I used to walk into other teacher's rooms all the time and tell them where I was struggling. Ive never understood the value of trying to look like there is no struggle. #bfc530
I put my ideas out there, propose things. I’m hoping to take families from my school to the zoo with iPads & bring them back to create projects with their pics for example. #bfc530

Tell students at the beginning of a new lesson or project, “I haven’t tried this before and I’m not sure it’s going to work.” If it doesn’t work, thank them for trying it with you. Show them that you take creative risks and show self-compassion when you fail. #bfc530
#bfc530 I tell my students when I make mistakes, I tell them that things are challenging for me too, and I remind that once I was a #student for whom things did not come easily. Students respect honesty.

After read Mathematical Mindsets by @joboaler, I 100% changed the way that I teach math. I fully believe it is what's best for the kids, but some days I'm still nervous about how different my classes are from the norm. #bfc530
When you create a space that is safe to take risks, make mistakes, and learn new things. Letting students know the we all make mistakes and it makes for great learning opportunities 🤔 #bfc530

It's easier for me to be vulnerable w/my 6th SS than w/anyone else. I model, narrate processes aloud, and share openly. Just yesterday in advisory about relationships I talked about being a "difficult daughter." Easier for them to share after that. #bfc530

#bfc530 Vunerability in learning is share a personal journey of ownership of error with all the trials & tribulations of reality. Give your audience a depth of understanding of the true meaning of underpinning knowledge of the human endeavour since time began!
Being vulnerable means not having all the answers. It means saying “I don’t know” or “Let’s work together to find out.” It also is admitting mistakes and sharing what you e learned. It means you are human in front of your students and that relationships are built. #BFC530
I guess vulnerable from the view of others, it could be courage or out of strength of convictions, but I dont feel vulnerable when I take an action I see as a risk #bfc530

To me, this reads that “vulnerability” can simply be a willingness to consider that what is/has been done isn’t the only way. Tough for Ts, I think, because so many of us feel like we’re expected to have all the answers for Ss all the time. #bfc530
I don’t think you can. Some people are just better at sharing their vulnerability than are others. And I agree, sharing our feelings of being vulnerable can bring a team together. Wish we could build in time for that. #bfc530
And isn’t it a shame that teachers feel this way. Teachers are learners as much as they are teachers. They need to be proud of that fact, and help students to understand why. #bfc530

I think change and vulnerability go together. If you try to strong arm something through and don’t admit what you don’t know people will feel upset or confused by the lack of transparency. #bfc530

These are some deep thoughts right here 👆I look at vulnerability as the conviction to make bold decisions even when others doubt you & they may be correct. But you have to try & are willing to fail productively #bfc530

I was terrible at managing the change I couldn't control. It affected my health & my passion for teaching. However, the change I could control, even though it feels like starting over after 20 yrs, I've managed with courage & have found my passion for teaching again! #bfc530

Let's define terms, #bfc530. (Thanks, Merriam-Webster.) Nos. 1+2 remind me that publicly staking This-I-Believe claims can leave someone vulnerable. No. 3 highlights that risk of vulnerability creates possibility of new rewards.
