Good evening friends and welcome to #LCPSedchat Please introduce yourself! Susan, LCPS secondary instructional coach, we’re glad you’re here!
Stress, for me, at times, comes from not having enough time to get to all the teachers I want to in a week, especially with snow days 😑
Hey, its #LCPSedChat Time! I am Josh Thom, part of the Ed Tech office for Loudoun County Public Schools. Stress for me comes mostly from trying to manage what I want to be able to do vs the time to get it done.
Sharon Brandon, IFT. For me, it seems to largely boil down to not enough time in a day, and then things I cannot control that I wish I could...! #lcpsedchat
Good evening, #LCPSedChat!!! I'm Nick and I work in the Office of Ed Tech for LCPS! I get stressed when I can't find resolutions to problems that impact Teachers and Students OR fail to find the time to resolve problems for teachers and students in a timely manner. 😟
Good evening #lcpsedchat I’m Aaron, a guitar teacher at @RockRidgeHigh and @StoneHillMiddle
The biggest stressor for me is make g time for my professional responsibilities/students and my family life, especially with rehearsals and concerts.
Hi everybody- it’s nice to be back on the chat. As an assistant principal, I wish there were enough hours in every day to have a positive interaction with every adult and student in the school. Can be stressful when we aren’t feeling that we’re having an impact! #lcpsedchat
I here you JB, there can be a lot of tension when communicating with parents. Assumptions and unknown expectations can make that a stressful time. #lcpsedchat
A1: I like to be mindful of my stress level, I walk to distress or soak in a hot bath, chat with friends or play with my cats, and always strive to look for the good in every situation! 👍 #lcpsedchat
Being an educator is as much an art as a science- and can be stressful when your craft doesn’t align with philosophy of your admins and parents. Good communication and positive intentions are key #LCPSedChat
AIB: This is hard to answer because the reasons can fluctuate with the “seasons” (beginning of year, test time, initiatives, projects, evaluations...) but I keep coming back to (lack of) time & control. #lcpsedchat
Nick, that is a very hard place to be. When you heart and your path don't align it is like living in two worlds. That take a lot of energy. #lcpsedchat
So well put Dr. Z. convos are hard when you’re not on the same page. Letting go of needing to make your point and really listening matters. #lcpsedchat
Q2: What advice would you give to your younger self about how they should manage their stress so that they can love their job and feel accomplished? #LCPSedChat
A2: My younger self would not listen to me. This is said with tongue in cheek, but I'm not sure I would have been as passionate about teaching without the stress. #lcpsedchat
A1: I read my devotionals, hang up & actually read positive quotes, and I’ve been getting better over the years at putting family first (reminding myself of my true priorities.) #lcpsedchat
They are the ones who manage a smile or kind word regardless of what they might be going through. They smile a lot and show empathy and compassion, they see the bright side of situations! #lcpsedchat
A2: I’d tell myself to spend less time on curriculum in the first 2 weeks and more on dev. relationships with my students. Pays dividends with classroom harmony and less stress on everyone later during the mid-year doldrums #lcpsedchat
a3: Empathetically listening to others really helps in making collaboration stress-free. I appreciate when meetings have working agreements and norms of collaboration. #lcpsedchat
