A1: Connect with the students. It is the relationships that we form that matters the most. Students need to feel a sense of belonging in schools
#TEDEdChat
We are working on projects and photography. The students can choose the subject and then they work during one year, learning how to make pictures and to use the photo as a language. The final part is an exposition for the community. #TEDedchat
#TEDEdChat while beneficial to some, what about the kids experiencing #trauma or don't have the #selfregulatedlearning skills to understand someone's background that may be in conflict with their own or trigger thoughts they aren't ready to handle?
Q2 #TEDEdChat I do and I think it’s important. It helps students to know you are human like them. It also helps to motivate them too and can reassure them if they are having similar issues. I feel they can relate better.
#TEDEdChat I think it's good that they know us, in order to feel closer to us. I share personal stories that are enriching for their learning and positive for our relationship. However, up to a point
#TEDEdChat also students love that personal touch. Knowing that little bit extra. The clever part is linking it back to the subject and using it as a ‘hook’ for learning and not allowing them to divert you from the subject
Listening more than talking. Facilitating more than prescribing. It can be scary at first since you don’t always know what they are going to say... #edt5334#TEDEdChat
