Q1. Let’s start at the beginning. When planning for PD, how do you determine which areas of your teaching need improvement? #pechat
  • PhysEdFreak Jun 12 @ 7:12 PM EDT
Not too shabby! I find myself counting down days till #PEinstitute17 instead of days till school is over this year! #pechat

A1 I think constantly reflecting on planning/teaching helps to identify areas that could've been improved upon. #pechat

how do you go about that professional reflection? #pechat
    In reply to @PhysEdFreak
  • rich_wiles Jun 12 @ 7:16 PM EDT
A1. Look at reflection from school year and develop plan for PD for summer and following school year. Use Ss data and SBID data. #pechat
  • physedreview Jun 12 @ 7:17 PM EDT
I guess it's a perceived perception. I also look at our new outcomes to see where I need to do more. #pechat
    In reply to @JoeyFeith
  • PhysEdFreak Jun 12 @ 7:20 PM EDT
In planning, I reflect on lessons to see if outcomes were achieved, if pacing was off, if any aspect of class didn't go as expected.#pechat

    A1 feedback from colleagues/admin + personal self-reflection. #pechat
  • JoeyFeith - Moderator Jun 12 @ 7:22 PM EDT
Hearing a lot about reflection. Not sure if you are familiar w/ @gtdguy’s “Horizons of Focus”. How often do you reflect past Runway #pechat
  • PhysEdFreak Jun 12 @ 7:23 PM EDT
Agreed! Teaching HS for 1st time, I find myself going back to GLOs constantly to see if outcomes were actually achieved #pechat
    In reply to @physedreview, @JoeyFeith

My concern is that, in reflection, we forget to look into areas of our teaching that may need improvement simply out of oversight #pechat
  • MrPicha_PE Jun 12 @ 7:27 PM EDT
I team teach with a colleague as well as have frequent walk-through observations from admin which are discussed afterward #pechat

  • MrPicha_PE Jun 12 @ 7:28 PM EDT
As part of our evaluation process, Ts self-assess based on a number of criteria and discuss w/admin at end of year meeting #pechat

  • JoeyFeith - Moderator Jun 12 @ 7:28 PM EDT
Because of that, I think that using a tool to help guide us through a comprehensive reflection is essential. At least 1x/school year #pechat
