I do a lot more like that for repeat offenders. I agree that the laughter is better then yelling or punishments. I always tell them better I catch you than someone else with malicious intent. #MOedchat

I work with 5th graders every week that are shocked when I call them out for sticking their password on a post-it inside their Chromebook. I don't know how we can allow things like this! #moedchat

I'm often guilty of not reading them all 100%, but I usually try to skim them. #MOedchat#DigCit

Those are written to be too tough to read. I do read most of them, but it takes too much time. the permissions that an app asks though, need to be read. #MOedchat

A2: When I was a kid, I just knew to not try and cross the river. Now, students need to be educated on plagiarism, netiquette, social media, identity theft, passwords... the list goes on. Being a student now is rough. #moedchat
A2: There's so much to it now. I think one part that's emerging is the idea of healthy consumption habits. It's not just about what we do on the devices and what we post, but also how often we do it and this idea of monitoring our time online. #MOedChat

A2 Most people I work with think digcit is Cyberbullying and Copyright. Anything else goes in one ear and out their other. Those things are important, but not exhaustive. #moedchat
Now, to be fair, I do show their usernames on the projector for the littles as a method to help them remember them. Older kids though I write it down and then they throw it away once they leave. #MOedchat
A2: Another big shift is that I think we have to address #MediaLiteracy if we are going to claim to teach #DigCit at any level. They go hand in hand. #MOedChat

A2: More of the off campus online misbehavior bleeds into the school. Access and interaction is now instantaneous. Disruptions from social media shake up the culture of a school. #moedchat
A2 IMO we now focus more on social media and protecting ourselves from a variety of predators. There is more of a focus on the story we are telling. We also have to focus more on teaching students how to root out the reliable sources. #moedchat

A bit late. A2 Digital citizenship has progressed beyond making sure Ss were on the correct site. With 1:1 Chromebooks, it is a 24/7 concern. #MOedchat
On a further note, this is why I painfully spend the first 2-4 months with K students practicing signing in. No shortcuts or QR codes, just typing their usernames and passwords. It is a necessary skill #MOedchat
A2: I agree about click wraps and TOS and PP. Kids (and teachers) need a bigger understanding about what you're really doing when you just "check yes" on the box! #MOedChat
I really hate that we are going to QR codes with students. I feel like it's just giving in to not teaching them these IMPORTANT LIFE SKILLS because it's "kinda hard" for a few weeks. It's REGRESSIVE. #moedchat

A4 Use it in a proactive way with parents. I always like the approach of starting classroom Facebook groups and sharing with parents -- show them positive interactions in digital spaces. #moedchat

Give them opportunities and then allow them the chance to be a kid and mess up. Remember, we often learn more from our mistakes so why shouldn't students be allowed that same courtesy. #MOedchat#DigCit
Here's something I struggle with, as far as elementary goes, how do you model it to those kids? Most don't have access to it, so we talk about good use, but can't let them experience it? Just use e-mail as the example? #moedchat

We are the "in-between" generation trying to figure out how to help our elders be safe and our youngin's be safe from two different experiences (if that makes any sense at all, it's been a long week, I turned 34 a couple days ago, so I'm old now) #moedchat

Have you considered class accounts where the students run the accounts for the day as a class job? I've done it and I know @TopDogTeaching is a pro at it too! You've gotta try it. But be sure to go over proper procedures and protocols. #MOedchat#DigCit

Oh yeah, I'd totally have them find ways to practice. But I always made sure the parents were given LOTS of instruction as to what we were doing so they didn't come back and act all scared. Letting students practice #DigCit in a safe place is crucial! #MOedchat
