R3: Work on yourself, your attitude and the way you approach difficult situations first! The only way to begin a chain reaction and change is to evaluate yourself first! #LeadLAP
A1: Being new I am working on finding out what the staff, students and parents love about our school and thoughts on focus areas for growth. Creating online survey for parents #LeadLAP

Participating in activities outside of school as a coach, spectator, etc. is a great way as a new teacher to build relationships with families and the community. #leadLAP
Being intentional about smiling and laughing are huge. If we aren't intentional about this, you will unintentionally send a different message through facial expressions and tone b/c the job puts so much on the plate. Smile...it matters! #leadlap

A3: Be visible, present, & a positive influence in every interaction w/ students, teachers, parents & community. We should be a beacon of light everywhere we are. #LeadLAP#LimitlessSchool
Q3: The “T” in LIMITLESS stands for Time. As quickly as we want change, we know it can take time to happen. What do you believe is something you can do to make an immediate change in school culture? #LeadLAP#LimitlessSchool
Yes! Just one encounter like this can truly make or break someone's day. This is what i meant in my first response when I said that it takes humility to meet people where they are at. That is being a leader. #LeadLAP
A3 (part 2) celebrations 🎉 each day I’m looking for a student to celebrate that is inspiring others with their t-shirt! Yesterday’s MOST INSPIRATIONAL T-Shirt ... #LeadLAP
Love to hear this. We are doing the same. Calendared every meeting from now to the end of the year. It gives a realistic perspective of my days/weeks, so I can make sure to be where value is added - not stuck in the office. #leadlap
A3 Some actions that can quickly improve school culture is having a positive attitude, being visible year round, being the lead learner, and modeling your expectations in all areas! Also, creating an environment where office staff is friendly helps = first impressions #leadlap
I absolutely agree!! So many times I have heard leaders talk about what good leadership is, but then not follow through with their actions! People notice! #LeadLAP
A3 Walk it like you talk it. By just simply modeling and being real those small victories one thing at a time add up real quick #LeadLAP#LimitlessSchool
Q3: The “T” in LIMITLESS stands for Time. As quickly as we want change, we know it can take time to happen. What do you believe is something you can do to make an immediate change in school culture? #LeadLAP#LimitlessSchool
A3. This is hard. All want immediate results to feel motivated, yet we know it takes time. keep reminding them that ANY growth is growth and something to celebrate. And that I’m willing to reevaluate at the end of semester and try new ideas. #LimitlessSchool#Leadlap
A3: I believe leaders set the tone. Showing grace, compassion, & humanity while supporting people & having high expectations are powerful but simple actions that leaders bring to their culture every day! We have to be intentional in creating our culture! #LeadLAP#LimitlessSchool

I am a teacher ... very little is within my control ... mandates coming from above... not in my control, but how I spend my time concerning them is. Do I want to spend a planning period complaining about them or just deal with it. #leadlap
Something else I’m not sure has come up in regards to change. There is some great work out there in systemic models for change. One of my favorites is Kotters change model #leadLAP. https://t.co/DAHhZf69vn
Q4: The second “L” in LIMITLESS stands for Limelight. How do you think social media has changed how the public perceives your school?#LimitlessSchool#LeadLAP
We used a district list of foundational ELA and math skills for each grade level. Teams chose one they think families could help with. We are presenting data related to that skill then providing parents with an activity/game they can play at home to reinforce the skill. #leadlap
A3: Work on building relationships first. When I got the Principal position a week after school started the first thing I did was meet each T individually. Not to talk data or anything like that, just to get 2 know them. I also eat with a different table of Ss each lunch #LeadLAP
Q3: The “T” in LIMITLESS stands for Time. As quickly as we want change, we know it can take time to happen. What do you believe is something you can do to make an immediate change in school culture? #LeadLAP#LimitlessSchool

A3: Small changes are the easiest. We are working on including language objectives in add. to content obj. (SIOP model) on the "welcome screen" of each class. Ss see this screen, containing a bell starter, objectives, materials needed & the day's hw, up entering class.#leadlap
I'm always surprised to learn a teacher is unwilling to post assignments online so parents can support the learning process (organizational skills) at home. My spreadsheet of lesson plans doubles as an assignment sheet and puts us all on the same page. #leadlap
Q4: The second “L” in LIMITLESS stands for Limelight. How do you think social media has changed how the public perceives your school?#LimitlessSchool#LeadLAP
A3: Positive referrals & calls home! We have been in school for 16 days. I have made over 157 positive calls home to our families! That shifts culture fast! #LeadLAP

#limitlessschool#leadLap. As @mradamwelcome says, we have the most powerful tool to promote the amazing things going on in our schools. We can tell our own stories and highlight the amazing stuff going on at our schools!!
I’m chewing on that. I don’t see teachers as powerless. I’m reading that in your tweet. Maybe that’s me, and something I’m triggered by. I just see teachers making decisions within their classroom to make significant changes that impact the school. #leadLAP
A4: It has given our school the opportunity to share in the moment things going on and the great things our kids do every single day! Overall, it has been pretty positive! #LeadLAP#LimitlessSchool

#LeadLAP

A3: I have begun sending positive feedback via email to the entire staff following my site visits. It allows me to reiterate our core values as well. As a district administrator of a large district it’s hard to connect with everyone hoping this helps #LeadLAP
The classroom is where we have control... we have ZERO control over the mandates that come done... just like you have ZERO control over the district mandates you are required to do from district. Laws are laws. #leadlap ... you can be triggered, but it is still reality.

Social media has to be used responsibly. I agree with you, it is a great thing that can give insight into a learning environment. It is even a great way to involve families! However, I know social media can become dangerous used incorrectly. That is my only concern. #LeadLAP
R5: ALWAYS take their voice into account when it comes to what style works best, they are the ones trying to learn so why should I always dictate how that's done? Having regular anonymous ways for them to share thoughts, for them to tell me what they like/dislike & why! #LeadLAP
A5: I’m reframing. Who are the students who frustrate me the most? What am I missing? How can my emotional triggers be a rubric for needing to dig in to building relationships with those students who push my buttons most #LeadLAP

#LeadLAP
A5: I plan on being in classrooms as much as possible! Loved visiting schools this week to deliver “Daily Spark” jars to my “Spark Starters” Looking forward to building relationships within all the schools. So much ✨magic✨ happening in @MSD549C#leadlap#MLmagical

With 700 Ss I get out in the halls, classrooms, and cafe as often as I can and have conversations with them. If they are in my office for anything negative I make it a teachable moment and use that time to connect and find out who they are as a person not just a student. #leadlap
A5: I plan on learning about my students through a more collaborative environment. I do not plan on being a lecturer. I want to present Physics to my student in a way that allows me to be a more 1-on-1 resource for assistance. #LeadLAP
How you build relationships and culture in a school - after a while, kids will initiate the conversations for you, because they see that you know their friends’ names. #LeadLAP
A5- I choose a couple different students each day and try to spend a few minutes with them at lunch/recess to get to know them a little better! #LeadLAP#LimitlessSchool
A4 - Social media is a blessing and a curse. It’s so easy share all the good that goes on from day to day. But it’s also something that is used to broadcast grievances & share misinformation. So sad because the negative is what gets more reactions than all the positive. #Leadlap
A6: Well I don't know the answer to this! I think I may have to start asking kids next week!! I could guess its the inquiry and freedom to guide their learning - but I don't know! #LeadLAP
Q6: The “S” in LIMITLESS stands for Set Goals. In our book, we set 20 goals as ideas for you to get your #LimitlessSchool started. One of them is to “find your hook.” What is something unique about your classroom or school that gets students excited to come each day? #LeadLAP
A6: I'm a story teller!! When I left teaching High School last year to become a Prin in a Primary School my Senior Ss gave me this advice "don't stop telling stories" #LeadLap
A6: It’s my staff @FairviewGCSNC — I’m so proud of the energy they bring each day to make sure our Ss are receiving what they need academically and socially daily!! They are changing the game!! #LeadLAP
A6: I hope this isn’t unique to us, but we enthusiastically greet students every morning before they enter the building. And it helps when you’re actually happy to see them! Be genuine! #LeadLAP
Q6: The “S” in LIMITLESS stands for Set Goals. In our book, we set 20 goals as ideas for you to get your #LimitlessSchool started. One of them is to “find your hook.” What is something unique about your classroom or school that gets students excited to come each day? #LeadLAP
A6: I feel like we do this so well at North. Students come to school for the community. We continue to build and strengthen our community so that we ensure all students love coming to school. It's a challenge worth taking on. #LimitlessSchool#LeadLAP
I teach in a bilingual school. We hook our whole community in with our respect for bilingualism and our respect for both the English and Spanish language that flow freely in our hallways. #LeadLAP#LimitlessSchool
A6: This year I'm jumping in to project based learning and performance tasks that involve collaboration, student choice, less teacher control and just having more fun!!! #LeadLAP#teachergoals
A5. Well, this was a simple idea, but I feel I am getting to know students. I call it my feedback loop. Google Assignments and assessments have a comment box for my feedback and their comments on my feedback. #leadlap
A6: I feel like we do this so well at North. Students come to school for the community. We continue to build and strengthen our community so that we ensure all students love coming to school. It's a challenge worth taking on. #LimitlessSchool#LeadLAP
This is absolutely crucial. A student learns so much more if they are actually interested and engaged, and even though the student may not enjoy the topic, that can still occur if he/she feels he/she is heard and valued. #LeadLAP
A6: I teach in a bilingual school. We hook our whole community in with our respect for bilingualism and our respect for both the English and Spanish language that flow freely in our hallways. #LeadLAP#LimitlessSchool
R6: The hands on learning aspect! There are very few if any subjects that I believe shouldn't have some type of hands on activity! I'm becoming a history teacher soon for secondary education & I'm ready to reinvent the way history is normally taught! #LeadLAP
We did a “room service cart” the first Friday of school with free snacks and goodies for teachers, each teacher is developing a self care plan, frequent social functions, brag tags for teachers. #LeadLap
A6: the classroom culture embraces the Jack Sparrows and resists the Commodore Norringtons. We empower The Jacks to understand the choices they make and the impacts to their own power within the system. But if they want to be free, we work towards that freedom #LeadLAP
A6 I think one thing that makes S’s excited to come to school each day is the culture we’ve built that relationships are first, kids know they are safe, someone cares and we are going to challenge and engage them. #LeadLAP#LimitlessSchool
Q6: The “S” in LIMITLESS stands for Set Goals. In our book, we set 20 goals as ideas for you to get your #LimitlessSchool started. One of them is to “find your hook.” What is something unique about your classroom or school that gets students excited to come each day? #LeadLAP
A6: I let my students know that my goal is to make them heroes. From the day I meet them they know that I want to bring out their gifts and show them how to use them to help and change the world. 🌎❤️#LeadLAP
A5: I will continue to have 1:1 grading time with students. At the end of each unit, I have conferences with each student to check in with them, look through their work, grade it together, and make an action plan for how to improve in the next unit. #LeadLAP
I have always done project/inquiry based learning even in 'difficult' schools_give Ss choices & responsibility for their learning!! good luck :) #LeadLAP
A6: This year I'm jumping in to project based learning and performance tasks that involve collaboration, student choice, less teacher control and just having more fun!!! #LeadLAP#teachergoals
A5: Greeting every student every day, playing with them at recess, being visible throughout the day in classrooms, the hallway, in the lunchroom #LeadLAP
A5: Finding any way to connect to learn about who they are & what they love to do...in the hallways, lunch, classroom, sporting events, plays, concerts! #limitlessSchool#leadLap
Q5: The “E” in LIMITLESS stands for Educate Yourself. In what meaningful ways do you plan on learning about your students this year? #LimitlessSchool#LeadLAP
A6: Creating a #gamified classroom environment where Ss are immersed in our classroom story and are empowered to make learning their own, hooks kids in! In my new role, I’m thinking of ways to create that type of gamified experience for our educators. #Leadlap#MLmagical
A6 The Staff for sure! Teachers make learning fun, they are innovative and create a safe and exciting atmosphere for kids. Our House system gives Ss a family and sense of belonging and it’s just a good place! #leadlap
A6: At our school all the students come in one door in the morning so I am able to start their day with a warm welcome (including some hugs and high-fives) #LeadLAP
A5 - At a high school I wish I observed more relationship building with Ss than I do. I know that T/S conferences are a thing in some surroundings schools in my area & hope to see something similar in my environment. I believe that that they can make a difference. #Leadlap
I think we have slowly sucked the fun out of learning over the past 15-20 years with standardised testing etc_totally time to start the revolution to put fun back into the classroom #LeadLAP
A4: Social Media is a great platform to simply highlight your partnerships and stakeholders. With only one post, you begin to change the stigma for your school! Powerful! #LeadLAP
A6: As a future physics teacher, I do not want my students to dread coming to class because the topic is difficult. Every week, I want to do an engaging in-class demonstration. Also, I want to be available for office hours every day after school to help. I am a resource. #LeadLAP
A6: We work in a great school with amazing people who understand our goal of “students first”...We want to change the system and #DareToBeDifferent to make the best possible learning environment for our students. Every student, every day. #FalconPride.
#LeadLAP
A6: We have a House System. Students love to show pride for their house. We give house points for following expectations and students love to know throughout the day which House is in the lead! #LeadLAP
Q7: Building a #LimitlessSchool starts with you! What will you do on Monday to make a positive change in a student, colleague, parent, or community member’s life? #LeadLAP
The energy that staff can bring is amazing. It can be either good or bad. With good leadership it can be great. We just have to work on making relationships matter. #LeadLAP
Didn't say I was powerless ... just saying that we can embrace any catch phrase, but mandates are mandates ... if that wasn't true we would all be walking out when state mandated testing happened. I have been "Pirating" for 17 years ... just didn't know it was "Pirating" #LeadLap
Q7: Building a #LimitlessSchool starts with you! What will you do on Monday to make a positive change in a student, colleague, parent, or community member’s life? #LeadLAP
A6: Hands down, our “hook” is our staff. They will do anything to help a kid or their families. Last week, they helped find a bed for a S who needed one. They’re organizing a gas card drive for a family of a former S who is in the hospital & needs gas $. They amaze me. #LeadLAP
A5. I am committed to spending more time w/students this year. Last year I had them choose a “real life saint” to nominate/write about. We had a wonderful ceremony to honor the saints. Loved seeing who kids value! #LimitlessSchool#Leadlap
A6 - I’m going with “approachability”! the hook is-I’m always available.Kids and parents ask me questions through a variety of sources-district web page, twitter, etc & I make it a goal be approachable & available! If all my families know I care, maybe I’ve hooked them #leadlap
A4: social media has amplified the way the public views the schools I have worked at & allowed us to showcase amazing student work & connect with professionals and citizens around the world. #LeadLAP#LimitlessSchool
Q4: The second “L” in LIMITLESS stands for Limelight. How do you think social media has changed how the public perceives your school?#LimitlessSchool#LeadLAP
A6) We are working to incorporated more celebrations for Ss. I.E. Quarterly Celebrations for attendance, academic performanc and #Good News Phone Calls Home.. #LeadLAP
Awesome day of classes! I keep hearing "wait, we can really use our cell phone?!" Showing Ss that they hold a teaching tool is powerful! Don't banish phones, but embrace them as a tech device for class! #nced#scsed#ncdlcn#ncties18
I've worked closely with admins lately bc they don't want to waste instructional time either. We found a very creative solution this week that restored my faith in our system. #LeadLAP
A6. Ss are there for the caring by the T, smiles, hugs, welcoming behavior, the encouragement in learning to try new things, and take risks. To SOAR to be their best! #leadlap
A7: I will continue to be my best self. When I'm on my game, being positive, interacting with Ss, Ts & Ps, then the culture stays positive. No matter what, keep the negativity out! Our jobs are hard, but we can shield others from it! #LeadLAP
Q7: Building a #LimitlessSchool starts with you! What will you do on Monday to make a positive change in a student, colleague, parent, or community member’s life? #LeadLAP
Teachers have control of mandates. They can sabatoge them and ensure their failure. They can promote success. That’s a ton of control for the system and culture. #leadLAP
yes ... but teachers don't. If we did operate outside the law than we would be fired.#leadlap and you as an Administrator would write them up if they did not follow the district mandates you are required to follow. #leadlap
A6. Family/community. We aren’t just a school, we are a family. Dads, our priest, and I greet students outside each day, call each by name, notice haircuts, new shoes, etc. #LimitlessSchool#Leadlap
A7: It is such a small thing, but I would want to make it a point every Monday to ask about my students' weekends. Even if it is just a 5 minute conversation, that can really make a positive impact.
#LeadLAP
A4: when you have an organizational vision - it’s never fully realized until all stakeholders can relay it effectively and and as a reflex - that means you have to talk about it a lot - internally and externally
#LeadLAP
A7 Monday will be my first day back after 3 days of being gone for a training so I’m hoping my cheerful smile greeting every one will be a small thing that does that 😂 #LeadLAP#LimitlessSchool
Q7: Building a #LimitlessSchool starts with you! What will you do on Monday to make a positive change in a student, colleague, parent, or community member’s life? #LeadLAP
A7: I will continue to build relationships with both students and staff to build a positive school culture. We can’t ask othe staff to build relationships with students if we are not willing to build relationships with each other. #LeadLAP#LimitlessSchool
A7: Monday brings active shooter training for us. This means I will focus heavily on keeping stress levels down by supporting our staff however they need it. #LeadLAP
A4: I think we have to be intentional about sharing our school story on social media. I want people to see all of the amazing things that happen in our school and recognize the efforts of those that make it a great place to be #leadlap
A6 - The junior high I work with has become an #AVID school. It’s great to see the purpose that kids seem to have on a daily basis. I’m excited for when we roll up the program to high grade levels. #Leadlap
A5 Best way to learn about students is to know their story! You usually don’t find that in the classroom. You will find it at recess, on the bus, home visit, at the students football, dance event. We all have a story find the time to listen. #GoodNewsCallOfTheDay#LeadLAP
R7: Greet everyone I can, make a note of anyone seeming stressed or glum and do my best to be a positive influence in their presence that day and make sure to thank all the helpful teachers for what they're doing to better the school! #LeadLAP
A7: Monday, I have to visit with a couple of students. Both can be a little rough around the edges, and building relationshipswith them is always a work in progress. The goal: Let them be heard, and help them reach their goal of graduation. #LeadLAP
A7: I get to start teaching classes next week and I cannot wait!!! Setting goals for reading using @Flipgrid, creating "What People Think I Do" memes, and beginning implementation of #DBC50Summer! My enthusiasm is at an all-time high and enthusiasm is contagious! #LeadLAP
A6: Bow Tie Tuesdays is just one way that I keep students excited about coming to school. Also, Fun Friday Morning activites... my goal is to always have then leaving Friday taking about what happen positive to end the week at home. #LeadLAP
I would say the same thing about our staff there is no group of people I would trust more with my own family and the students and families in our district than the staff in our building #LeadLap
A6: Hands down, our “hook” is our staff. They will do anything to help a kid or their families. Last week, they helped find a bed for a S who needed one. They’re organizing a gas card drive for a family of a former S who is in the hospital & needs gas $. They amaze me. #LeadLAP
Are you listening to yourself? Mandates come from outside ...state testing is a mandate. we have no control over that... if district wants to data collect every friday you have to do that or you will be held accountable. If you didn't do it you would be held accountable. #leadlap
A7 MONDAYS are critical!! Some kids have not had a positive adult interaction in the 64 hours since school ! We need to be that positive face, smiling person, shaking hand, squeezing hug that some kids miss all weekend! And everyone needs a WELCOME BACK! ⭐️❤️‼️😀#LeadLAP
Merissa from TX jumping in late! I overslept)
This year I wanted to try interactive bulletin boards to encourage S voice & engagement. I have created multiple boards/displays around the school to generate excitement & fun for every S at my school. So far it is AWESOME!
#LeadLAP
A7: Not ready to commit to one thing because I need processing time after today's chat, but I'll commit to reflecting on how to shift our Ps, Ss, and Staff from engaged to empowered. #leadLAP
A6: Sometimes, all it takes is something simple to meet “survival” needs (@AllysonApsey). I have “spa water” available in my room. The sides of cucumbers and frozen pineapple is optional, but I always have a pitcher of cold water and little cups available for my students. #LeadLAP
A7: Ironically we start the final two weeks of term with a round of standardised testing :( I will continue to support my Ss & Tchrs by asking 'what is the worst thing that can happen?' #LeadLap the results of 1 test do not define us as learners!
A7: It’s been a busy few weeks and I’ve haven’t made the time to write the daily thank you note I said I would. Time to refocus. On Monday morning, I’m doing it. #LeadLAP
A7: Its not what we do Monday that matters but everyday. I follow the rule of 5 daily. Make 3 positive phone calls for students a day, write 1 note of appreciation to a fellow colleague, and do 1 random act of kindness. Five acts a day makes joy part of your daily ways. #LeadLAP
A7: actually on Monday I’m going to do some internal work enjoying Rosh Hashanah with my family and digging within to navigate the areas I want to focus on going into Yom Kippur! #bethechange#leadLAP
A7: Have my 1st goal meeting set up with one of my Spark Starters Monday! Excited to use @TaraMartinEDU Innovator’s Compass idea to help our educators dream BIG this year! #leadlap#MLmagical
A6: As a future physics teacher, I do not want my students to dread coming to class because the topic is difficult. Every week, I want to do an engaging in-class demonstration. Also, I want to be available for office hours every day after school to help. I am a resource. #LeadLAP
A6) We are working to incorporate more celebrations for Ss. I.E. Quarterly Celebrations for attendance, academic performance and #Good News Phone Calls Home.. #LeadLAP
A7: I feel overwhelmed most of the time, so I need to bring myself back to being more positive and recognizing ...and then letting go of what I can't control. Having less stress and being realistic will benefit myself and everyone around me. #LeadLAP
A7: I think it is all about building relationships. My goal is to build as many relationships, make as many connections, and create the best culture possible for all our students and staff. #LeadLAP#LimitlessSchool
Q7: Building a #LimitlessSchool starts with you! What will you do on Monday to make a positive change in a student, colleague, parent, or community member’s life? #LeadLAP
We call home and then we post their pic on our FB page! Our families are LOVING IT! We have had over 200 people follow our page in 16 days to see what we are doing at JE! #LeadLAP
Q7: Building a #LimitlessSchool starts with you! What will you do on Monday to make a positive change in a student, colleague, parent, or community member’s life? #LeadLAP
A7. To continue building relationships with Ss, listening to their stories, asking questions, waving to them in hallways, smiling, welcoming them in! #leadlap
Oh I love this idea!!! The desk that was in there is so big! I didn't know what to do with it. I pushed it aside to give as much space for kids as possible!! Thanks for the ideas! #LeadLAP
You should change it from Mrs Rentz office to Mrs Rentz living room or kitchen. Looks like a lot of living learning and love going on their. I have lunch with a little every week. Your living room reminds me of this :) #kidsdeserveit
So sad that there's a reason to have to train for this. As a mom and a teacher, these trainings get me all kinds of worried. Thank you for keeping the stress levels down for your staff. #LeadLAP
A7 - Making my daily connections with staff & students. Keeping a positive intent at the forefront of my thinking. Do what I can to shine a light on others’ successes. #Leadlap
I’m listening. Are you? I’m not necessarily suggesting you get fired. But you need to understand there are teachers around this country working to dismantle the system from within. Just sayin. #rebelshavehope#leadLAP
A7: On Monday I'm donating some time to help a neighboring school district start a #character education program, to help them examine their culture and climate, their purpose and their plan! Can't wait. #leadlap
A4: Social media has made us better because not only can we learn and grow from people outside of our walls, but also share with others to help grow them. Win-win! #leadlap
I am always all about our school. Whether it is creating new materials for Ts or Ss, offering to help someone in need, or simply smiling at someone having a bad morning. I love being a part of my school community and try to put that passion back into my school everyday!
#LeadLAP
