Hello and welcome to the #ProDriven chat. Tonight we're talking "REFLECTION" and "SHARING" related to those phases in the amazing "How To" book by @jbormann3 Thanks for letting me guest host Jarod! https://t.co/FGuFGQVfcG
Introductions: Please introduce yourself to the #ProDriven chat community. Where are you from? What is your educational role? How much #personalizedPD are you doing or leading?
Hello, my name is Bret Carson and I'm actually new to the #ProDriven style and I'm currently working toward my teaching certification at Austin Peay State University! What can y'all tell me about it?
Hey, Bret! If you stay with us for the next hour, you’ll hopefully get a taste for it. But more can be found here -> https://t.co/Y3cVuvxlZD. #ProDriven
A1: Being driven to constantly improve your curriculum and outlook on education is something every teacher and educator should strive to work toward. I want to be no different. #ProDriven#PersonalizedPD
A1: Howdy #prodriven friends; I love Twitter because it helps me reflect and grow. So many great ideas from so many passionate people. My heart is so grateful for this cyberspace collaboration. Thank you all for being my edu-heroes!
A1) #Twitterchats give me the opportunity to share my thinking, challenge my perspectives, and connect with other educators that allows me to grow my capacity to serve others. #prodriven
Hello, Brian from WI. Assistant Superintendent of Instruction. Engage in my own #PersonalizedPD daily, encourage, model, and incorporate into our district PD for our staff whenever possible. #ProDriven
Introductions: Please introduce yourself to the #ProDriven chat community. Where are you from? What is your educational role? How much #personalizedPD are you doing or leading?
A1 I want to be in the drivers seat of my own learning. I’m fueled by learning and sharing and Twitter allows me to do both whenever and wherever I want. #ProDriven
A1: One of the biggest fallacies of quality PD is that it has to come from outside. Brining in high-priced consultants is fine if it leads somewhere. These chats, our PLN, our blog and book readers? That's our somewhere. #prodriven
A1: It's gotten tougher, but I show up to Twitter chats because I want to learn. I can ask questions, engage with other professionals, and connect with people outside my educational bubble. #ProDriven#personalizedPD
A1) I love hearing about what others are doing and it challenges me to make sure that everything I do is worth sharing. If it’s not, time to re-examine. #ProDriven
A1: For me, it’s addictive. Learning always leaves me wanting more. More connections. More ideas. More collaboration. It’s liberating having control of your own PD rather than letting someone else chose your path. #ProDriven
A1: For me, I feel like it's mostly to share ideas and build on my tool belt. Although I do have to admit, on those tough days, it's more to validate that I'm doing the right thing. #ProDriven
A1: Twitter chats allow an opportunity to connect with others on topics of personal relevance and timely topics that can both confirm and challenge my thinking. #ProDriven#PersonalizedPD#SlateinWi
Everything is about connections and education is no different. If we build a foundation of community, any issue merely becomes a topic of conversation that can be solved through experience. #ProDriven
Q2: Reflect on what you do to analyze your learning plan. Is your plan taking you in the right direction on your #ProDriven journey? Explain. #personalizedPD
“Outside your educational bubble” is key! 🔑 The real edu-power of using Twitter for #personalizedPD is connecting & learning from voices OUTSIDE of your own district. Learn what’s happening in the big wide 🌎 & bring it back TO your district. #ProDriven
A1: It's gotten tougher, but I show up to Twitter chats because I want to learn. I can ask questions, engage with other professionals, and connect with people outside my educational bubble. #ProDriven#personalizedPD
A2 - I believe so...I'm much more skeptical of information...don't just believe it because a certain person or company tweets about it. I want evidence of effectiveness. #prodriven
Though I haven't had any concrete teaching experience in the past, I've taken it upon myself to analyze when I'm in a position of leadership to find what's best for my followers AND myself. If my plan doesn't accommodate that, I change it. #ProDriven#PersonalizedPD
I do a lot of self-reflection but coaching conversations are imperative to my process. They help me think about my thinking. I am so excited about my journey in bringing mindfulness to classrooms and beyond. #ProDriven
Q2: Reflect on what you do to analyze your learning plan. Is your plan taking you in the right direction on your #ProDriven journey? Explain. #personalizedPD
A1) In the words of my friend @PaulONeill1972twitter allows me to learn beyond the artificial walls of my school. Learning takes place everywhere. #prodriven
A2: The journey will not be perfect, but as long as I move towards “Positive Effects on Learner Outcomes,” then I’m going in the right direction. This is the same for admins, paras, etc. #ProDriven
A2: I feel like it is. The beginning of the year, in a new district, with some other issues, was tough. I've learned that I have the complete support of my admin. and that has taken a huge weight off my shoulders!! #ProDriven
A1: This is my first Twitter Chat experience and I know that I will gain valuable skills and knowledge that I can utilize throughout my career as an agricultural educator. Knowing I will make an impact in many lives encourages me to be #ProDriven.
A2: I probably don't reflect enough on my learning plan. Time to re-read your book! My journey is trying to completely learn a new position! #prodriven#personalizedPD
A2: I make time to review my professional goals and check progress towards the learning outcomes I’ve set. When I see myself getting off into the weeds a bit I reflect on if it’s because of a change in needs present or other influencers. #ProDriven#personalizedPD
Q2: Reflect on what you do to analyze your learning plan. Is your plan taking you in the right direction on your #ProDriven journey? Explain. #personalizedPD
A2: I constantly reflect on my practice & the direction I’m headed. Oddly enough, fear drives me to try new things. It’s a challenge I like to attempt to tackle. But, bouncing ideas off of others always helps me focus and can change my perspective to include new idea. #ProDriven
A2: My learning plan beyond traveling and sharpening my skills as a presenter and speaker is to learn through my new podcast #CharacterSpeaks.
Today episode 20 posted; so much food for thought about #kindnesshttps://t.co/Rg6DWyZX56#prodriven
A2: I have to ask myself BEFORE going to the Integration Phase: “What is the ‘THING’ that I will need to look for that tells me it’s working?” #ProDriven
Q2: Reflect on what you do to analyze your learning plan. Is your plan taking you in the right direction on your #ProDriven journey? Explain. #personalizedPD
A2: This year we had Ts self-assess where they are with tech integration. Really helped me see what we've achieved over the past 4 years. Further than I thought, but open to more growth. #prodriven
A2: Imposter Syndrome is a great motivator for reflection. While I wouldn't wish it on anyone, it does help me stay grounded and working hard. I don't see an alternative. #prodriven
That's probably OK. If you keep that thought, keep asking yourself if you are heading the right way, and keep reflecting on what you could do differently. That's the process, right? #ProDriven
A2: I honestly need to revisit my learning plan. I am all over the place because I always want to learn EVERYTHING! I really do need to filter & focus. That’s a good goal - thanks! #personalizedPD#ProDriven
Anyone can be your coach. It just needs to be someone you feel comfortable pushing your thinking through questions. Not necessarily someone who is an “expert” on the subject you’re researching. My agency that I work for is actually doing this now. #ProDriven
A2: I honestly need to revisit my learning plan. I am all over the place because I always want to learn EVERYTHING! I really do need to filter & focus. That’s a good goal - thanks! #personalizedPD#ProDriven
I enjoyed the "21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership" by John C. Maxwell. It provided some keen insight in really down-to-earth ways and used contemporary examples for vague concepts. #ProDriven
It’s easy to get off into the weeds on your own journey due to the day-to-day influences that draw our focus. When I find myself drifting off course, it’s a signal that it’s time to step back and reflect. #ProDriven#PersonalizedPD
A3: I'm reading What's the Best That Could Happen by @millerread. Troublemakers by @CarlaShalaby rocked my first-grade teacher mind and challenged me as an educator and as a mom. #ProDriven#personalizedPD
That's my 'Squirrel' syndrome. We need a personal vision - just like our school's vision. Ours is 'Every Student, Every Day'. Ask yourself if what you're doing fits your vision. Don't get distracted. #prodriven
A3: Stories in EDU podcast, @Rdene915 and @D4Griffin3 blog posts. My reading plan in 2019 will go with my new #OneWord which is #strength . After I finish my current book, I'm starting "The Power of Moments" which was recommended to me by @mccall_kelley#ProDriven

@jbretzmann, @Rdene915, @D4Griffin3, @mccall_kelley
Ok, getting my posture right to share the #ClearTheAir Spring books. This is just a brief introduction of the books we are going to read. As we get closer, I will share the specific reading schedule. Be patient with me as I am threading this live.
A3: I think many of us owe to @cultofpedagogy for our blogging. I think hers is the finest available. Of course, I'd be remiss not to bring up a little blog called Level Up Leadership. I feel like that one is worth the read. #leveluplead#prodriven
Hey Friends. It's time for the Lurker Shoutout. If you're lurking and learning, feel free to jump in & say hi and share your thoughts. Or just keep lurking. Either way is cool. https://t.co/RjNDa8ngdY#ProDriven CC: @kennybosch#personalizedPD
I created a Google Form & asked Ts to rate themselves in various areas on a 1-5 Likert scale of "I struggle with this" to "I'm an expert with this". First Qs focused on tech basics, then Google Apps, then @Schoology then collaboration. #prodriven
I love sharing educator stories. I tell 9 stories in the #StoriesinEDU book & educators from around the US join me to tell another 20 in this powerful book https://t.co/EyWXyGFrod#ProDriven
A4: Joining Twitter was big, but it was seeing AWESOME educators that wanted to leave the profession that got me REALLY fired up to start the Professionally Driven mission to empower educators again (or continue it). #ProDriven
A4: my personalizePD has completely transformed my classroom. I love my “job.” My journey started as a “challenge” from my student T. You can read all about it in #StoriesinEDU I was in a complacent state, and this T saved me from myself! #ProDriven

#ProDriven it’s allowed me to go deeper into areas that interest me.
This depth allows me to become somewhat fluent/confident. I like to know the “ins and outs”.
A4: As a PD Coordinator, it has completely changed how I approach planning for PD for our system. While we continue to have aspects of traditional PD, we now ask what opportunities do we have for & in support of #PersonalizedPD built into our structures. #ProDriven
A4: It's led me to hosting a podcast, presenting with folks I didn't know, learning a ton, writing a book...all things that have impacted the work I do with teachers and administrators. Mostly, I just learn how much I still have to learn. #ProDriven#personalizedPD
This was the focus for our group in a research course. Focused on retaining teachers. It was great to see everyone's passion and interest on the topic. #ProDriven
Being in Ag Ed includes the FFA Org in it's curriculum. This means teaching my students about PD as there are many events offered to compete in these areas. I want to continue to better my own #PersonalizedPD so that I can continue to improve theirs as well #uwpsoe4020#ProDriven
A4: Joining Twitter was big, but it was seeing AWESOME educators that wanted to leave the profession that got me REALLY fired up to start the Professionally Driven mission to empower educators again (or continue it). #ProDriven
A4: @jbretzmann and @kennybosch encouraged me to start a local #FiresideChat We had our first meeting last week and are planning more to come, as well as inviting others and growing our group! #ProDriven
It was mandated that everyone self-assess and I only had to send 6 follow-up reminder emails. We have about 65 Ts in our HS. I think if it's tied into something like a promise of personalizing their PD it would definitely help. #personalizedPD#ProDriven
Q5: Can you share what you've learned that you're enthusiastic about trying or what you're enthusiastic about learning next? Where will your #ProDriven journey take you next? #edtech#tosachat#LearnLAP
A4: Similar to @mandymtaylor , this journey has changed my professional life. Getting to write, speak, and present about PD, teacher leadership, student empowerment, and leveling up really started here. Big love to my girl, @MrsStephenson3, too! #prodriven
A1: In Ag Ed there are many opportunities for my student to get involved in PD events and competition. I want to have twitter as tool to not only better my #PersonalizedPD but to help my students improve as well. #uwpsoe4020#ProDriven
I originally started the ProDriven journey to bring mindfulness to my classroom. I am now sharing with other classrooms in the district and just last week with one of our athletic teams. The impact of the journey keeps expanding. #ProDriven
Q5: Can you share what you've learned that you're enthusiastic about trying or what you're enthusiastic about learning next? Where will your #ProDriven journey take you next? #edtech#tosachat#LearnLAP
Bret, I agree with you, it is important to always find new ways to accommodate your followers when you are in a leadership position. Twitter is a good base because it offers a variety of ways to reach out and always learn more. #ProDriven#PersonalizedPD
Sharing our stories of turning weaknesses into strengths in education and facilitating learning is what innately gives permission for others to do the same. #ProDriven
Brian, Thank you for your input. I too see how it is important to stop and check in with your self. Evaluation is a very key tool ensuring I'm on the right track. #ProDriven#PersonalizedPD#uwpsoe4020
I can share that for the first few sections we had less than 20% of our Ts self-report that they were below a 3 out of 5. For the newer tech we were much higher - 50% below a 3 out of 5. All PLCs this year will work to close this gap. #ProDriven
A5: Been searching for my next challenge outside of the podcast which is also super exciting. Been working on a website to share my 10+yrs of experience & strategy for implementing a strong Advisory program in schools. It’s my jam. #ProDriven
A5: I began a voluntary 30–min. #edtech Wednesday webinar just for people in my district. I’m using @Zoom. Different topics each week. I’m REALLY stoked about this, but I need to keep making it better. It’s not quite where I want it to be yet. I’m still evolving! #ProDriven
Q5: Can you share what you've learned that you're enthusiastic about trying or what you're enthusiastic about learning next? Where will your #ProDriven journey take you next? #edtech#tosachat#LearnLAP
I've found that I have knowledge to share!!
I've also found that there are fabulous educators out there who are like-minded, and that's powerful!
#ProDriven
A5: Teacher leadership. It's been my jam since the jump. So many Ts don't see themselves as leaders until we help them to. I have several in my building that I am terrified of losing but know I have to. #prodriven
A6: If sharing your learning within your district is something you want to establish more, than I’ve learned creating a trusting culture is KEY! If this culture isn’t in place, people won’t want to share…period. #ProDriven
A1: This is the first time I have been part of a twitter chat. As a future educator, they would be a great source to connect with other educators and to also keep up to date with what is going on. #Prodriven
A great way to build relationships and tell stories is with our 'Game of Stories' deck. Now available for almost 33% off the retail price. https://t.co/oRhvPmzHcG#ProDriven Best price ever!
A6: I can't count the number of times I've said, "I never thought of that" as a result of one of our chats, voxes, or IRL conversations. The more we share, the stronger our PLN gets, the better we get. #prodriven
It’s sad that some people would rather share their learning OUTSIDE their district, rather than INSIDE. What’s this say about your school’s culture on Trust? Do ALL educators in your building feel safe to share their learning without judgement? #ProDriven
I love that you value your teacher leaders so much that you are “terrified of losing” them, but resolve to do just that by being willing to let them go on to new heights if they’re ready! #BuildingCapacity#ProDriven
A6: Good relationships have everything to do with my learning. Just being real with my colleagues & students and being open about my learning process which has included failure! I discovered a lot about myself including how much I love to share and help others. #ProDriven
What kind of feedback do you ask for? Do you see them sharing this information after the webinar? My Christmas list includes a new microphone just for this reason - and creating a podcast. (Squirrel) #ProDriven
A6: Relational capacity is at the heart of all interactions. People need to feel safe to share and colleagues need to have the desire to listen. We are to the point where our district kickoff PD is now provided almost exclusively in house! #ProDriven
Thank you all for your insight and wisdom and for hosting this helpful chat. I enjoyed following along and learning from you all. #ProDriven#PersonalizedPD#uwpsoe4020
A6: Effective and supportive professional relationships provide a safe environment to try new approaches and take risks leading to growth. Learn and model failing forward. #ProDriven#PersonalizedPD#GrowthMindset
Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this chat. Your insight was helpful to me as a future educator. I will remember twitter as being a great resource to be connected with fellow educators and to stay #Prodriven#PersonalizedPD#uwpsoe2010
A6: Relationships are EVERYTHING! People will listen, respect, learn from, and follow you if you are open, honest, communicative....AND willing to lead from among them, not above them. #ProDriven
Thank you so much for teaching me the importance of support and #personalpd in the education field. I am looking forward to using what I have learned and sharing it with my students in the near future! I am #ProDriven! #uwpsoe4020

Thank you al so much for this #ProDriven chat tonight. You have really left me with a lot to ponder and definitely ideas for ways to improve. I have some new #personalizedPD goals after this chat - and that’s always a sign of a really great one!
Hope you can join the #ProDriven chat every Tuesday at 8pm Central. Some great ideas shared here about #personalizedPD. And remember to check out Jarod's useful book at https://t.co/FGuFGRcQ4e
