I try to avoid bringing work home with me so I can focus on being a husband and father. Keeps my life balanced and helps me stay excited about teaching. 🍎👌 #bfc530
Just like running, you have good days (runs) & bad ones. Don’t beat yourself up over the bad ones, evaluate, modify, & move on. Take breaks—have fun. #bfc530

Agreed. I don’t have young ones at home any more, so this is how it is working for me now. I have changed the way I work depending on my own children. #bfc530
Sometimes we fall behind b/c we’re doing important work. I didn’t have 50 revision conferences at lunch & during free periods planned this fall. But my students want to be better writers. So I’m “behind” on other grading but Ss don’t feel behind now #bfc530
yes ... but those 8 days we missed are not going to magically reappear ... 1st quarter ended on original date ... curriculum maps didn't change #bfc530
I was an elementary T for 17 years. Now I'm middle. Feels like we just move on to hit County goals regardless of mastery/ progress. Feels like I'm just throwing stuff at Ss and moving on so assignments in our gradebooks match #bfc530
I get to school at 7 and usually work through lunch and try to leave by 4 most days. But need that extra time. At home I do reading and computer work. #bfc530
Pacing important today:
1. review every report card
2. finalize four sessions I'm presenting for PD tomorrow
3. attend regional principal meeting
4. learning walk in an elementary school
5. volleyball tournament game tonight

For me the main thing is to spend as much time as possible in Quad II and as little time as possible in Quad III (Covey). A small investment each day pays off huge dividends later! #bfc530

I guess I'm old school, I like to teach to mastery. Hate the way it's hit or miss these days - at least at my school.😣 I think it's another reason why I'm still struggling professionally. Can't let that go. Should I??? #bfc530
We also can’t ignore systemic forces. I teach 3 sections of AP at capacity. In private sector those 3 classes would be 5 normal sized classes. So my 5 classes are like someone else’s 6. #bfc530

1/2 Our eLearning day was a success. The students feedback was that they would like to see everything sent through google classroom (we are not 1-1) as we were required to upload everything through our school website, and it was not the most user friendly for students. #bfc530
2/2 Also, they mentioned that this would be a good day for coding practice, as we don't have a lot of time to work on this during school. Since it was our first one, a lot of them were confused by some of the directions as well (different choices given per class). #bfc530
I was thinking the same as I lurked around #bfc530 this week. I always slow to take water on long races, so using "water stations" as intentional reflective learning breaks has the same importance to keep us going for those big projects!!
It is important to take time for you and concentrate on what is most important. Seems like the things that really stress me out are the little things taking my focus from what is truly important. Hugs everyone! #bfc530
#bfc530 I use my assessment plan to balance things out equally from Sem 1 and Sem 2. I try for one assessment a month, which gives me lots of dots on that evidence record!
