I used to drive back and forth from IL to CT so you're right. Whichever one was open, had a clean bathroom and snacks for the kids would get the job done! #MakeItreal
A1-Convenience stores are like great Ts because you can always rely on them. They do just about everything. When you need a pound of sugar and some mayonnaise and the grocery is closed, you can always rely on 7-11. Same with a great teacher. Always there for you. #MakeItReal
A1: The name rhymes. Who doesn't like a great rhyme? In true convenient fashion, they do meet the needs of all of their customers, they're available, & provide a valuable service. #MakeItReal

A2: I tell Teachers that I won't email them after 3 pm as an admin. And they can email me, but I may not answer til the next day. I want to be available to my family too! #MakeItreal
#MakeItReal A2) luckily with cell phones I can always be there to answer emails from students/parents. Wether it is at 11 PM or 6 AM, always trying to be available

A2: Ss know they can email me, contact me via @RemindHQ , or even text me (yearbook Ss and some of my athletes) whenever they need help. They can also get me through Classroom and via comments on shared docs. #makeitreal
A2 Sometimes I am foolishly available 24/7. I try to make myself available to students most any time, but only a couple hours a day for parents.U usually break my own rules. I'm starting to think this years theme may be selfceare so I can work on that positively. #MakeItReal
A2: My parents have my cell number (It can't be traced to my home) I turn it off between 9 pm & 6 am. They are free to text or leave me a message. #MakeItReal
A2: I have struggled with this in the past- but have found that if we give those in which we serve the “roots” and resources - they will develop their “wings”. We mustn’t be a crutch, but instead a boost. #makeitreal

A2) I give my phone number to staff so they can contact me as needed. They are very respectful, but some have contacted me at night, in the early morning, and on weekends, and that's okay. #MakeItReal

Right! The 24/7 7-Eleven is there as a boost when we need late night energy! I don't go there for my daily meals. Be the boost when you can but teach others to find the boost! #MakeItreal
A2: My school LMS has a great feature where students can send me messages or they can email or tweet me and I check it before I leave school and maybe once more but I tell them I might not reply until I get to school the next morning #MakeItReal
And it's a lot like the convenience of Amazon. Just because they "ordered" from the store, doesn't mean it gets delivered right away either. #MakeItreal
A2: I try to be mindful of how my constant connection is impacting my family. They talk, and I listen. If I start to get out of balance, I have to say no to requests and demands, even if it is pressing for somebody else. Family is first. #makeitreal

A2: Build relationships with people so they know a bit more about you and understand what all you have to do after school. And likewise u understand them better and their needs. But somethings u still need to be available 24/7. #MakeItReal
This was a lesson I had to learn. I tried to be whatever anyone needed, when they needed it.- It doesn’t work. It isn’t good for me or them. #makeitreal
Yes! And I have to remember that too when I begin to infringe on my student's families by giving them too much to do or too many expectations after school #MakeItreal

Q2-I make myself available via email to parents and Ss 24/7. Most are quick easy responses like forgotten assignments. It can be tough when you get a parent complaint when your trying to spend time with the family. But in general the positives outweigh the negatives #makeitreal
A2b: I'm available for Ss if I am awake and have cell service. They know that, know I have a family, and generally are good not to abuse my time. In turn, I am there for them until I go to bed. :) #MakeItReal
a3: Twitter chats. Ive participated in 3 today and i am following another one while this one is going on. Tweet Deck is amazing for multi twitter chats. #makeitreal
A3: @Twitter chats were my go to (have fallen off the radar for a bit), @voxer convos are great and anytime I present- I learn from those in the room. And books- mostly non-edu #makeitreal
A3 #MakeItReal I watch old Global Math Dept presentations when I'm in the kitchen or doing something that is easy to stop when I want to stop and replay the session.
A3: Are Twitter chats like #makeitreal considered "snack-sized" PD? In 30 minutes, I can learn new things and be encouraged at the same time. Win, win, WIN!

I wish our kids' teachers were on Twitter. Many tedious, irrelevant assignments that infringe on family time. I only have one shot at hanging out with our kids. They will be 18 before we know it. #makeitreal
His new book "When" - He just spoke about it at #NAESP18 so I was intrigued and bought it on amazon right then. Hope to have some interesting stuff for educators. Just from his presentation, there is so much. #MakeItReal
