Q1: I ask students “What time was it that a majority of the world’s population was in 2019?” What other TIME questions about the New Year have sparked great discussion in your classes? #MakeItReal
Q1: I ask students “What time was it that a majority of the world’s population was in 2019?” What other TIME questions about the New Year have sparked great discussion in your classes? #MakeItReal
A1: Great question! Haven't dug into this, but I would imagine asking questions related to various time zones (we connected with @kcasw1 class in Queensland) and how they celebrated "earlier" than we did. #MakeItReal
It really makes you consider a lot of factors, like who lives where, why they live there, and what it means to celebrate something that's not concrete #MakeItReal
A1: We go back tomorrow. Time is very relative in the life of a preschooler. We'll have a BIG discussion about how it got to be 2019, what that means, and how many days we've been in school so far. #makeitreal
A1 Good question. Never really thought about it beyond doing some intention setting with students—we don’t go back until Monday so I will probably “borrow” some ideas #MakeItReal
Q1: I ask students “What time was it that a majority of the world’s population was in 2019?” What other TIME questions about the New Year have sparked great discussion in your classes? #MakeItReal
I have a Kinder at home and time is still relative! To her, everything in the past happened "yesterday." I bet you have some great talks about time. #MakeItReal
A1: I haven't used this in a concrete way with students yet. I love it as a time for reflection, though. I also love how my state lives in two time zones and we all drive each other nuts when planning anything. #MakeItReal
A1. Walked into a current events classroom and witnessed a great discussion/debate about "baby it's cold outside" song. Is it timeless classic or an out of date, should be banned song?
Great to hear kids various viewpoints
#MakeItReal
A1: As I talked with kids in the cafe today I asked them: "How do you want to spend your time better in 2019?" Besides playing more Fortnite there were some pretty interesting answers! #makeitreal
A1: We make time for reflection throughout the year—both during units of inquiry AND at the end. Reflection is a key part of the inquiry cycle—yet it is way too often overlooked. #makeitreal
A2: IT means forward thinking. We can't be stuck in the moment. As a leader, I have to look forward and predict where we need to be and where I need to lead the masses. #makeitreal
A2: For me , it goes to my #oneword, which is always PREFLECT. I made it up, and it means to pretend you're later on, looking back. What do you see? Now, make it happen!! wrote about it here https://t.co/83ZuTp1IPo#MakeItReal
A2: I've got BIG plans for 2019 & 2020! Thinking forward into the future requires a special lens - thinking past obstacles into what is possible. #MakeItReal
A2: I think about how the "ripples" will impact others that are around me. We do not operate in isolation. All of our actions have the potential to have positive and negative effects. #makeitreal
A2: Reflecting and using that reflection as a learning opportunity allows us to have clearer foresight as we go after our vision and mission. #makeitreal
A2. 2020 Vision means preparation for the unknown. Teaching how to fail marvelously and get right back up is a timeless skill! Teach how to learn and think and never give up! 2020 Vision
#MakeItReal
A2 Keeping eyes on the road ahead—not dwelling in the rear view mirror. Continuing to grow my practice & making stronger connections with my PLFamily. Learning from others & also sharing my story/journey. Living the “why” of “Empowering others through positivity”💯 #MakeItReal
I'd love to talk to you sometime about your big plans. I've got some pretty big plans too! I hope we can be there to support each other along the way! #MakeItReal
A3: Chatted with some of my Ss about creating a #oneword2019 like we did last year for 2018. Decided to make it optional this year. Excited to see what they come up with! #MakeItReal
They may like my slogan post! It's often easier for them to connect with a company ideal than their own, but they can then discover more about themselves through it! https://t.co/cTHmyxLBLA#MakeItReal
Love this! Can't tell you enough how having students view their events from others perspectives, including characters, makes a difference in their lives and understanding #MakeItReal
A3 Not necessarily talking about new year but my mantra is “Every day you wake up is a good day” and we talk about how every day is a chance to craft your story—be it a History or a Herstory—and setting goals or intentions to frame it. #MakeItReal
A3: One of the coolest New Year's activities that I saw was from last year. @megan_hacholski had her Ss write their word on a sheet of bulletin board paper, then put it on the outside of her classroom door. Each day Ss came to class, it was reminder of their purpose. #makeitreal
A3: Math: how many ways can you make a 2019 with math operations?
Science: 2019 never existed before, connect to evolution theory and more.
Social Studies: make and map gov't predictions #MakeItReal
A3 - New year = new start! 2019 means reset the mind everyday especially for the kids that lack the skills/environment to grow outside of the 8 hour school day.
#MakeItReal
Using my content area in the New Year ... i am a History Teacher and Tech teacher ... new Congress coming in tomorrow and the President rambling like he has never taken a history class ... feeling like I need to be on my game in the new year. #makeitreal
A1: in 2nd grade it’s fun to witness Ss making connections to how long things last in/out of school. For example, a S might go to gymnastics class for an hour and our math lessons last for an hour. #MakeItReal
A2: providing experiences for my Ss that incorporate more tech! We have great tech resources @ school so I need to drive in and be okay with getting a little uncomfortableat first! #MakeItReal
