-
-
-

We have to produce the Lenten Outreach videos. It's so different in high school and teaching one subject!

-
I love the Lenten reflection journals
-
Good morning from sunny Chicago!
-
-
What are some titles that you use?
-
A1: kickoff is Ash Wednesday prayer service. With many nonCatholics, it's a unifying experience as we all participate
-
-
A1: I've seen an idea where teachers can do activities that integrate #14 (Stations) & #40 (desert) to reflect Lenten themes.
-
It gets busy doesn't it! What did you enjoy most, Karen?
-
Oh good idea! Videos on digital citizenship!
-
1:"Doorway to Mercy"walking through the door to a closer relationship with God doing Corporal Works of Mercy

-
-
We do same! Looking forward to our services throughout the day!
-
Thanks. This is a big area of need this year!
-
Love it ... if you do some I would love to share them with my students
-
This would be a cool thing to explore more in a chat
-
I tried it during Advent and it worked really well.
-
one year, won the 'Best Class Ash'!
-
They are my reflection journal inspo. Ss love that pop culture serves a jumping point for reflection!
-
-
-
-
-
I had the 7th graders write thank you emails to all the faculty and staff. The response has been wonderful!
-
I can't wait to show you our first parade! Music class thematic unit in action
-
is now trending in USA, ranking 34
-
They sent us a box of Swedish Fish after Easter!
-
-
-
Q2 coming up in one minute!
-
-
Q2: How will you observe Lent in your school?
-
-
-
A2: We will be writing our good deeds of mercy/kindness on footprints. Then we will 'walk' to the cross.
-
-
A2:Whole school Ash Wed. prayer service, adoration at some point, stations of the cross
-
A2 We slow things down, try for less activity. Prayer services, extra reflections and prayer
-
Mass and an all school Lenten Outreach for Sarah Covenant Homes.
-
-
A2 Love our Stations of the Cross, done in Tableau style
-
A2: we're hoping to get fac/staff to host a simple meal in their homes for prayer and fellowship
-
You all are making me miss the classroom with your wonderful activities!! Enjoy this special time w/ students
-
Stand in the back of the classroom holding all your books as punishment
-
Lent at Home is a great topic for Pinterest/Twitter/Facebook posts.
-
-
A2 Love that our whole school participates in
-
My high school use to do "soup Fridays" w/ soup lunch, all proceeds donated to charity
-
A2: we'll also be supporting in classrooms and will being doing a food waste study
-
A2 Start with Ash Wednesday Mass together, 8th grade Live Stations of the Cross
-
Does anyone use Lent as time to build relationships with incoming students?
-
-
A2: Our Spiritual Life Committee publishes a newsletter with a theme (Mercy, e.g.) that we use for parent faith formation.
-
a food waste study, interesting!
-
A2 School has adult & student faith sharing/growing small groups led by Mission & Identity team. Daily prayer in chapel
-
Our school theme is "Journeying through Lent with Mercy." Works of Mercy activities.
-
Mary - love the living stations - one of my fav parts of Lent at school
-
-
These posts are awesome! Thanks for sharing!
-
Each week a Corporal Work of Mercy..Comfort the Sick send Valentine cards to shut ins
-
No candy sales, socials, etc. Just a quiet focused time.
-
I've stopped using "giving up technology" as an option...kind of a mixed up message.
-
A2: Don't forget the great ideas on We have a board with ideas
-
-
morning! I think you need to do 40 days of blogposts!
-
I've been wondering if there's a way to do a media "fast" somehow.
-
-
A2: we're doing a SOUPer jersey day next week to bring in cans for food pantry- 's idea!
-
Could it be a fast from non-purposeful media use?
-
-
-
Like that ... some media is part of job, etc.
-
perfect! Love the sports tie in!
-
Agree - Lots of ways to use tech more purposefully, be present to people - positive course rather than negative
-
-
not disagreeing, but I think we have to frame it right. Tech isn't candy, it should have value and substance.
-
great articles recently in mainstream media about and the whole "giving up" practice.
-
Or making better choices, but inevitably you get trolled (as we are today.) Goal: minimize noise.
-
-
For me it could be the time wasters of tech vs the useful and purposeful
-
A2: our Peer Ministers will be talking with freshman abt Lent and emphasizing the growth we should all look 4 in fasting
-
-
This is what I'm thinking
-
Media consumption as reflection on Ignatian Two Standards :-)
-
Kind of like the food fast- we might fast from coffee/chocolate, but not what we need to sustain life
-
-
Sounds like an article, blog post?
-
Classes created Work of Mercy poster to hang in hall and are doing service project of choice.
-
-
for students (and adults), there is a lot of waste and addiction with this
-
Like, spending 10 min. per day promoting an org. that supports the poor, perhaps?
-
-
-
-
I can own up to waste with it found a piece to work on for Lent
-
Question 3 coming up in 1 minute!
-
-
You don't need to give up, just use it wisely-send an email to a sick friend, etc.
-
-
-
exactly and that using tech is a vice of some sort - Time to move past that mindset yet it prevails
-
I believe we need to be on Social Media during Lent, being a positive voice!
-
-
Giving up some time on our devices to be more present to those around us is still not a bad idea, though.
-
Q3 How will you personally observe Lent this year?
-
if we are out as a family, phones not allowed ... must talk to each other, kids fight it but mom wins
-
-
-
Removing the distraction of our devices to "encounter" others could be powerful.
-
Good morning, everyone. Long time no see!
-
-
Morning Nick - I hope all is well
-
yeah! great to see you! I had your blog post ready to share for Q4!
-

-

-
-
A3: Looking for some reflective reading for this Lent, sustaining a positive attitude each day
-
-
Thanks, Marcie, good morning to you, too!
-
A3 Continue Spiritual Exercises... Intentional attention to providing loving response to all. Fasting from complaining!
-
Q4 Do you have any book recommendations for Lenten reading?
-
Makes perfect sense and there are plenty of ways to use tech to benefit others and do service
-
-
working on presentations this week while I am off
-
Key word: CAN. Would make a great personal Lenten reflection. I think I have something.
-
-

A4 Just bought two books 1-The Little Way of Lent by Fr. Caster and 2-Pope Francis: Living Lent with Passion
-
-
Our school provides it to the faculty and staff It has been waiting on my bedside table for two weeks
-
Why I'm going countercultural.Recognize evil spirit uses our complaints to focus us away from joyful Creation!
-
-
the Little Black Book is my favorite Lenten resource! Great variety, information, reflection, prayer!
-
-
