I'd immediately suspend high stakes standardized testing and establish a task force of experts to develop new assessment approach
Bring schools together more closely with their communities by putting early childhood & kinder classes in senior centers

I would listen and observe carefully, visiting districts around the country...acting based on need...knowing I have much to learn!

I would especially focus on repairing the image of educators; so much negativity and damage by our leaders of late (esp. in here NJ)
