#fcpslearn is a weekly chat about teaching and learning. Our focus is on creativity, innovation and inspiration. We discuss a range of educational topics that range from technology integration to the Olympics.
A1) Don't know too much about it, but Augmented reality imposes things (shapes, lines, images) into a background that is really there. Like, I can make it look like there is a donut next to my cup of coffee. Virtual reality creates a whole other world. #fcpslearn
A1: Virtual Reality immerses one in a completely digital and artificial environment. Augmented reality overlays virtual objects on the real-world environment. #fcpslearn
A2: AR and VR are great for enhancing Ss and staff experiences. For example, Google Expeditions and Tour Creator can take SS around the world to learn.
#fcpslearn
A2: I see a lot of potential in VR for virtual history field trips. @ScottLewisITC showed me a VR experience for the Hajj to Mecca and since then I’ve played with other famous sites. this could really enhance a students learning of concepts we discuss in class. #fcpslearn
A2: Take people to different places. I've had students visit parks that help students see images of Native American Culture, look inside empty factories so they could imagine them filled with war manufacturing products of WWI. Endless opportunities! #fcpslearn
A2
Take Ss to explore far away places where their loved ones live to stay connected, informed & simply excited to be exploring real-world experiences
#fcpslearn
In the WL classroom, I use VR for virtual field trips with #GoogleExpeditions. I also use Cardboard Camera and have the ads create VR photo stories. We have also created 360 @YouTube videos of town tours. So many possibilities!!! #fcpslearn
Do you know if math teachers in your school are using @nearpod? I know our school has it (licenses it?) but I have not heard math teachers talk about it. #fcpslearn

I believe so. We have school licenses and have been pushing it. @MathWithMsHawes and @ToddRisser are two math teachers at our school who are active on Twitter and may be able to speak more to how their department uses it. #fcpslearn

A1: I would describe AR using the platforms that my students (and twitter PLN) are mostly into- #booksnaps & #snapchat use! VR would be where I am a part of the world myself that I am viewing! #FCPSLearn
A3: if we had unlimited resources I wish we had more VR glasses. Currently we have I think one class set that a teacher has in foreign language but no others. It would be nice to have more available for check out #fcpslearn
#fcpslearn A3: At this point, I would like to get the most out of the Chromebooks we have. Though the things you all are posting look pretty interesting!
Sorry I’m late! Jaime from Chattanooga! Spanish teacher and language learning advocate for Ss to show leadership it’s an integral future ready skill.#fcpslearn
A3: Love this question! I would purchase additional Google Cardboard Viewers (already have a class set), devices so Ss have them to use with the viewers, 360 cameras so we can record better quality 360 videos, and a router so we can get better connection for VR Tours. #fcpslearn
A2: I would 💚 to use VR with my #ELL students to tour their home country! I would use it as a means to compare and contrast the current units we're learning with regards to geography and architecture! #FCPSLearn
A4: Ss could use creativity to design entire experiences or worlds in AR/VR. The key would be for Ts to trust Ss as they dive into these new avenues for showcasing their learning.
#fcpslearn
A4 @3DBearOfficial has many assets to redesign your class/school and you can get more assets from @thingiverse if you need them. They play well together #fcpslearn
Q4: just the other day I heard you can actually build your own VR experiences. It would be AMAZING if we could get to the point where Ss built their own VR experiences moving from seeing history to actually making it #fcpslearn
A1: Thanks to the book (and movie) Ready. Player. One, I can more easily distinguish between the two for those not up@in technology...one is immersive while the other is like cosplay? #fcpslearn
A4: Have students create and lead their own Google Expeditions; create VR stories and videos in the target language for an immersive experience; create scavenger hunts and Amazing Race activities using Google Street View and Cardboard Viewers, use Storyspheres. #fcpslearn
A2: I could only imagine giving my students a Chance to explore Cuba with me, as I’ve seen it. Or Spain and the streets of Granada.... Id straight up use it for trips and experiences ‘outside’ of the classroom. #fcpslearn
A3: I would by a class set of the most recent tech for VR and have a room set aside just for the use of it so students could be in a more relaxed environment or even move. #fcpslearn
A5 I would get the book Learning Transported by @JaimeDonally sight up for ARVRinEdu website and newsletter Great info on the best in AR/VR resources for Edu #fcpslearn
A5: NYT VR was a great app given to me with some great already made VR experiences to start with. You have to download them but they were all very cool and had a lot of ancient world history sites. #fcpslearn
