A1. Blogging, GDrive, eBooks, , to name a few
So glad to have all of you here! Q1: How do you currently integrate technology in your literacy practices?
A1: With ELL I have been focused on the oral language in literacy, and have started to use to create digital portfolios
Padlet is a great tool! One of my former grad students used it as a multimodal reading log with !
I love that you included speaking, listening and visuals into your def of literacy. So important but easily forgotten
Definitely is increasing in popularity. We use it in a grad course
A teacher I work with just finished a book circle podcast project. Amazing work by students!

A1: taught me to use padlet for digital reading logs that provide students with authentic purpose & audience
A1: hyperdocs and Google Maps to lead students through settings, enhancing understanding.
I listen to all my grad school readings. Helps me focus and retain more.
Would love to hear more about this!
A1 everything is a literacy. So anything we do falls into a literacy practice
I have seen padlet but need to look into it more.
We like to use Padlet too. Have you tried Lino yet?
A1 through just discovered . Amazing site for MS and HS teachers and students
So many apps, but find ones that use multiple modalities work well (e.g. iMovie, VoiceThread, Prezi)
A1 but that answer your Q, we use Wikispaces to write tutorials, and GDocs for project logs
I agree, and I think speaking is often ignored and needs more focus.
Is it possible to say more about in a tweet?
A1:There are many digital tools. Ex: We can assigned Ss appropriate videos via EdPuzzle.
Thanks for sharing! I will have to check these out!
No I have not, I would love to know more? How has it worked for you?

I love that you included speaking, listening and visuals into your def of literacy. So important but easily forgotten
A1: Our free, online library https://t.co/rvOBulmvQ4 w/ age-relevant content for struggling readers & a writing contest
sts selected books and discussed them in a podcast format. I helped with the software and instruc selecting cc music
Which is why I like apps like & digital story tools
I am just starting to use it with my ELLs. I am using it right now as a tool to have them reflect on a piece.
My Ss love Lino. You can # notes, highlight new stickies, it's similar to padlet but has a few more features.
Multiple modalities are key! Ss read, write/ speak/ listen & give feedback. Inc literacy in math
I have never heard of voicethread. Will check it out!
Another perfect app for integrating lots of modalities Thanks for sharing
Q2. What is a goal you have for integrating technology and literacy this year?
That's awesome. Are they writing or uploading videos or podcasts?
I have never heard of EdPuzzle but very interested after a Google search! Always looking for differentiation ideas
Awesome I will have to try it out for my next project!
What grade/subject are you using Lino with?
A2. More student choice of how they want to use technology with literacy.
Yes! Safe space to communicate, question... and you can get a transcript now! You don't have to miss a thing!
Been lurking but jumping in from Arkansas
right now they are reading a piece they wrote in classroom. Later, I want to do more with their reading and reflect.
So cool! Tell us more!!!!
Welcome, Julie! We're glad you're here.
I'd love to do more with . Listening, responding, and creating based on the talk
How do students use/access storyshares?
A2: Goal for tech integration in literacy...that Ts use the tools as second nature & take learning outside the classroom
A2: generate stories for our writing contest, entries are free & unlimited. Stories that can help struggling readers
I'm studying middle level math and history. I love it! I am working with a 9th grade math class in My

2A: I want to expound upon my knowledge and also my future students. Learning about tech now and using it will be a great tool
Currently 4th grade w/ Genius Hour but am introducing it to a PBL class of K-12th grade teachers this month
I agree with you and am excited to try because they use the ipad as a communication tool.
This is such a great way to integrate oral language skills for ELLs https://t.co/q3x8KHqKmq
A2: To create a digital portfolio that ELLs, Ts, and parents can look back on and see growth.
Q3. How can we use digital tools to facilitate the writing process?
Much of the writing I do is collaborative & is done w/ colleagues in other places. Digital tools make this possible!
A2: For our reading content to reach struggling readers globally & have more writers share their incredible stories!
There are a few apps that are very easy to use. Do your students have devices? Tablets? Smartphones?
A3. Digital tools can provide a structure and way to easily access and reflect on past work
Q3 blogs, presentations, story telling apps . Anyway that is authentic is always best.
A3. GDocs is a great way to incorporate tech into the writing proess from Brainstorming to Publishing
A3: Storybird is a program that is being used at my school. S's choose a pic online and write about it.

It's such a great tool! We have a chapter about it in our new book!
A3: Digital tools can significantly enhance the feedback on writing, making the revision process timely & purposeful!
This is huge! I don't think our kids do enough self-reflection and that is where the learning happens!
A3: Pictochart can be a great tool to demonstrate knowledge and how something should be formated I have used it and enjoyed it
A3: Modeling is so important for students. Any tool that allows them to observe think alouds is a win in writing.
Yes, in fact that is how and I wrote From Pencils to Podcasts!
A3: By providing tips for avoiding writing block & allowing Ss to collaborate & share ideas. Writing=ongoing process
Which storytelling apps do you use?
A3: Ss can share portions of writing activities to receive response and help generate ideas for others.
I love blogging! Here's a piece and I wrote about our digital partnership.
I totally agree. lets kids create multiple versions of their project so they get feedback & revise
I've used with elementary students, teachers and pre service teacher Ed students. They always love it
Reflection is akey part of the learning process (no matter where we are in that process). Which tools do you prefer?
Q3: I really like kaizena to provide students w oral feedback on drafts in progress & peer feedback. https://t.co/2JWFmsTOss
Hi from NY everyone! Joining in a bit late...
Yes is another good app for promoting literacy
A3: for the peer revision process, sharing of ideas and modeling exemplary work. Sharing across classrooms, "pen pals"
Need to look into Lino Thanks
Wow! There are so many new tried and true digital tools everyone is sharing! Can't wait to check them all out!
If you want to start with podcasting- try For videos, is an easy app.
A3: Now more than ever digital storytelling is a powerful tool to bridge home school connection https://t.co/aDlxg9i94w
All of these are ones I like. Now need to look into
How do you facilitate this?
Digital storytelling is my favorite use of tech to promote literacy
Are these useful for grades 2-3?
Q4. In what ways do you use technology to foster collaboration in and out of the classroom?
We want to do a digital "newspaper" what would be a good format . Suggestions?
We've used with very young students.
So many tools to explore!! Can't wait to have a chance to get in a play and then share w/ my Ts!
What are your favorite tools or forms of feedback?
Need to check these out! So excited to explore new apps. https://t.co/N0sEwNOv8q
All of these are ones I like. Now need to look into
Yes. I find it easiest to record on my iPad or iPhone, but you can also record on a computer.
A4: Google docs has been fantastic! its easy assess for everyone, and it allows you to make sure everyone is working together
A4 Writing club has done and we are bringing back our lit mag through a website
A4: google calendars right now. I need ideas! This part is a challenge for me.
So good to hear your students are doing
Readers can look up words when reading & can review the content. A great way to grow writers & allow readers a voice
Do all of the students feel invested in this project?
yes, they are already getting excited for this year!
I love the talk-to-text feature they've added too... many ways to contribute
A4: We also use google docs to collaborate on units
For "in the moment" I like goFormative, for longer pieces I like Google Docs
Use the talk-to-text feature in GDocs but still need to go back & edit text
I will definitely check it out! I followed them to check back later :)
this is my writing club, so all sts are already into writing. It was neat to watch them hold each other accountable
A4: Tech tools that provide autonomy & authentic audience for sts to share reading, writing, & thinking are powerful.
Especially those of us in the south... :)
And great for struggling writers and ELLs!
I didn't know that they added that feature! Thats fantastic!
That's such an authentic practice... our writing buddies certainly hold us accountable
A4: 2 Ts I work w/ set up GoogleClassroom chats "Academic Scholar" & "Social Butterfly" chats. They teach 3rd graders!
I was using Read Write for Google Chrome on Google Docs but it interfere with other apps
Q5. How can technology enhance assessment and reflection?
A4: My class uses Google Docs, Google Sheets for our projects, assignments, etc.
Really, like what? I haven't had that problem yet.
What do they do with the social butterfly chats?
A5: Very easy to provide interim and final feedback with Google Docs and for students to respond/reflect
Just added it back on so will see if earlier issues are gone.
What grade level have you used this with?
Giving instant feed back with tech is great I personally have found it very helpful working and studying, as a current student
A5: Allows immediate feedback-A great way for readers + writers to assess skill. Inspiration to improve is available
A5: differentiated assessments are much easier to integrate with technology. I've also had students use video self reflections
No Read&Write is a chrome extension literacy software that makes the web, doc etc more accessible, anytime anywhere
Mine also enjoy that they can provide one another with feedback
A5: Technology affords Ss possibility of a relevant, evidence based demo of their learning. The goal for all assessment.
A5) I think technology should help teachers see the whole student, easily track data and plan instruction based on results
That is what I do all the time and actually need to give some interim feedback tonight
yes, we're doing peer feedback in class this week in with Google Docs
All grade levels from K to 12+.
Google surveys are great for quick formative assessments. And has an option where students can draw right on the photos
Each student has a shared folder w/ instructor making it easy to find, respond, and continue from there
They ask abt a football game or book, movie, event that Ss might be familiar with. Practicing social media skills
what programs do you use for that?
1st grade. Still working on surface level part, but generally we share videos using Apple TV and make connections
Use Google Forms to create surveys to end each class
How often do you have Ss give each other feedback and how do you structure it?
Wow! So true! https://t.co/M3lxL3xKr0
A5: Technology affords Ss possibility of a relevant, evidence based demo of their learning. The goal for all assessment.
The more often they can give feedback, the better. Structure varies w/ project
Another tool that allows for drawing on images or blank canvas. https://t.co/NTrIGUYCqO
Google surveys are great for quick formative assessments. And has an option where students can draw right on the photos
I also love Googles new quiz feature as the students get real time data
Skitch is a neat app that allows for annotation on top of photos
They can also share drafts w/ whole class thru a Class Google Community, a Google Doc, etc
Hello, this is Curtis Gembey. I'ma student teachers at Red River College in Canada. Observing the chat for valuable information
Students see samples of former students' work as well as examples of work I create
I feel like that is all I talk about right now!
I have found it super useful working with Ss across the country.
Next week's revisiting Content vs. Skills for College and Career Readiness. Join and me next Sun 8 PM ET US
A5: Technologies should function as intellectual tool kits that enable Ss to build more meaningful representations of the world.
For lower grades is appropritate Take note
still learning, I usually have them recording using the regular video app or creating a presentation using Keynote
Just wondering why podcasts is in title as that suggests limited to audio primarily
