A2: Fiction, graphic novels, high interest NF, and eBooks in both areas
Student ownership is a HUGE motivator
A2: I've done a big overhaul of our E sec b/c kids want bks they could see themselves in. Graphic novels, cooking & engineering!
Best thing I did in early 1990's was break up my biographies into categories. Saw easily what areas I needed to improve on.
These questions are really deep for so late in the semester! 😃
A2: As of late, focus has been on fiction. Just finished massive weeding. About to hit NF, will shift focus there in the spring.
Hi Walter! Lurkers are welcome
A2. Well loved resources constantly need replacing, so each year we looked at which readers needed us most and went to work.
I love doing this. We open a G doc and my 20 S aides contribute. https://t.co/ARL8o4hDrf

A2 Graphic Novels, 500s, chapter fiction
A2: all recent orders have been heavy on graphic novels and most recent has list books that we currently lack.
Jumping in! Elsa from the Rio Grande Valley!
A2: I've been replacing many well used hardbacks w/ eBooks. They don't get lost nor do they fall apart.
We must maintain our edge!
A2: Nonfiction to support curriculum, both digital & print, has taken lots of time & money & graphic novels due to high interest.
A2:Spanish & Digital Collection is where I've had to invest a lot of time/$ into! Was almost non-existent/wasn't meeting our needs
A2 Early chapter books. Sharks, Dinosaurs, books with main characters of diverse ethnic groups. We had limited choices.
Do you do any inventories to capture student feedback?
A2: Cookbooks are very popular this year in the library!
A3. Not really surprised but students in my district still love reading print books.
We can't keep book in the library.
Hi Elsa! I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley-Mercedes to be exact!
Spanish & Digital Collection - a high need in most TX libraries, school & public.
For sure - some as complex as google forms. Others as simple as a post-it note exit ticket.
A3: Suprised- graphic novels are still most popular, along with Erin Hunter and Wimpy Kid books!
A3 I was surprised by the amount of cookbook checked out
how do your students access your ebook collection?
Absolutely! Bks that celebrate different cultures/families that look like my Ss. Ex: Sofia Martinez & Ruby&Booker Boys.

A3: seeing steady usage increases, esp. with coming on board last summer. 17m searches this semester.
there is something very cozy about reading cookbooks
A3. Digital content seems better suited to research materials and print still the goto for fiction/independent reading.
A3-We have higher Overdrive stats w/Elem when compared to Secondary. Intially, I expected the reverse
I did surveys and focus groups on Ebola-print preference still high
YES! And finding QUALITY Spanish materials to support the curriculum can be so difficult to find!
Hi Becky! I live in McAllen. Love .
A3: Boys were checking out crafting bks! They took like birds to the sky when it came to the bks fr the sec.
I repeatedly tell vendors about this...it's very frustrating!
Q4: What 2015 titles have been most popular w/Ss & Ts? What are your 2016 title predictions? https://t.co/BoH6TGlgdm
Awesome. The more ownership Ss feel in the library & it’s resources, they more likely they are to use them. https://t.co/6K4VUxLWLc

A4 Amulet, Captain Awesome, I Survived, Sharks, Dinosaurs, Jurassic Park. I've noticed that what I market usually becomes a trend.
A4. If I were still in a library I’d have a book premier party for ’s glass sword.
District allowed Ss to download Brytewave to Windows tablets. Made circ go up
I've a library & cook-edu idea that I would love to see going in collaborations w/Ps & local colleges.
A4b: No 2016 predictions. We are usually reading the Bluebonnets and Lone Stars so we have not read newest titles yet.
Q4-What 2015 titles have been most popular w/Ss & Ts? What are you 2016 title predictions?
