I think the most mindful aspect of my last week was the myriad of ways students said goodbye. Smiles, hugs and thank you's. I absolutely love the hand made cards and amazing letters. #pln365
Hey y’all! Elyse from north Texas & I teach special ed in a mod-severe behavior unit. One thing is I lived in Sydney, Australia for four years as a kid. #pln365
Robert here ffom Los Angeles. We had the 8th grade picnic the last week of school in Elysian Park by Dodger Stadium. Lovely setting, lovely day reflecting on another great teaching year. The snow cones were awesome, too! #pln365
Q1 #pln365
“Mindfulness is the aware, balanced acceptance of the present experience. It isn’t more complicated than that. It is opening to or receiving the present moment, pleasant or unpleasant, just as it is, without either clinging to it or rejecting it.” -Sylvia Boorstein

QUOTE 2 #pln365
“Being mindful means that we suspend judgment for a time, set aside our immediate goals for the future, and take in the present moment as it is rather than as we would like it to be.” – Mark Williams
Question 2- #pln365
In our classrooms- how can we find a balance between keeping our behavior management in check and allowing our students to have the flexibility they need to learn?
A1: How do we pause to reflect on the quality of our life and if the choices we are making truly reflect our best selves and vision for our lives? #pln365
QUOTE 2 #pln365
“Being mindful means that we suspend judgment for a time, set aside our immediate goals for the future, and take in the present moment as it is rather than as we would like it to be.” – Mark Williams
QUOTE 2 #pln365
“Being mindful means that we suspend judgment for a time, set aside our immediate goals for the future, and take in the present moment as it is rather than as we would like it to be.” – Mark Williams
A2. Why is it important to have hope when things don’t go our way? How can we see trials not as an obstacle, but to embrace them as a tool for refinement of our emotions and character and fortitude...a tool that shapes us to be better? #pln365
I'm thinking we need to work on setting aside judgment permanently. It is the poison that fools us into thinking we are all somehow separate or different or better than others. We are not. #pln365
QUOTE 2 #pln365

QUOTE 3 #pln365
“Knowledge does not mean mastering a great quantity of different information, but understanding the nature of mind. This knowledge can penetrate each one of our thoughts and illuminate each one of our perceptions.”- Matthieu Ricard
So true. We all have a certain level of judgment but how often are we wrong? Do we make snap judgments and then realize if we had just taken a pause we would have seen things differently #pln365
Q2 What is perception vs reality? Our perceptions come from the mind based on past experiences and form our reality but are they really our reality if they are based on our past? #pln365
#pln365 a1 q1 Mindfulness, how would you draw or describe it?
Using both a1 and q1 as I am not quite sure how to proceed @skymazef3
Confused downunder in Oz.
OMG yes! Especially if you did not actually witness the transgression/perceived transgression. Everyone makes mistakes, even the most perfect S.
#pln365
Yes. When we are intentional and purposeful things are different they have positivity- if only more people would stop and be intention with a mindful heart #pln365
Question 3 #pln365
How can we use our knowledge to change our perceptions? For me this is all about being aware of those around us and listening to alternative points of view- this is how change occurs- by listening and accepting new ideas.
QUOTE 3 #pln365
“Knowledge does not mean mastering a great quantity of different information, but understanding the nature of mind. This knowledge can penetrate each one of our thoughts and illuminate each one of our perceptions.”- Matthieu Ricard
QUOTE 4 #pln365
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” – Victor Frankl

I so agree- why can't students have more say- let them help us decide the curriculum #pln365 Student voice is critical if learning is going to take place
#pln365 a4 for q4 quote How will active listening help our mindfulness? How will active listening impact on our mindfulness? @skymazef3 on this chilly Melbourne morning. #teacherlife

#WholeChildChat begins in five minutes! All are welcome-- even if you haven't yet read the chapters for tonight's book study. We'll be discussing how to honor the #WholeChild and cultivating student respect and responsibility. https://t.co/VXd8rwFHvR
Thank you for joining me tonight in #pln365
Paul O’Neill I appreciate the opportunity to moderate tonight. It was awesome to be able
to chat with everyone in this group.
I hope everyone has a fabulous week!
Gidday from what we call wintertime with 6 degrees (10 for you northerners). These backward chats are tough going but my brain needs the burn of a good work out.
@skymazef3#pln365
Yes. I say anger is a good thing- it is how you deal with it that matters- imagine if we all got angry together and focused that energy at injustice #pln365
