Q1: Do you have a degree or credential beyond your required bachelors and teaching credential? If so, what else have you earned? If not, what has influenced that decision? #caedchat
Ben James. G3 teacher at Intl School in Monterey. Just moved back to the states from teaching in Japan & looking to connect with other educators #caedchat
☀️😀🌴 Hello! Lisa from Whittier, CA ✏️ I’m a high school math teacher that is also an ed tech TOSA. Here tonight to connect with more cool ed Twitter peeps #caedchat

Christina from TX, originally from Cali, former Kindergarten teacher, Dir of Engagement @neprisapp and school board trustee. Happy to join your chat tonight! #caedchat
1. Our district was offering it as part of a grant. As long as we successfully complete the program it is FREE. 2. As a math teacher, coding is an amazing addition to the classroom, so many applications #CAedchat
#caedchat A1 It's been a few years but I've taught at a vocational school for graphic designers & animation at a community college. I have an MS Ed & certificates in management and multimedia. Decision influence by doing interesting [enjoyable] work..
A1: I was teaching overseas and looking to improve myself as an educator while still working. A local uni was not an option, but my undergrad @BallState offered a great MA Ed. distance program that ticked all my boxes #caedchat
A1 Rachael from PYLUSD, Middle School teacher. Main goal is to read/learn, admissions file is complete and ready to start Masters program in August #caedchat
A1: Got my PhD to be challenged. And join the larger conversation ab school reform. Felt stuck & needed a way to explain it. #freire#criticalpedagogy#caedchat
Hi #caedchat - David, HS English teacher and writer, Palo Alto. And…
A1: Masters in Education. Did it simultaneously with credential, and actually without really considering not doing it
I started teaching in Maine. My contact stated that I needed to earn my MA with in 8 years and the district would pay the tuition. #awesomedeal#caedchat
A1. Yes. Masters in Education. I'm also a Microsoff Innovative Educator - Expert & Trainer. MIE-Experts are selected as part of an exclusive Microsoft program to recognize global educator using technology to pave the way for better learning and student outcomes. #caedchat
Q1: Do you have a degree or credential beyond your required bachelors and teaching credential? If so, what else have you earned? If not, what has influenced that decision? #caedchat
A1 I hold an MS in Edu, specialization in Instructional technology. I fell in love with broadening the world beyond 4 walls, with my kindergarteners and tech was our avenue to get there! That is what influenced my decision to earn my Masters #caedchat
A1: Got my PhD to be challenged. And join the larger conversation ab school reform. Felt stuck & needed a way to explain it. #freire#criticalpedagogy#caedchat
1st Masters to clear my out of state credential in CA. 2nd Masters because I wanted to get into Admin. Doctorate because learning is addicting & I didn't want to stop!! #CAEdChat
A1: nope, family time, finances & not really interested in a masters in ed.... would love one in a science related field but haven’t been able to find the right fit for one yet. Someday. #caedchat
click on the #caedchat hashtag if viewing in Twitter - better still if you keep a column open in Tweetdeck - check it out for next time if you don’t have it now
A1: Masters in Education (National), Administrative Services Credential (SDSU), Google Certified Educator, Level 1 (I really need to finish Level 2!) #caedchat
A2 I really enjoyed providing PD in our district. I was missing a lot of days in the classroom to serve as a trainer. I was 18 years in the classroom. I needed a different challenge. Boy, I got it! Still not sure what my goal is LOL #caedchat
Ok. Howard here in my way into the 5th store of the evening. Taking care of the fam and planning genius hour cooking. Full inclusion middle school math science #caedchat
A2: As a TOSA I wanted, again, to see our school from a different lens. Problematizing systemic issues and addressing them is different when in the classroom. #CAedchat
I have a Masters in edtech and am one course shy of a computer science teaching endorsement from Boise State. I earned it before kids and lack of time. I love to learn and want to take advantage of new opportunities. Hope to start EdS next summer. #CAedchat
Q1: Do you have a degree or credential beyond your required bachelors and teaching credential? If so, what else have you earned? If not, what has influenced that decision? #caedchat
I’m incredibly passionate about keeping our kids safe. I have learned a lot over my career and after providing training to school districts, it’s time to expand. Feel free to RT and like. #edugladiators#BeTheOne
A2 I really enjoyed providing PD in our district. I was missing a lot of days in the classroom to serve as a trainer. I was 18 years in the classroom. I needed a different challenge. Boy, I got it! Still not sure what my goal is LOL #caedchat
A2: I ask myself that question A LOT! 😉The truth is I believed that people in admin should be Ts first. I always say I’m a Teacher who is currently assigned the role of Deputy Sup #caedchat
A2Just wanted more! Wanted to push the positive and help MORE kids... Always was problem solving, working to better the system, and solve issues. Administration became the calling... while it has opened some doors, I am still always looking to push harder, do more... #caedchat
A2: Scared to share it here (I really need to write a blog post to explain with all the nuance), but I'll admit it: I got my masters for the money. Got my admin credential for the same reason. Now, I work to improve systems and provide better access to equity for all #caedchat
A2: After 21 years in the classroom, I stepped out to be a TOA/coach. My reason: I needed a new challenge. I love my job and I spend time in classes every week. #caedchat
A2: I am not in admin at my current school, but I worked previously as program/curric coordinator at a dual lang Eng/Jap school in Kobe. I got a taste for academic coaching and teacher support as a teacher and was hired in-house after master's #caedchat
A2 I loved the classroom and still miss having a class to this day, but as an ITS, I felt like I could have a larger impact on student learning and achievement by working with edus and coaching them to transform education practices, I've learned so much along the way #caedchat
there are some public schools founded by teachers and led by teachers that have managed to do that, but I’d like to see more @teacherpowered education #caedchat
Currently half IT half teaching. I have had a desire to be fill time tech specialist. It is my passion and I want to help others with my gifts. Education is all about giving. My Ts and profs invested and believed in me, and I want to help Ts continue to do that #CAEdChat
#caedchat I am only 20% coach so I am still in the classroom. It allows me to test what I am talking about. I feel in my district, many admins forget what it is like in the classroom.
A2) I’m an IC who never expected to be out of the classroom...I was at the peak of my career and loved teaching more than ever before, but did it because I wanted to impact more classrooms..and more students.Didn’t expect it to be the greatest learning experience ever! #caedchat
Agreed, but it was more about the fact that options for making more money as a unionized teacher were limited. Sometimes, it stinks that we can't pay outstanding teachers more. My family needed more resources; it's part of the reason I had to move to Fresno, too! #caedchat
Don't be scared to share that, moving across the pay scale is an important part of being financially stable. I know I volunteer for extra paid duties to make more money! (especially here in CA) #Caedchat
Q3: Have you ever earned any special certifications (for example, National Board Certification)? If so, what did you earn? Would you recommend the experience? #caedchat
exactly! It would help both teachers and admin. to know more of the “other side” - improve school capacity, staff communication, empathy, flexibility #caedchat
A2 cont. I am actually BACK into a classroom teaching position after nearly 3 years out in admin. It has been an interesting experience so far! #caedchat
I use that word for the same reason! Also...let me just say that I'm really digging my interactions with you via #caedchat We'll have to meet sometime! (Going to Lead 3.0?)
A2: So a common theme here is teachers begin looking for a new challenge. Often, the best “teachers” leave for a new challenge 🤔. What do we need to do to keep the fire burning and keep TEACHERS CHALLENGED, AND still in the classroom? #caedchat
I would love to know more about your journey! I am cautiously toying with the idea to go back for a PhD. in the next 2 years. Wife and I just moved back to the US and had a baby in October. Am I crazy? #caedchat
exactly! It would help both teachers and admin. to know more of the “other side” - improve school capacity, staff communication, empathy, flexibility #caedchat
A3 Yes, I caught the Google Bug and earned Google Certified Teacher L1 & L2, then Google Certified Trainer. It’s opened so many doors and new opportunities. I highly recommend! #caedchat
A3: Google Certified Educator. I passed Level 1 with minimal effort. I don't know why it's taking me so long to do Level 2. Anyone want to reassure me that it's easy, too? Or is it way harder? #caedchat
#caedchat A3a As stated earlier, I'm not a K-12. Last time I had a certification was in the US Navy ~ 77. Micro circuit board repair. It got me a reputation for detailed tedious work. Since then it's been about being dangerous (#fail, learn)..
I’m a National Board Certified Teacher (’04, renewal ’14), and would highly recommend it. Appropriately challenging, with high standards and assessment by teacher for teachers #nbctstrong#caedchat
A2: I was having a great time in the classroom and just wanted to venture out into something different! As far as my main goal...still working on that just embracing the opportunity I have now to learn and connect with as many teachers as I can as a #tosa#caedchat
Q1: Do you have a degree or credential beyond your required bachelors and teaching credential? If so, what else have you earned? If not, what has influenced that decision? #caedchat
A3. Considered NBCT. However, chose Microsoft in Education because change is coming every life as we witness the most transformative wave of technology yet! #caedchat
A1: I seek PD in areas I want to grow as an educator, not always offered in my area. I look for what's new in education that I might be missing. I also follow twitter chats outside of my district/state #caedchat
A3: for anyone considering Ntl Board Certification I highly recommend going through the process in groups, with support, to improve the learning and gain help when needed. Check @NBCALIStrong and @NBPTS for more info #caedchat
A3: Our district provides funds for Ts who want to earn their Nat Board. We also provide coaching provided by Nat Board Ts in our district. Very powerful experience. We will honor 3 new NBCTs at our next Board mtg #caedchat
I would love to know more about your journey! I am cautiously toying with the idea to go back for a PhD. in the next 2 years. Wife and I just moved back to the US and had a baby in October. Am I crazy? #caedchat
A3: google certified 1 and 2, hoping to submit for trainer soon. I think earning certs is a great way to validate your skills and keep you motivated #caedchat
Q3: Have you ever earned any special certifications (for example, National Board Certification)? If so, what did you earn? Would you recommend the experience? #caedchat
#caedchat With 5 preps, CA CS Standards Committee Meetings this year, CUE Board member, a grant oversight committee member I just can't seem to get the time to take the Google Certification exam.
A3) Google Educator L1&2, Leading Edge Certifications (all but admin)... I would absolutely recommend all these experiences...really enhanced my understanding of 21st century pedagogy as it relates to teaching and learning. #caedchat
I think it comes down to teacher recognition and sometimes pay. Teachers don't always get the kudos that they deserve, and Admin often are busy and don't always see the incredible things happening each day in each classroom #itsaBIGjob#caedchat
A3: I have started the Google Certified Educator Level 2 path about 5 times! I like to think of myself as a Google power user, but I never committed to finishing it! #6thTimestheCharm#caedchat
Q3: Have you ever earned any special certifications (for example, National Board Certification)? If so, what did you earn? Would you recommend the experience? #caedchat
Q4: Of all the degrees, certifications, or credentials you’ve acquired, which do you feel has made the most impact on your life as an educator? #caedchat
A3:Check first that your district will recognize your certification. Have online teaching certificate from @ONEforTraining & @SanJuanUnified said “so what.” BUT they would acknowledge certification from a group that adapted my course & which takes 1/10 the time& effort 2 complete
In reply to
@MsYorksClass, @CAedchat, @ONEforTraining, @SanJuanUnified
A3: I have earned certificates...maybe not the same as certifications... Leading Edge Online/Blended, Digital Educator, Learning Leader; Grad. Certificate in Online Teaching and Technology Integration at @edtechbsu#caedchat
Q3: Have you ever earned any special certifications (for example, National Board Certification)? If so, what did you earn? Would you recommend the experience? #caedchat
You are 100% correct! Admin should be seeing the GREAT STUFF HAPPENING IN CLASSES EVERY DAY. An teachers ALL need more money for what they do... #caedchat
I think it comes down to teacher recognition and sometimes pay. Teachers don't always get the kudos that they deserve, and Admin often are busy and don't always see the incredible things happening each day in each classroom #itsaBIGjob#caedchat
A3 cont: I have worked almost exclusively in @IBPYP schools and have participated in a lot of their workshops and certifications. Although designed for teachers working in IB schools, they provided a LOT of great guidance and pedagogical knowledge #caedchat
#caedchat A4a Embracing the #unconference model for PD. #EdCamp has made all the difference in my career since '13. It's introduced me to an amazing group of explorers/experimenters & practitioners..
A4 Although I earned masters early in my career & it is now over 20 years old, it set me up for the path I am on now. (and pay raise) Admin credential may prove more valuable as I get up there in years served. I did learn quite a bit in my program. #caedchat
A4 My M.Ed in Educational Leadership has changed the way I think about school culture and relationship-building. It has sparked an interest in leaders and leadership in general as well. #caedchat
Q4: Of all the degrees, certifications, or credentials you’ve acquired, which do you feel has made the most impact on your life as an educator? #caedchat
A4: same as A3: National Board Cert. has had most impact. By far. Improved my teaching, prepared me for more leadership oppty in/beyond district, improved advocacy skills and oppty., connected me w/ many wonderful ppl #caedchat#NBCTstrong@NBPTS
A4: I would say receiving my teaching credential, because it was what gave me the opportunity to be a teacher and connect with students everything else is just part of my lifelong learning #caedchat
A4) Honestly... I think it was my Masters in Ed Tech program @csuf with @theedtechdoctor & all the other wonderful instructors that inspired me to want to do more! It was more than just learning about technology... it prepared me for leadership roles & beyond #caedchat
Q4: Of all the degrees, certifications, or credentials you’ve acquired, which do you feel has made the most impact on your life as an educator? #caedchat
A4: Okay, serious answer: my old district (@GUHSDTweet) offered "Digital University" training WAY back in the day, then more recently "Google Ninja" certification. I'm telling you, they led the way in micro-credentialing (without the label) #caedchat@danmcdowell
I ripped through all of the standard Edtech certs. None were difficult or more difficult. #caedchat I think they make sense for a school looking to understand basic mastery over platforms of choice.
A4. I'm completing my Microsoft Certified Trainer. Learning the new 21st Century Learning Design. Artificial Intelligence - Mixed Reality - Quantum Physics. #CAedchat
A4: Attending #edcamp#cue#googlecamps meeting teachers doing amazing things, have impacted me the most. To where I want to go back to school and get additional degrees (let me pay for my kids colleges first!) #caedchat
Q4: Of all the degrees, certifications, or credentials you’ve acquired, which do you feel has made the most impact on your life as an educator? #caedchat
#caedchat A4b I guess it's because almost all the Ts I meet say it's rewarding to be able to engage with and be remembered by young people on the cusp of their developmental journey. I'd like that, too..
My Bachelors in Child Development is what made me consider looking at school differently. An opportunity to open a new full inclusion school came a decade later. I was already in the right space to jump in. #caedchat
Sure - not for everyone. But our admin. are stretched so thin and I think many teachers would take a slight decrease in classroom time (or teaching load for secondary teachers) in exchange for some comparable time in admin./leadership roles #caedchat
In reply to
@teacher_mikeb, @arturo_calisto, @principledlady
A4: definitely teaching credential. I struggled in college because I was unmotivated and unprepared. Once I found edu, I had a passion! I knew I wanted to be involved with kids, and edu has made a tremendous impact! #caedchat
Q4: Of all the degrees, certifications, or credentials you’ve acquired, which do you feel has made the most impact on your life as an educator? #caedchat
A4: Master's by far. Earning the degree after a few years in the classroom, studying the program WHILE teaching was stressful, but very empowering to take control of my learning and be able to apply it the next day in my class #caedchat
Q4: Of all the degrees, certifications, or credentials you’ve acquired, which do you feel has made the most impact on your life as an educator? #caedchat
A4 I think serving as a School Board trustee has made one of the biggest impacts on me. I have a voice in my children's edu and all students in the district and have a greater understanding of school finance and decision making #avoiceinEdu#caedchat
In no doubt, the lifestyle a teacher “gets to live” financially is not adequate enough. There has to be a happy medium. For what WE ALL DO, as much as there are other intrinsic rewards, we all hope/want/need MORE... #caedchat
I loved the school I taught at in Idaho. My admin gave me a great support and a clean slate to teach what I wanted. I was completely motivated. However, pay was a deciding factor. It was a Christian School that was well below public school pay, and I had a growing family.
A4: Being a Certified @Desmos Presenter has made the most impact on my life as an educator. Team Desmos and all the Fellows are wonderful and encouraging. As a result, I've submitted proposals to speak at conferences. #caedchat
A4: The ADE program has connected me with some incredible educators and opportunities as well. Grateful for that. Just got back from speaking at a university conference in Monterrey Mexico. #caedchat
Q5: For those who are considering a new degree, certification, or credential, what challenges are you facing, if any? Time, finances, motivation, … something else? #caedchat
A4 My credential started the journey towards finding my mission/vision in the classroom. Currently, I'm participating in a Teacher Leadership Seminar led by our Super. The dialogue with teacher leaders in my district has been thought provoking! #caedchat
so true I make more as a club swimming coach than as a teacher. That second income has helped me live in southern California where it can be hard #caedchat
.@MsYorksClass Achieving #googleEI and Google Certified trainer really did the most for my confidence. Gaining membership to these great communities helped me learned and gain confidence #caedchat
Q4: Of all the degrees, certifications, or credentials you’ve acquired, which do you feel has made the most impact on your life as an educator? #caedchat
A5 It certainly isn’t affordable to continue in higher ed. (doctorate) My kids are older, so I have the time. Also, I don’t know if any further degrees will be cost effective...will I reap the benefits financially? #caedchat
Since I am currently completing one, last class finished April 8th. Motivation is hard at times, if my district wasn't paying for this, money would be an issue. Time...ugh, who has that? I have seriously struggled with that. #caedchat
Q5: For those who are considering a new degree, certification, or credential, what challenges are you facing, if any? Time, finances, motivation, … something else? #caedchat
Honestly, I left the program after 3 years for a degree in English because I did not feel fulfilled spending so much time hunched over a computer. Also, job prospects were lucrative, but dull IMO. Over 10 years ago, so things are different now, but I dont regret it #caedchat
A5: Let me dream a little, because this is an idea that many smaller districts just don't have the resources/personnel to provide. Maybe a statewide consortium to provide #microcredentialing in myriad areas: not just #edtech, but all areas of expertise within education. #caedchat
A5. Yes, yes, and yes! Balancing family, classroom and personal life. Technology is rapidly changing and becoming mainstream! Life-long learning at its best! #caedchat
Q5: For those who are considering a new degree, certification, or credential, what challenges are you facing, if any? Time, finances, motivation, … something else? #caedchat
A5: options… at various times I’ve considered a degree in ed. leadership/policy, or becoming a librarian (!), or admin. credential. All the usual issues though: time, money, career path uncertainty… #caedchat
#caedchat A5a What I tell people.. Three kids in college, mortgage, impending retirement. Truth is the challenge is uncertainty about my ability to learn a new career & start over at my stage of life..
#caedchat time is the biggest issue. I think most teachers hate sucking and anything and whether its being a parent, spouse, second job, teacher, its hard to have time to be good at all

I went to a private school and we had admin. who taught as well. One of the great advantages in independent schools. (I have cousins who live in West Hills, btw).

.A5 I entering year 4 of work toward an EdD in edtech @edtechbsu It is a daunting task as the dissertation process is about to begin. The hardest part is staying the course and finishing strong no matter what the race #caedchat
Q5: For those who are considering a new degree, certification, or credential, what challenges are you facing, if any? Time, finances, motivation, … something else? #caedchat
A5) Admin credential program to gain more knowledge in the area of leadership...the hybrid program itself is perfect for the working mom (me) but since it’s a brand new course, lacks organization & clarity which makes it difficult to follow at times...#caedchat
Q5) Ready to embark this Fall! I'm a planner- working through life milestones in SoCal (marriage, home ownership, becoming a mother) while also finding that intrinsic motivation has been challenging. #caedchat
Q5: For those who are considering a new degree, certification, or credential, what challenges are you facing, if any? Time, finances, motivation, … something else? #caedchat
A5: I’m also interested in the possibility of micro-credentials! Check out @DigitalPromise and partners - could be a game changer for continuing ed. and professional learning #caedchat
A5: before tonight's #caedchat, I WAS challenged by time, motivating, and knowing how to begin but you all listed so many possibilities, I'm not sure I have a choice other than to just go for it 😊
Q5: For those who are considering a new degree, certification, or credential, what challenges are you facing, if any? Time, finances, motivation, … something else? #caedchat
Q5: For those who are considering a new degree, certification, or credential, what challenges are you facing, if any? Time, finances, motivation, … something else? #caedchat
A5: I actually am in a CA teaching credential program right now! My Master's was not a credential so I needed to earn one to teach here in the US, AFTER earning my Master's. #caedchat
Q5: For those who are considering a new degree, certification, or credential, what challenges are you facing, if any? Time, finances, motivation, … something else? #caedchat
I'm at a large public HS, and admin. are pulled in so many directions by site demands, district demands, and so many after-school responsibilities with sports and other events #caedchat
A5: I am considering my #doctorate, but as you mentioned 🕰 💰🔋, as well as my two boys, wife is encouraging me to do it, but just don’t know yet #caedchat
A6. Find creative ways to remove financial barriers to the profession. Becoming a teacher in most states costs ~$20K in tuition for master’s degrees/fees for certification exams. The group that can afford that price tag is disproportionately white. #TOCRecruitment
We gotta get that figured out, changed... incentives/pay to keep teachers in the classroom, while providing more time for other avenues of exploration #caedchat
A5 cont. The intern program allows me to teach (and earn) full time while getting the CA credential. The classes have been good and flexible to my experience so far, but I can't help but feel sometimes that I am re-doing material from my post-grad #caedchat
Q6: To those of you who have accomplished further education, do you have any tips for those beginning a path toward administration or an additional credential? #caedchat
A6 I think an admin credential provides the most flexibility as far as moving up. In mainstream jobs, there are more opportunities to grow one’s career...not so much in education unless you go the admin route. #caedchat
#caedchat time is the biggest issue. I think most teachers hate sucking and anything and whether its being a parent, spouse, second job, teacher, its hard to have time to be good at all
A6: Have a plan of what you want to accomplish. Make the classes work for you towards goal. All my research papers had same theme so I could USE it. #CaEdChat
Q6: To those of you who have accomplished further education, do you have any tips for those beginning a path toward administration or an additional credential? #caedchat
A6: This response below, is one of the reasons why I wouldn't consider being an Admin. Since my first day in a school (20+ years ago) I could see that the magic happens IN the classroom, I don't want to loose that opportunity #caedchat
I'm at a large public HS, and admin. are pulled in so many directions by site demands, district demands, and so many after-school responsibilities with sports and other events #caedchat
A6) Yes...try to recruit some colleagues to do it with you! It helps to motivate each other and keep each other on track! Also, I did my maters with 2 small children sindlnt let that deter you! Online program are great for flexibility! #caedchat
A6: Find a program that matches your philosophy. I was interested in social justice, so I chose Principal Leadership Institute through Center X at UCLA and they continue outreach and support even after you're done.https://t.co/ML0pa2W6VW#caedchat
Q6: To those of you who have accomplished further education, do you have any tips for those beginning a path toward administration or an additional credential? #caedchat
A6 cont: Doing my Master's it was crucial to structure how I would spend my time and STICK TO IT. 40 mins for Masters work, 30 mins for classroom planning/assessment, 30 mins for chill out/TV/Games/adult beverage, etc. Be sure to include time for yourself/family! #caedchat
Q6 have a good support system in place. Be realistic with your time and energy and make sure you don’t lose sight of the joy in the job you have while your working towards something new/more. #CAedchat
Q6: To those of you who have accomplished further education, do you have any tips for those beginning a path toward administration or an additional credential? #caedchat
I didn’t ehile I pursued my masters but am going through admin prog with some colleagues. The discussions we have between each other are invaluable and helps us to reflect on our learning experience. Helps that we trust each other #caedchat
Q7: Stepping outside of college credit acquisition, what has been a form of professional development that you would encourage others to experience? (ie: a conference, book, or online group) #caedchat
Don't "test out" for the admin credential. My learning at @SDSU was so good! Be fully prepared instead of just "getting by with what you know" #caedchat
A6: Today, there are more pathways to school leadership. Find a mentor and/or reach out to the multitude of organizations out there that are making it easier than ever before to earn an additional credential. #caedchat
I still enjoy the classroom, but could imagine at some point feeling like I want to help lead in ways that are hard to do as a teacher in the current system.
#caedchat
Q7: Stepping outside of college credit acquisition, what has been a form of professional development that you would encourage others to experience? (ie: a conference, book, or online group) #caedchat
A6: if you can find a quality online program, it can save you the excuse of time. I found that my online masters program was so much easier than anticipated because of the flexibility. It would have been very difficult attending classes after long days #caedchat
Q6: To those of you who have accomplished further education, do you have any tips for those beginning a path toward administration or an additional credential? #caedchat

#caedchat A7a Since I first #ReimaginePD with teachers I've met more people on their way to self-actualization [or there already] than at any point in my 44 years in the workforce.. https://t.co/Y8G25eKCSe
A7: Podcasts, podcasts, podcasts! I undergo at least one hour of professional learning every single day (and that's at 2x playback!). Twitter, of course, but #trypod#caedchat
Edcamps, CUE, Google Summits, Google Camps have been amazing! If time and money were not factors, I would attend them more, there is so much to learn #CAedchat
Q7: Stepping outside of college credit acquisition, what has been a form of professional development that you would encourage others to experience? (ie: a conference, book, or online group) #caedchat
I got an MA in Arts Management long before becoming a T. My challenge is that most of my district is trapped in 19thc. I am stuck in with too many years to take anywhere else. I try to affect change but I need to do something drastic. #caedchat

You’re welcome! Never too late & in actual fact, so glad I did it when I did it because my children and husband were my greatest encouragement. I wanted to succeed and do it for them. #caedchat
A7: you are doing it. I started using Twitter just over a month ago. I wish I was here years ago. The PLn that you can develop is incredible. I would probably be so much further if I utilized this tool years ago #caedchat

#caedchat A7b I'd recommend finding your niche and giving it all you've got. I got my undergrad in '06 at 50. Last class was Life Span Development. It was like pressing rewind on my life. #irony
I agree with you. I love working with my team of teachers. I love to learn new things and share out with them. For the others outside of my team, I love sharing with them too. I couldn't imagine leaving FULL time, I would have to be there part time #caedchat
A7 I encourage others to find their PLN through Twitter. I am so amazed by how much I learn and am helped by others every day. I am in awe of the resources that are freely shared. #CAedchat
A7 Best non college PD I’ve ever experienced is failure, make mistakes with passion at full speed, then learn from the ride. A packet full of PD in every #failure#caedchathttps://t.co/UF0rFoVLq2
A7: I worked with some great teachers to organize one of the first #edcamp in Japan, @Edcampkansai Very empowering, personalized, and teacher-centric form of PD. Anyone can start one and @EdcampUSA is super helpful in helping to set them up! #caedchat

A1-2 Big believer in life-long learning. Always something to learn & great to learn w/peers in the field. Love the cohort model in both the @SDSU@SDSU_EDL & @CMUniversity@cmuedl programs! #caedchat
A7 I love a good conference. I always come back having learned new things, picked up new resources , met inspiring people, excited to share new methods/ideas/concepts with staff and totally recharged about what I do for a living #CAedchat
Thanks for chiming in, everyone! You’ve helped foster a wonderful chat tonight! Remember, there will be no chat next week. Consider it #caedchat’s Spring Break! :) We’ll see you on April 8th!
