with gafe tools like slides, docs, planning website and played & found how to use and why.
Here is my first go at creating an instructional video for my staff. Its about using digital rubrics. https://t.co/F5ekbwE90N
A6 If is too scary for new teachers, why not do a chat as a group or look at hashtag later? Discuss and digest.
One benefit of new Ts is that they have no baggage only the future!
One benefit of new Ts is that they have no baggage only the future!
A6 a place where they can get answers - G+, Twitter, Facebook new Ts group & where to get help eg. Gform/site
A6 Twitter with someone they know & trust to help them along the twitter journey making it easier to start & more sustainable
Yes the unknown terrain is scary,i understand. Hence i need the delete button for when i mess up! :P
Great point, that's why for the NTs and many Ts, needs to be explicit and scheduled.
that's what my tutor teacher said to me .. Fresh slate haha
A6 A good place to pick up tech tips is at Teachmeets. and are two excellent examples of sharing tech
Twitter too tricky for beginners. A6 I think using iPad apps in T&L is the way forward for those not confident.
Ideal. Get yourself set/comfortable as a regular user first before implementing things as an educator.
For me, it's , makes learning the focus and me a coach over teacher!
For me, it's , makes learning the focus and me a coach over teacher!
getting to the point of taking risks & giving it a go. It will get better but confusion scares people
Trust me, for us oldies, we have to forget the past to be effective in the now and future.
exactly and get comfortable explore make your own things then you see what works/dosent
A6 I'm with Melanie. Unless the NT has Twitter experience already. https://t.co/ueGr60tm14
Twitter too tricky for beginners. A6 I think using iPad apps in T&L is the way forward for those not confident.
Yes those are my favourites - many to choose from and user - friendly too.
fully agree. Small steps. Got to start somewhere
No worries, the fact you're here is a statement and shows you care about student learning.
No worries, the fact you're here is a statement and shows you care about student learning.
Great share, evidence and lots of it are king!
