Hi Matt! Thanks for joining us!
Q1: When first joining Twitter some may feel hesitant. What was your greatest fear when you started? https://t.co/wkt3j7OMJw
Hello - I'm not afraid to participate in the chat - no fears, no qualms. I am a teacher trainer and academic coordinator in Rio.
Hi Stephan. So glad you could join us!
Thanks Simon, i try to stop by whenever possible.
A1 greatest fear was no one following me or no interaction with my tweets. Didn't like tagging people in posts either.
a1. Perhaps write or said something with mistake 😆
In the beginning, for me, it was all about how many followers I could get! Now it's about the interactions/sharing!
A1: Not getting a lot of followers - then realized Twitter is not about having herds of followers, esp. if you're in edu
Totally agree Stephan! https://t.co/y55QFqDb3R

Yes, chats can be a little daunting at first! Key is to take your time. Plus it's OK to lurk!
So glad you could join us tonight!
Everydboy makes their occasional typo.
A1 Didn’t really have fear as I was used to chatting via internet forums relating to model cars
especially if using your phone to tweet - good old predictive text! :D
lol - I see what yuo did there :D
A1 just keep true followers and have a proper
I made sure I exclusively followed edu people. Got a feel for posts being shared. Began interacting, never looked back.
Agree, quality over quantity!

So glad you could join us Nico. Hope allis well with you!
Q3: Being followed by students is a fear many teachers have about Twitter. What is your advice for them? https://t.co/6k4AnJsgN8
a1 saying something and looking stupid and then it being out there!
You can still answer Q2 of 's chat this evening. Use A2 to indicate that you're replying to Q2. https://t.co/g3yRlnoGpx
Agree, it's OK to lurk but even better to engage!
a2 make it a part of their training or teaching qualification.
A2: You have to get your feet wet - as long as you know what you want to get out of Twitter.
a3 like them as you go so they go into the like list!
Which is why, as we tell our students every day. we should always think before we post!
Be clear about purpose of your account. Work related = edu posts. Personal = set privacy settings accordingly.
This takes time - like any other relationship.
Great advice! https://t.co/GrpwU1Wk1m

A2 Also take advice from others at work - one recommended and they also asked contributors to follow me
's 3rd question is coming up. Please, feel free to join and from all over the world in this chat!
A1 it does but by joining in it lessens the time needed
A3. I have one class profile and in my professional profile I don't follow my Students
Q4: What might be some ways to help Senior Managers understand the value of Twitter for classroom use? https://t.co/vJvSMlqWRF
A3. Lock down your personal account. Have a separate teacher profile for edu chats!
Great advice! https://t.co/8lGnkLYURZ

A3 I think that making arrangements at the beginning is key. I have never had any problems with that (on the contrary!)
Unfortunately, I have to leave this evening's chat.
Thanks, Simon for the wonderful input (again!) and see you!
A3: Im' okay with students following me and following them back - I let them know what they should tweet about - a opp -
Thank YOU! Always value your support!
we have a school Twitter & Facebook, it's great for communicating to parents with info & photos etc
Thank you, again Simon. The only wish I could have is ... an earlier starting-time ... In Belgium, it's 22.37 o'clock ...
A4 My line manager is positive about this & we will be using Twitter groups next academic year
Really appreciate your dedication!

Q5: What do you still need in order to feel like a confident Twitter user/community member? https://t.co/POjmSRMraN
a4 get them on it. Top down approach or to link with slt that are already involved.
a5 followers, retweets etc. The analytics works well.
Agree! https://t.co/oyffp5vbY3
reckon the more we refer to Twitter in cpd/T&L groups/action research or just school in general the more it gets embedded/valued
Q6: What resources are out there that may be useful to help those who are fearful of Twitter see the value? https://t.co/P8cEjA5LZ7
A6: Just start following people like & and you'll start finding ideas and resources
Agree, great tweeps to follow!
A5: it's more simple than you think - check out the Twitter glossary https://t.co/AOZcoSlzdv & watch some YouTube tutorials
I was hoping to get our students at to join today's chat but it didn't quite fit our schedule! Sorry we missed it
Thanks for trying! Sorry you couldn't join us! If it helps, I will the chat!
