Iām a K-5 librarian from Maine who alwayss gets called āthe computer teacherā. I will not speculate about the evil woodchuck as I am an organic gardener. #WeirdEd
Hello #WeirdEd ! My name is Lauren and I am a soon to be second year student at the University of Regina! I am pursuing my education degree for Pre-K- Grade 5! First time here!
A1: Doing a couple of good summer projects with Ts (video project with our Woods teacher, media lit project with one of our English Ts), just did ISTE, reading (both prof and for pleasure) #WeirdEd
A1: Had a Literacy Institute last week that attended. It gave me ideas to improve my literacy instruction since I know I need to work in that area. Math is more my strong suit. #WeirdEd
A1: Iām reading your book to help me prepare for my next intern. I plan to finish my halfway done play myself in July. Iām doing a few small things here and there that are either fun for me, necessary to help life run smooth, and/or Iām being compensated fairly for. #weirded
A1: Iāll be redesigning my libraries this summer. New principal...time for a reset. Purging then sitting down for a few days to map out big picture for next year. Then Iāll break for a solid month. Reading Maine Student Book Award nominees all summer too! #WeirdEd And resisting!

A1 I am undergoing cancer treatment and trying to pay bills. Getting a second opinion on Monday. Not on the bills. On the chemo my current oncologist has put me on. #weirded
#WeirdEd I think Twitter spam detection algorithms sometimes get carried away with people who moderated chats. Has Doug completely disappeared when you try to search for him? That's usually the sign that he's been silenced.
A1 #weirded Moved schools! Will now be the Education Specialist (RSP) teacher at my districts new STEAM Magnet School. Weāve been in PBL training all week. :-) #integrated#intertwined#itsallinthere
#WeirdEd A1 I'm doing some trainings to be a PGS (Pofessional Growth Specialist) for my school next year. It's a cooperative learning thing, not leaving the classroom. And I get to run a bunch of sessions at a district tech camp on Friday
#WeirdEd Naw.... I'm also gonna miss an awesome SoJust NEA conference this week. :(
I wonder if I can connect with a few peeps after work outside of the conference.
#WeirdEd FQ1.5 If you are doing professional stuff over the summer, are you doing it because you want to, are expected to, are required to, or some combination thereof?
A1) I'm also going to probably get around to reading some of those PD books I bought.
A Classroom of One and Culturize: Every Student. Every Day. Whatever It Takes. #WeirdEd

Iāve been to ISTE several times, so I know what to expect and how to get what I need from it. It is SO HUGE, that I think if you are a first-timer, itād be really frustrating to navigate. Lots of long lines/closed sessions. But also some great sessions. #WeirdEd
Yes! Third year šøš Last year we attended the Her Universe fashion show where they asked everyone in cosplay to walk the runway during intermission... such an experience!! #weirded
#WeirdEd A1 Other than that, catch up on reading/writing/blogs/etc. Clean up stuff & toss a few things
And hopefully some of those morning show Friday concerts in midtown
Well every k-3 teacher have to attend the literacy institute at some point in the district so it was kind of required, but also I needed to improve on my literacy instruction too. So a bit of both required and wanted to. #WeirdEd
Ahhhh bored is so real when you're brain is in the habit of thinking about teaching all the time. It's almost like my brain forgets what it's like to be a regular Human Instead of a teacher. it gets bored while I retrain it. That's why it takes the whole month. #WeirdEd
#WeirdEd A1.5 I'm doing the trainings because I want to do the extra work next year bc I think it could be a good program. So I've gotta do the PD, but I asked for it
#WeirdEd Tweetdeck is a site that lets you see your twitter feed update live instead of refreshing, especially when you set it to a specific Hashtag. It's what I use for twitter chats.

Trump: "We have more money and more brains and better houses and apartments and nicer boats. We are smarter than they are. They say the elite. We are the elite. You are the elite. "
Want to. It's fun to associate with the folks. (Although hanging out after the first year was fun. I don't know if they did that last summer -- ... #WeirdEd)
Myself for sure. I mean, by admin and Ts, I would guess. Iām a tech coach, so continuing my learning is part of that. And also Domain 4 of Danielson (yes, this is a whole THING). By Twverse!? Um, who is that? LOL. I donāt know her. #WeirdEd
#WeirdEd A2 I just watch @Hyper_RPG for quality, inclusive entertainment instead. Like now! My attention's divided 'cause they have an awesome stream going on now. LOL.
Cool stuff. @KatieLinendoll plugs the @HerUniverse (Ashley Eckstein) stuff a lot. (I listen to Katie's tech podcast. She's something, I tell ya!) #WeirdEd

I would never lie about puppets. I told someone three days ago that one of my big goals for next year is to bring in more puppets. Please be my puppet guru. #WeirdEd
A2: Welp. Today what I did was donate to the campaigns of two candidates, planned my union conference schedule, and researched voter registration. I also bought some art, and screamed internally (but thatās not that helpful). #WeirdEd
#WeirdEd Q3 Give us some books you're reading. Could be openly education book, could be books you're reading for the classroom that aren't "teaching" books, could be the new Daniel Steele. Whatevers
#WeirdEd True story. There will be about a week next month when I'll be home alone -- everyone is engaged elsewhere. I looked to see if there are any local conventions to pop into that weekend ...1/2
+ ,,, Yeah. It's SDCC weekends. There are literally no conventions (sci-fi or otherwise) anywhere in the frickin' country, forget about close to home.
sigh. 2/2 #WeirdEd
A3: Book Whisper and a book on Guided Reading by Jan Richardson. I want to improve my guided reading instruction and have my students develop a love for reading. #WeirdEd
#WeirdEd Q3 Give us some books you're reading. Could be openly education book, could be books you're reading for the classroom that aren't "teaching" books, could be the new Daniel Steele. Whatevers
Ok, @Hyper_RPG I lost focus 'cause of teacher #WeirdEd stuff, but @jurassicalien delivery on that last line before the cliffhanger, brought me shivers....
A3: Just got A Novel Approach by Kate Roberts - looking forward to that. Also finishing Pillars of the Earth. Oh wait, should I say anything by @TheWeirdTeacher ? #WeirdEd
A2: Shake my head. Stay informed. Get active (went to my first but not last protest this week). Look forward to November when I can shout with my vote. #WeirdEd
Read "Teaching in the Time of Trump" and understand that when democratic norms are violated, schools should not be NEUTRAL. #WeirdEdhttps://t.co/mYyrW8Ef35
.@TheWeirdTeacher Someone said you don't show up in their timeline unless we respond directly to you.
A2 Gonna put on my pink pussy ears hat and march and rally on Saturday. And work on GOTV. #weirded
Doug, I know your feelings about Trump from your regular tweets, and yeah from #WeirdEd tweets, but you've held it together for the sake of the chat before now.
It's nice that this isn't one of those chats. We usually can get away from that crap without forgetting about that crap
#WeirdEd I ordered @teachkate 's Novel Approach but I have to wait until August for it to get here on a literal boat, so maaaaybe I will finish Finnish Lessons.
And there is always a Terry Pratchett in the works.
#WeirdEd Psh, then they'd have to think a negative thought, and everyne knows they don't do that. Even when they write negative things, that's just you reading it wrong
Innovators Mindset, Growth Mindset, the Big CI Book, finally finishing Tell the Wolves Iām Home, (my colleague wrote) The Disturbed Girlās Dictionary #WeirdEd
A3: One Crazy Summer, The Arrival, Hilo, 13 Story Treehouse, All the grade 4-6 Maine Student Book Awards Nominees, and rereading the makerspace book to prepare for makerspace development in 18-19. And finally Yes We Still Can by @danpfeiffer, my one non-edu book. #WeirdEd

A3) In addition to the previously mentioned PD books, my fun books are Refugee, Amal Unbound, Ghost Boys, and The Hate U Give.
Pretty much copied books from @hughtheteacher . #WeirdEd
A3 cont: Iām also going to look up and read books that I can use as Mentor Texts and read alouds. Any suggestions for 3rd grade WeirdEd crew? #WeirdEd
#WeirdEd Q3 Give us some books you're reading. Could be openly education book, could be books you're reading for the classroom that aren't "teaching" books, could be the new Daniel Steele. Whatevers

Iāve been working so hard for the last 5 summers looking for jobs after filling LTS spots. Last year, I moved our family from PA to N.C. over the summer as I accepted a permanent spot. This summer, I am doing absolutely nothing other than preparing for hernia surgery. Thatās it.
#weirded A3 I got a copy of Seymour Papertās, Mindstorms. Really looking forward to reading it. He was an early advocate for students creating with technology. Apparently itās public domain now. https://t.co/rVIZbYkLFW
#WeirdEd I also just returned "Lost to Time: Unforgettable Stories That History Forgot" to the library.
I saw it written down on a list I made years ago, so I reserved it.
A3: reading some fiction for funāStation Eleven, The Island, The Hate U Give... reading The Behavior Code, rereading The Art of Coaching, and a few others. #WeirdEd
I don't know where the list came from, but I copied down the titles of a bunch of books to look up and left the list with some school papers I didn't go through for years. #WeirdEd
A3 Just got The Hate U Give.
Also...
Blind Spot
Thinking Fast and Slow
A Warriorās Umbra (written by a former student of mine)
Lots of blogs
#WeirdEd
I usually read a couple of the Sue Grafton alphabet series as well. I don't like reading more than 3 books in a series at a time. I want to read something else.
I think I'm up to "P".
#WeirdEd
A4: I havenāt listened to podcasts in quite some time. Iām actually looking for some good ones in education. I am going a long road trip so Iāll need stuff to listen to. Suggestions? #WeirdEd

#WeirdEd + plus Chris Hardwick is the latest person to be accused of something -- no, don't have all the details at the moment. Wil Wheaton didn't comment that I know of. 2/2
#WeirdEd A5 hmmmmmm
The Beatles, back when they were still a performing band and not a studio band?
Unless you meant one of those bands that roamed across the Wild West ...
#WeirdEd A5 I feel like the correct answer is going to see The Beatles in the Cavern Club.
...but I'd have to look and see who was opening for Metallica on the Puppets tour.
Micah from Petaluma, CA Jumping in on the #WeirdEd chat super late. I think this is the first twitter chat I have actually made in months (maybe a year).
It would chuck 42 chucks because it is always 42.
Only read a few things in the Ender series, and not in order. Read the original novella and the book. I didn't like Ender's Shadow. I thought it took away from Ender too much. #WeirdEd
