A1 I would like to see PD that has the ability to be moderated for my Ss needs, and just like my Ss I want it to be entertaining, motivating and active. But does PD have to be just for the classroom or can it address topics like advocacy? #ESPEChat
Nothing like some PD that make you think! I do agree with that. Some of the best improvements to my teaching have come after those PDs that challenge my thought process. Sometimes it takes years to understand. #espechat
A2) Continuing to provide resources that are easy for us to use as tools for advocacy on any level. Whether it be the simple form to contact politicians, or letters for administration about funding. #espechat

A1 For most teachers PD is an oxymoron not professional, not development. It also tends to be thought of as a single event then done. Even more so within the #physed teacher experience. I like the term PROFESSIONAL LEARNING; it’s applicable, meaningful & ongoing! #ESPEchat

A4) Administrators need to be educated on #QPE practices. They cannot go out and accept happy-busy-good/roll out the ball/dodgeball type of teachers. It all starts with knowing what a quality #physed program is. #espechat
A2) I think advocacy needs to start coming from higher up organizations directly to our admins. We are constantly fighting the “gym teacher” stereotype ourselves and advocacy on our behalf directly to school districts from @SHAPE_America and would go a long way! #espechat

Yes we have 2 shift the paradigm of the "Sit & Get" concept of PD. One challenge for #physed Ts is: so much of the PD offered in their district does little 2 truly meet their Profess. Engagement needs. Unfortunately, I feel like that's why so few even know about QPE. #espechat

A5 To have the "moral courage" to have that courageous conversation. At times it may be uncomfortable with fellow colleagues or admin but to push the profession forward positively it needs to be done. Respectfully and not attacking manner. #ESPEChat

A6) The ability to attend localized free workshops or conferences, there are over hundreds of them for classroom teachers, and it seems the only ones for PE teachers are state and national conventions which can cost hundreds of dollars to attend, most we pay ourselves. #espechat

I think the best advocacy come from what administrators and colleagues see day in and day out. Always being professional, always challenging the status quo, and implementing ideas in your classroom that are innovative and impactful. It does not happen overnight. #espechat
Q7: I have had the opportunity to attend two National Conventions. Once as an undergrad and once on a grant five years ago. Both experiences were amazing. I learned so much and was refreshed and ready to cont the good fight of #QPE Unfortunately it’s really expensive #ESPEChat

Yes. This really is the concept of having an Instructional Coach or TOSA as they're called out west. Unfortunately, many schools don't have instructional coaches & if you do most aren't comfortable supporting in the #physed/#healthed setting. Another way PE Ts miss out. #espechat

Our students today deal with issues we never dreamed of. Gun violence for example. Schools are change agents in communities. Providing trainings in this content could literally be a lifesaver! #espechat
