Hello #saskedchat! I am Sydney and second year elementary ed student at the university of Regina and a way I like to recharge is closing the books and getting a long sleep at the end of the day!
A1: throughout the year I make sure I have one day a week were I have nothing work or school related. This way I can do something for me and not feel overwhelmed #saskedchat
#saskedchat Hi, my name is Danny, I am an intern @Empire_mj just about to start my 3-week block! My favourite way to recharge my inner self is to write!
Hey #saskedchat! My name is Lauren Sauser and I am a second year elementary education student at the @UofRegina! My favourite way to recharge is to bake and decorate something!
Ian - principaling on the pacific - loving chats like #saskedchat to give me midweek boosts. Walks and books also good resets - and even a bad movie can be good if it’s the right one!
A1: I have been trying to get into having a morning and night routine to help me "wake up" and "shut down" each and every day. Making time to go out for some ice cream breaks with @MsSydneyMcGrath sure helps too! #saskedchat
A1: I try to stay in routines with regards to my school work. Keeping up and not falling behind in school allows me to stay recharged and relaxed throughout the semester! #saskedchat
A1: I try to take time each day to have a little "me time". This could involve going for a walk, hitting the gym, or simply lounging for a bit! #saskedchat
A1: Although it hasn't been a full year for me, one of my daily routines involves waking up at 4:30 and just relaxing for a bit in the dark when the world is still asleep. I get some much needed alone time which is in short supply in the classroom. #saskedchat
I agree! I am definitely a schedule person and I like to have things laid out and make a plan so I don't get too overwhelmed down the road! #saskedchat
A1 - As a teacher, I found that there were ebbs and flows to the year - times when it was high energy & times when things were more relaxed. It’s important to manage one’s energy to meet the demands of what is happening. #saskedchat
Routines are so helpful... when I can get the big ideas mapped out for the week ahead on a Friday, I feel much calmer throughout the weekend. Harder to do at key points in the year (like September) but works most of the time! #saskedchat
A1 I try to make my @Apple Watch goals each day...and my daily blog helps me reflect (each day of learning - I don’t recommend it [as a bit of a dare]) at https://t.co/F9aL6xnx4d#saskedchat
A1: Ensuring I take one day off on the weekend for "me time." Not always possible during busy times of the year, but finding balance is something I am working on! #saskedchat
Very true. I'm trying to make a concentrated effort to respect those relaxed times more -- it's easy to feel like every moment needs to be an ON moment with teaching (there's always something!), but it's important to center yourself all the same. #saskedchat
Throughout my degree, I made the mistake of never having a schedule and just dealing with things as they came along. Definitely wish I would have had a schedule made for myself to stay on top of things. #saskedchat
IA 1 i like schedules and routine but find myself flopping and floundering in that the last 2 semesters due to circumstances beyond my control. #saskedchat
Love this time of year! Enjoy the block, Pam... it's such an incredible experience! Love working with pre-interns and getting to celebrate March together. #saskedchat
Great idea to get it done on Friday! I usually save my weekly planning for Sunday - sometimes this can lead to starting the week tired, though. Trying to change that! #saskedchat
A2: I find that when I really get down I need to take a step back and analyze what I've really got going on and ask myself what I need to do to get back on track! Sometimes it's some time off and sometimes some self-discipline! #saskedchat
Something like this...? Though my blog shows a trend of day 113 being toughest (that’s Tuesday) emotional for the entire learning community... #saskedchat (blog about that coming tomorrow....and Tuesday....
A1. Going to be gym gives me energy. Each day before work it’s the best wait to start the day even though getting up so early stinks. The older I get the more I like coffee too! #saskedchat
A2 - Morning & evening habits & routines are important to beginning and ending the day prepared for what is to come. Research has shown they are important for managing stress and anxiety - #saskedchat
A2: Again this goes back to have my schedules planned and written in front of me to be able to see what is expected of me for that specific day! #saskedchat
Just sitting at hockey practice! Jump in for a bit, trying to recharge before my preinternship coming up! I personally am all about schedules and taking time everyday to do something for me, watch the news, cook in my kitchen with tunes, etc. #saskedchat
A2: for me, it's all about prioritizing. Sometimes I get so many things going on that I get overwhelmed and I need to step back and figure out what I need to focus on and what can wait! This isn't always easy, but it's a must for me! #saskedchat
A2 I always start my week with my calendar up to date and my to do list started. Each Monday my students and I start the week with gratitude. #saskedchat
A2 making sure lunches are packed the night before, having all my supplies packed and ready to go out the door. Making checklists. A calendar that has everything for everyone including school due dates is a must. #saskedchat
A2: I am currently trying to work on developing better bedtime routines. Morning it's pretty standard: Get up, watch some @TEDTalks or another interesting video, and enjoy my only cup of coffee for the day! #saskedchat
I’m huge on post it notes always being on my desk from most important to quick and easy things such as clean the kitchen or simply printing things out to keep me motivated during the week #saskedchat
Great image. This has a great deal to do with feelings of self-efficacy and the role that belief and motivation have especially in the lives of beginning teachers - supportive mentors/coaches are so important! #saskedchat
A2: Goal setting, reflecting, (and napping), repeat! Always make time to refocus my direction throughout the school year - sometimes on a weekly basis even, especially during challenging times. #saskedchat
This is one of the most challenging aspects of teaching, and something that nearly took me out by year three. Especially at the beginning, it's hard not to see all of things that you *could* (feels like should) be doing. It's a marathon... -> #saskedchat
Oh that sounds fun! I used to play guitar when I was in grade 5 but I didn’t practice much and have since lost almost all muscle memory. I’ve recently started teaching myself piano because I highly enjoy piano music for relaxation. #saskedchat
I also find this to be a super useful way to make sure my priorities are straight for the week! I also love the addition of starting the week with gratitude! #saskedchat
This simple routine of goal setting, reflecting and repeat is perfect! It doesn't always have to look the same but the basic idea is the same! #saskedchat
I’ll admit to often burning both ends of the candle. Never needed much sleep... #saskedchat but know for long term health, bed before 11 is probably better for me....
...try to break those lists into what's most important (for that week, that month and for the year as a whole) and give yourself permission to really invest in those key pieces. The bulletin board (ugh) can stay for 3 months if you're investing that time into lit PD. #saskedchat
I only have to worry about my lunch now but I still prepare my lunches for the whole week on Sunday. Makes my week go a lot smoother and I eat better. #saskedchat
I so wish I could be that morning person! I love the idea of enjoying a TED talk as well. I always am taking my cup of coffee to go to do whatever in the morning but love sitting down for one on the weekend definitely something to consider #saskedchat
It is about pacing but I think it’s more than a marathon - it’s a lifestyle, a way of living that we don’t discuss as teachers. During the year there are sprints and times we just walk - each day is different and each stage requires changes #saskedchat

A3: I'll be back to work with my kids on Monday so I am happy to take any advice anyone has! I have been thinking about just giving them time to unpack what they have done this past week? #saskedchat
So important! In previous years I struggled with the mentality of "I am not a good teacher if I don't get all of this done ASAP" - I have switched that thinking to "what needs to be done today & what can wait until tomorrow" #priorities#saskedchat
Yes! 100%. What's the big idea... what REALLY matters? So true about the challenging times. I have a little "boosters" folder for those moments. #saskedchat
A3: This is unchartered territory for me! But I will get a shot at in Monday! I think it's ideal to go over procedures and expectations, and take things a little slower the first day back. Give students a chance to get back into the swing of things! #saskedchat
A3: I have yet to be in the classroom so I am excited what ways everyone will provide! I think a great way that could work is open them back into the routine by doing activities and subjects that they show strong interest in! #saskedchat
Yeah - we do meal plans for the week and prep on Saturday - whatever you decide, it’s about routine and habits, conscious choices and developing supports to help everyone involved. #saskedchat
I have always wondered how teachers in the U.S. schools prioritize self-care when they have traumatized students (shoot shootings, students dealing with immigration issues, family challenges, etc) #saskedchat
A3: This is uncharted territory for me! I think the best things to do for students is to take things a little slower the first day or two back, and go over the expectations of the classroom. #saskedchat (Also can @Twitter get an edit button)?
A3: I am not in the classroom yet, but I think that a great approach would be for students to reflect upon what they did on the break, therefore bridging that gap between the break and school! #saskedchat
I totally agree! I take easily 20 minutes Sunday night before I go to bed to look at the next week and plan out what my week looks like. I find that it helps deal with anything that just “pops up” #saskedchat
I have worked on that this year - been doing better. We need to respect our natural day cycles - too bad school schedules didn’t respect them! #saskedchat
In reply to
@cassidy_oesch, @DannyStJacques, @TEDTalks
A2 regular reading helps & gets me ideas to try out - I always try something different each year (some will tease & say each day...) I really enjoyed experimenting with the “Finnish schedule” last year: 45 work 15 play really helped a group that didn’t transition well #saskedchat
I love that idea of letting them talk about! They are going to be so excited Monday morning to tell their friends why try to battle it when you can embrace it! I also think some mindfulness exercises to get them back into school mode may be cool #saskedchat
I find it helps me learn new things which has become a huge part of who I am. I am always looking for more knowledge and new ways to grow. #saskedchat. It would be cool to start having small twitter tedtalks clubs where we share our favourite ted talks and talk about them.
A3: Really looking forward to seeing my students Monday! We will start off by sitting in circle together, smudging, and sharing about our breaks. Usually spend an entire period just chatting. Relationships are #1 priority in our room. #saskedchat
A3 I’ll push on this one and challenge some to explore “deep play” - gotta get past 45 minutes with no clearly defined “end time” (like a bell) and first time especially, minutes 30-45 feel like “time to stop” #saskedchathttps://t.co/qPmhhVuDBn
A3: We will also be revisiting my job/your job (classroom expectations) and their goal setting for the semester! Never hurts to remind students of what is expected - especially after having a week off! #saskedchat
A4: It is so important to allow students and teachers to have time to recharge themselves other wise they will eventually get burned out and not able to perform to their fullest potential! #saskedchat
Monday’s are tough enough for some. Long weekends suck for others. This is the first year in quite a few that my son isn’t “suddenly sick” Sunday nights (or whenever the snow days or holidays end) #saskedchat
A4: This question made me think of a fire. If teachers and students don't take time to add a log or two to their own fire every now and then, they will burn out. #saskedchat
A4: Burnout is REAL! It affects students and teachers alike and it is a real downer! There is nothing worse than feeling unaccomplished, unmotivated, and exhausted! #saskedchat
A4: Self care is so important! As teachers, we need to take care of ourselves first before we can take care of our students! This reminds me of the old saying "you can pour from an empty bucket" #saskedchat
A1 Deep & fun conversations with colleagues to glean new perspectives are always refreshing, invigorating and rewarding! Finding FUN in the day-to-day is KEY. #saskedchat#relationships#culture
Great idea! I always found as a student Monday morning we’d be talking more then the teacher about irrelevant weekend stuff while they are trying to get our attention... make it relationship building time! LOVE!! #saskedchat
As a family, we do “best things” during our evening family time. I use to start every Monday with my students with the same thing and staff meetings began with teachers sharing their best things with students. #saskedchat
This is a wonderful idea! Also a great idea to incorporate traditional Indigenous story telling into the classroom! So nice to see thanks for sharing! #saskedchat
It is! We start every day in circle - it's a safe space for students to check in and it helps us start the day off in a good way with each other. #saskedchat
A3. Welcome them back. Share experiences and review where we have been and where we are going in our learning. Reconnect with relationships. #saskedchat
Looking back, I could have used some help from school admin to prioritize whats on my to-do list. Life can be overwhelming for beginning teachers. Admin could: have conversations with the novice teachers & clearly articulate what's most important—revisit this often! #saskedchat

A4 i think it’s good to model that everyone has rough days and just because the bell schedules say writing is great at 10:00 sometimes the muse is sleeping late.... flexible schedules and mindsets can be helpful! #saskedchat
A4 if we are recharged as Ts and Ss we think clearer, we can handle challenges better and less emotionally. Tiredness, stress etc makes everything worse, when we are fresh we just handle life better. #saskedchat
I think that is super important! Having a support team to help you prioritize, and manage your life is not a bad thing, but really an amazing thing! #saskedchat

A4. Everyone needs a break. Teachers, kids, and families included. That’s why I’m a believer in breaks being homework free.....Not a time for busy work and Big projects. Respect family time. #saskedchat
Yay! So glad @debbiemah is in tonight’s #saskedchat - she is a fabulous education thinker on this side of the Rockies - flatlanders should bring her out your way for some consultations and presentations!
I totally agree with your perspective here! Doing absolutely anything when you are tired and stressed is miserable. Add those feelings to a classroom and that's just a recipe for trouble! #saskedchat
A4: If we are not at our best (personally), we cannot be fully present in the classroom. Same goes for our students - we can't expect them to be at their best without opportunities to recharge. "Can't pour from an empty cup" - applies to both teachers & students #saskedchat
I just did a project on balance as a teacher and burnout is so common! I think it’s important to step back and evaluate if you need time. I love this quote and I think because we wanna do everything we forget we can’t. #saskedchat
Quality over quantity. And the conditions for learning need to be met before learning can happen. One mentors advice: spend September making relationships - the gains you’ll make with learning Oct —> June will always be worth it

Absolutely!!!! This is so important. Students need time to be kids. I really wish more schools took this type of thing to heart. Childhood is over way too soon for many of our students. #saskedchat
Agreed James. This is essential I do think we have an equal responsibility here for our new teachers. They're all "ours" whether we have an admin hat or not. Teachers in years 1-5 are vulnerable... we have a shared responsibility to build them up. #saskedchat

A4: Sometimes, we need to stop chasing after the magic we think is out front. Once in a while, if we stop, refresh and breathe, we find that the magic will catch up to us.
#saskedchathttps://t.co/t1XOCVxPiT
I’m sorry to hear that! I’m glad that you could find help and continue battling, it really is difficult and I find myself even as a student struggle with the idea of not being able to do everything #saskedchat
A5: having personal class convos to catch up from day to day is important. It gets our mouths moving and our minds a break from class work! Its important to build and grow your teacher and student relationship. #saskedchat
A5: As I have little experience in the classroom thus far in my schooling I am excited to read what everyone else has to say about this question! #saskedchat
A5: Although I am not in the classroom, I would love to hear what those with more experience have to share! This will be helpful to note for the future! #saskedchat
Schools tend to be very schedule driven - curriculum, lessons, classes, bells, eat now, drink now, go to the bathroom later. It’s a very scheduled time for everyone. Students & teachers need a break from that. #saskedchat

It works too. Really. I knew of a kindergarten classroom that was self managing because of this. Then the system broke it. Class never fully recovered. #saskedchat
So true - I've been there! When I am run down my students can tell - I try to keep that in mind when I am starting to push my limits. Not only is my health and wellbeing affected, but my students are impacted. A good reminder to take time to recharge. #saskedchat
Yay! So glad @debbiemah is in tonight’s #saskedchat - she is a fabulous education thinker on this side of the Rockies - flatlanders should bring her out your way for some consultations and presentations!
A5: Brain breaks, movement breaks, (any breaks). I find myself struggling to focus for more than 10 minutes, I can't imagine what Ss feel when they are asked to do so for an hour. Having breaks during instruction makes it fun, and keep the Ss engaged. #saskedchat
A4: An opportunity to recharge is vital. Breaks allow all of us to reflect and for some blow off some steam. A rested mind allows for more creativity for all. #saskedchat
Earlier I mentioned: 45 work 15 play repeat.... the fins definitely have a great concept for this - great way to tackle the 1pm poor choices that @DanielPink points out in his book about times of day: When

Very true! Allowing the students to have say in what and when they would like to do things could be very beneficial to their overall learning and wellbeing! #saskedchat

I find that I myself am the same way! When studying, I always need to stand up and go for a walk or get some fresh air to recharge and refocus! #saskedchat
I like that strategy. It is always great when students should have a clear understanding of what is expected of them in terms of behaviour, academic work, etc. This could be explained at the beginning of the year, and revisited as often as necessary #saskedchat
A5 - I found that having an abbreviated schedule the first day really helped - a little relaxed with time to read, share, talk - get back into the routine of the classroom. #saskedchat
A4: I try to be very honest and real with my students. If I am struggling, I share that with them. I also try to model healthy strategies for self-care. We are on this journey TOGETHER. #saskedchat
A5 I noticed in one lesson I was teaching that I was horribly bored so my goal is not to talk so long and allow the Ss to do the activity for longer, and make sure the activity involves some movement or interaction #saskedchat
I was so happy to hear some other teachers bitching (word used mindfully...wait for it) about the awful sound that is our bell. The pitchiness isn’t helping moods or moves! Debate now: no bell or different sound (maybe different opening riffs to great songs?!) #saskedchat

We have our my job/your job displayed in our classroom - we revisit it (sometimes daily in middle years) as necessary! Kids hold themselves and each other accountable - it's effective! #saskedchat

A4 Absolutely important...to discuss the whole notion of health life balance as part of the learning process as opposed to a separate entity. This process applies to every aspect of all our lives. #SEL is key #saskedchat
I asked @pasi_sahlberg and he confirmed - “yes”. All grades work on this mindset. Again, I was pleasantly surprised how this routine helped a group of students that struggled so much with transitions before I added...more transitions... #saskedchat

A6: For me it really comes down to a couple of simple things! Prioritizing and taking care of my physical health like making sure I am eating enough nutritious food, getting exercise, and sleep are necessary for me! #saskedchat
Highschool was a bit different than middle years but I found that breaking the classes into manageable sequences really work - 10 min, 30 min, 10 min worked for me. And drink water, lots of water! #saskedchat
A6: For me, it is all about the people that I surround myself with! Being around the people I love and those who support me gives me that boost I need! #saskedchat
A6: I try to read a lot more. Always have a few books on the go, and I find it hard to get much reading done while school is in session. I do read 15-30 minutes at night, but I also enjoy bingeing books, and having a break lets me do that. #saskedchat
A6: For me I really like to have time to spend with my family and friends. I also like to try learning new things (cooking for example) and getting in my daily exercise! #saskedchat
No bell. We went to no bell between periods. We had bells for morning, recess, noon, and dismissal. Got rid of the rest of the bells. K - 12 school Worked great. #saskedchat

A6 between classes, I have a jigsaw puzzle app on my phone so I will do a bit on a puzzle or play a mindless game. this week I have spent a lot of the week reading fun books and crocheting for my grandson due in May. I have assignments due next week but oh well. #saskedchat
A5: We do daily goal setting - as soon as they enter the classroom in the AM they set a personal goal for the day. Opportunities for reflection on their progress throughout the day. They revisit their goals at the end of the day and reflect on growth! My kids love it. #saskedchat
In my preinternship classroom the kids love random movements as well especially when I’m willing to do it with them. During math activities I’ll notice the dreadful faces so we drop and do 10 push-ups or we hit the wall for a minute of wall sits. They love to pick #saskedchat
I am the same when it comes to binge reading! I need to restrict my reading to the break because when i get into a book i can't put it down! #saskedchat
It’s why my son got permission for “early dismissal” so he could be outside when the treble heavy bell went off. If I ever design a school, @beatsbydre@MonsterProducts will be consulted for speakers #saskedchat

A5: We spend the last few minutes of the day discussing things we are grateful for - students share one positive thing they enjoyed/are thankful for from the day. A moment to reflect and end the day focusing on the positives! #saskedchat
A6...as cliche as it sounds, I indulge in leadership and philosophical readings. Reaffirming and strengthening beliefs can provide us with amazing energy & guidance to do what is right...#saskedchat
Reminds me of a line from a textbook about how so many University Ss don’t read for fun because they read too many textbooks and associate reading with work. #saskedchat It was perhaps the most enjoyable line I’ve ever read in a textbook because of the irony.
I actually just had a huge revelation watching a video I recorded that I got SOOOO BORED like 15 minutes in and I was like I need to vouch not to do that to my own students because they’ll get bored as well! Self reflection at its finest 😂 #saskedchat
A5 #saskedchat Something that I'm thankful for is to have a large space that accommodates several different areas. There are lots of opportunities for movement - to the math corner, to the word wall meeting area, etc. - and plenty of areas for students to choose a working space.
A6 spoilers!! Sunday nights #bcedchat is about a mental wellness/self regulation check in (I’m modding so I’m also promoting) and our own self care matters. Media. Activity. Scottie’s....it can all be good (just don’t over indulge on cinnamon buns!) #saskedchat
A6: These days it’s the quality time with family that recharges me. Lots of reading of Eric Carle over and over again and movies with my husband. Laughter with family and friends. This is how I recharge and this is what ignited my creativity. #saskedchat
Great point. Positive relationships are at the core of the teaching profession. The conversations also helps students to listen and communicate well, and to see teachers as an 'ordinary' person! #saskedchat
Exactly and they are in high school so if you don’t wanna do it I let them take a lap in the classroom! Just cause they are “young adults” doesn’t mean they don’t want a break every once and awhile! #saskedchat
A6: These days it’s the quality time with family that recharges me. Lots of reading Eric Carle over and over again, movies with my husband, and laughter with family and friends. This is how I recharge and this is what ignites my creativity. #saskedchat
A7: Plans, ideas, timing, and priorities change so often that if I'm not going back and reevaluating, I won't be able to move forward in a productive way! #saskedchat
I love this idea! I try to write down three things I am grateful for before bed, but having Ss reflect on their day/life and find 3 things they are grateful is such a mindful task that will bring positive vibes into the classroom! #saskedchat I am definitely going to use this.
A7: It is important to renew goals, and objectives through the year because as the year progresses you learn more about your students individual learning needs and the classroom dynamics as well! #saskedchat
A7: It is important to renew your goals/plans/objectives throughout the year because things change! Whether it be the circumstances changing, the people changing, etc. The need for reevaluation cannot be ignored! #saskedchat
The reminder for new teachers can be helpful. Throughout the past year, I have felt that "drowning in responsibilities" feeling multiples times and the reminder from fellow colleagues to take a break was helpful to say the least. #saskedchat
In reply to

We kind of build lessons up at the beginning to feel like performances. It's hard, esp as a pre/intern - you feel like you have to show what you can do! But there's a reason workshop models follow a 10/40/10 model. Let those kiddos lead! #saskedchat
A7: As the school year goes on things change, you change, and you learn more about your students. If you do not renew your goals and plans throughout the year, you are making more work for yourself in the long run and going against the grain. #saskedchat
A7 goals should be living documents (in my opinion) I even out mine out publically and often forget to update them on my blog site: https://t.co/PONNeiYUzu#saskedchat
A7: Things change so often in life that plans, goals and objectives must also change. Reevaluation is needed throughout the year to match students' needs. #saskedchat
A7 reviewing, adapting and changing as the year goes means that you are learning what your Ss need, what is working and what isn't and that you are growing as T.
#saskedchat
It is one of my favourite parts of the day! It also provides opportunities for students to recognize their strengths and feel proud of themselves for learning something new, achieving their goal, etc. #saskedchat
A7: Just yesterday, I made a huge list of goals for myself. (The list had 20 or so entries). By renewing our goals, or objectives, we embody them. I read somewhere (Sorry no source), that a successful strategy to attaining goals is to write them down daily. #saskedchat
A7 it’s because of reviewing your goals and blog that I have started weekly YouTube shares Technolandys Three Thinks in EDucation (T3D) https://t.co/tTdwJ15Fuu#saskedchat
It is something I hope to try doing. It is also important to revisit goals. I cannot tell you how many times I have set unattainable goals for myself. #saskedchat
Having staff see documents like plans and units as living documents to be altered and changed can reduce the stress of ‘getting it right’ - things change, it’s good, let’s reflect that in what happens in schools. #saskedchat
A7 - Our lives change and things happen and adjusting our goals and plans needs to reflect this - sharing this with students and staff is important - heck, weekend plans change why can’t what we do in schools #saskedchat
After #edtc300, I have been a huge fan of learning projects. However the more I learn the more I want to know so sometimes I go a little crazy on my goals. #saskedchat
A8: I think this requires a bit of work at the start of the year too! I like to make my goals, plans, etc. apparent to myself at the beginning of the year and schedule times to reevaluate! This helps me focus on moving forward in a realistic yet still fulfilling way! #saskedchat
Same! A lot of the pressure I have felt as a new teachers has come from the unrealistic expectations I have set for myself. Trying to live up to a false reality of what "good teaching" must look like and pushing myself beyond exhaustion to try to "achieve" this #saskedchat

Absolutely - I have found that giving Ts permission to alter & sometimes scrap plans is important for their self-efficacy and professional improvement. If it’s not working, let’s work together to see what can be done. #saskedchat
A7: My plans for recharging during a break always depends on my level of exhaustion upon entering the break. Usually includes sleeping, Netflix, and reorganizing my life! #saskedchat
A8: It all depends on the time of year. In warmer months, I just love being outside: whether it be relaxing in my hammock, going on nature walks, or sitting outside enjoying the sound and smell of rain. (By far my favourite). #saskedchat 1/2
You want to be in my classroom? :) I'll take that as a complement. I'm a theorist. I know what I want. I know how to get there. Yet ....often derailed. (yes, I resemble the remark: worst enemy.) #saskedchat

A8: Some strategies I use to renew/refocus throughout the school year is taking time to for myself on breaks and going home one weekends to spend time with my loved ones! #saskedchat
A8: It's really important for me to do "self checks" and reflect on how I am doing/feeling. I often catch myself going overboard or stressing out so by taking the time to step back I can maintain that balance I need! #saskedchat
In the winter months, I like to cozy up somewhere with a book and some team, and just read. And of course, pets are a year-round way of recharging. #saskedchat
A8 #saskedchat I teach in a school with a collab room, so all K-3 teachers have a meeting space w/ our desks. We've started doing casual, biweekly meetings that focus on where we're doing and sharing ideas. I love them -- and love my team. It goes a long way!
Aren’t we all? So many of us suffer from Peripheral Paralysis - we see what others are doing out of the corner of our eye and think we aren’t doing enough so we try to do it all instead of focusing on our own journey. #saskedchat

Mr. Paul McKay, Principal at Bruderheim School in Alberta, believes in the importance of students have breaks, including more recess time. His policy works #saskedchathttps://t.co/9Q8asht30h
